Arrived at 1:36pm. 5 tables were seated in the whole place. Waited to be seated for 5 minutes. Asked to sit outside. Waiter brought water and disappeared for 25 minutes. Came here with my family. We ordered a salmon, pulled pork sandwich, and goat cheese pasta. Wait time for food was the standard 15-20min (similar to Jack Astors, Swiss Chalet, etc). So the food came and the waitress (named Jen) asks if I want anything with my sweet potato fries. I ask for ketchup. After that, she didn't come by for the next 20 minutes. She disappeared from our area completely (I believe she was taking care of another group on the other side of the restaurant). I was not really sure what happened. The family that sat diagonal to us was also served by her, and they seemed to have problems with their order (got the wrong dish or something), and the manager came to take care of it in place of the waitress. On a related note, I was very surprised by the way they lay out their wait staff. 4 different waiters/waitresses were walking back and forth in our row. Very inefficient use of resources. So I never got my ketchup, which was alright because the fries taste fine without them. Jen finally came by to give us our bill and apologized. Still don't really know what happened (they could have at least had someone come over to tell us what was going on). Oh well. On the good hand, the food was amazing. My pulled pork sandwich was delicious (a little too oily for me but that's pretty typical for pulled pork). The goat cheese pasta was delicious (comes with a ton of veggies... this dish is basically vegetarian). It also came with 2 pieces of cheesed garlic bread. The salmon was a typical salmon dish (small in size, also very typical for this kind of restaurant). with minimal veggies. This is my favourite Montanas and one of my favourite places to eat. The staff is awesome, friendly and smiling - a genuine smile and it feels like they're actually happy to see you. The food is always great - the last 3 times I've ordered the Mac 'n Cheese - probably the best I've ever had! Service is always timely and the food is always good! Waited over 45 minutes for food. When my fish and chips came, there was a long black hair underneath my coleslaw--disgusting!! The manager came out and said they would make a new one, and they did, but it was the worst thing I ever tasted. The batter was not even fully cooked. Since we waited nearly an hour to be served (at lunch time with only three tables full), the manager said she would include desert for free. Wow, I thought, that's very nice. Until the order came. The donuts were BLACK, burnt, and cold. The waffles were indescribable-- it was only one piece, burnt, and cut in half (I can't believe this actually happened...I'm shocked that this low quality of food actually is served in Canada)-----please see photos for proof. I'm not lying about how crappy this place is. I hope they sell gift cards, because they're awesome to give at Christmas to people you hate. I wouldn't serve those 'deserts' to a death row inmate. Regardless, I still left a tip because I felt bad for the incredibly nice waitress (Logan) who was completely at no fault for the disgusting quality her cook was serving out. Maybe I should also say that the table next to ours also returned two steak mains back to the kitchen because it was "the rarest uncooked thing" the guy ever saw. Apart from this place being a health hazard, the $100 I spent for four people would have been better spent at a high quality restaurant--like Milestones. Never again will I step foot in that red neck hell hole. What a waste of money and disgusting excuse for food. To Montana: Fire the cook and kitchen staff if you want to survive as a business. Just saying. Food is disgusting and portions are measly. (I mean $30 for a sliver of steak half the size of my palm and a tablespoon of coleslaw is outrageous---I would have never ordered it if I knew it looked like that. These guys have changed their menu and portion sizes. I would have to say that I'm quite disappointed with the menu changes and feel that Montana's has slipped in their menu offerings. On the upside the services is great and they still have a few menu items that are delicious. But changing the portion sizes (smaller) as well as changing the way the beef brisket sandwich is made is a devastating mistake. It used to be the best sandwich in town, and now I would say one of the worse. I will still return for select items but the changes have greatly discouraged me to return as frequently as I have in the past. I would say this place is now a 50/50 toss of the coin. read more

This chain is one of the best BBQ restaurants I have eaten at. We had the wing special, 16 wings for $11. They were delicious! jucy crunchy full of flavour. The other meals we have had there were always good. The food is better than you expect at a chain. The menu is innovative for a BBQ joint. prices are great, the decor matches the theme, and does not look tacky, like so many others. The service is fast and efficient. We had our family Thanksgiving on the weekend, and wanted to just do something quiet tonight before sending the kids back to school. We called Montana's to see what the wait time was like - there was no wait! So we bundled up and headed over. Our server, Di, was amazing. This month they're featuring Cesar's, but I mentioned I liked sweeter drinks and she recommended their Big Momma's lemonade - delicious! We ordered for the kids first and then ourselves - pizza for the kids (though they made sure to ask if there was pineapple for their pizza), ribs for my husband and wings for me (1/2 price on Mondays!). The kids' meals arrived quickly and both were very happy with them. Our meals came a little slower and unfortunately, the ribs were rather cold. My husband mentioned it to the waitress, and she immediately took them back to the kitchen, and came back to tell us that they had put a fresh rack on the grill for him, and asked about getting him something to eat in the meantime. He chose the Caesar salad - but the hot ribs arrived about a minute after the salad! The salad was great, the ribs were hot and fresh, and they also brought new sides. When we were getting ready to finish up, Di, our waitress, returned to ask if we'd also like some donuts for dessert, on the house! We took them to go, and when we got the bill both the ribs and the donuts had been comped. We were there a bit longer than we usually stay at a restaurant, but both kids were happy and entertained (this was at / after their bedtime, our eldest is 5 and our youngest is 3.5), and really loved their ice cream sandwiches! We may have had a problem with part of our order, but the staff really took care of it quickly, and made sure we were happy with everything. Our waitress and the manager on duty apologized and really just made it a great experience in customer service. We will definitely be eating here again! read more

Just wanted to leave a little review. We had dinner at the Waterloo ON location at the boardwalk. Food was excellent, service was anything but. The restaraunt was maybe 1/4 full and Allison approached our table and introduced herself, then proceeded to take our drink and food order. Once we received our drinks she never visited our table again. She did pass by it multiple times, 6 times when our glasses were empty and sitting on the edge of the table, any further and they would have fallen off. Maybe that would have caught her attention. So we sat there for 20 minutes with empty glasses barely wanting to touch our food in case we got thirsty. 4 of the times she passed by she was on her way to the front desk to socialize with her coworkers as well as her manager who also passed by us multiple times and never said a word. Food was great, but the service left a very poor taste in our mouths. Hopefully this is rectified in the future so other customers may have a good dining experience read more

Ok to start, I don't write reviews ever. Like have never written one. But today's experience was and exception. We had my family come in and seated within 15 minutes (10 people) and our food took awhile and when I got my steak it was over cooked (I ordered medium). As it arrived my waitress noticed that it wasn't cooked well (the inside wasn't even pink), and took it back and got a new one within 20 minutes. The new one was amazing. Cooked perfectly and a great steak. I had no complaints. But then the manager came over to make sure we were all happy, and to apologize for the first steak and offered an additional salad, on the house. Then as supper progressed, she came back over to check on us and offered a free desert. Once we ordered desert and got the bill, she had given us 2 free deserts and a free salad. I used to like Montana's but this last experience makes me not want to go back again. My family and I went there at lunch time, but the place was not packed by any means. We were seated quickly and given menus. The waitress came by, asked for our drinks, brought us our drinks, and everything seemed good. And then, we don't see the waitress again. Actually, we see her occasionally bringing food to other tables, but never came to check on us even though we were trying to flag her down. We waited 15-20 minutes and the waitress never came. We flagged down another waiter to get her, but it was still another 5 minutes before she came to take our orders. She took our orders and then we don't see her again. It took a really long time for the food to get out. When the food finally did come out, it wasn't at the quality I expected at all. My chicken wrap was cold and the tortilla was already soggy. But the plate was super hot. Sorry, but putting cold food on a hot plate does not make it hot food. We were half way done eating before management came by to apologize for the wait. Apparently they were missing a cook and so the kitchen was slow. Well, if that was the case, the waitress could have told us that ahead of time. We could have decided to wait or chose to come back another day. Instead, we were made extremely unhappy. We weren't even given a discount for the trouble. I understand that they were short staffed but that does not excuse bad service and cold food. It will be a LONG time (if ever) before I go back there again. read more
