Bought a Mont Blanc Iced Sea, beautiful watch, but I've had an issue for about 4 months. The watch is running 20-25 sec fast. Watch is still under warranty, so it should be as easy as sending it in for service. MB has sent it in two times, both times the watch comes back "within specifications". When the repair center received the watch all they did was stick it on a time graph, time graph shows -4+3. When you wear the watch in real life, set it at noon, check noon the next day, it is 20-25 sec fast. Mont Blanc refuses to open the watch due to it being "within specifications". They also refuse to refund or partial refund or trade in. So now I have a $3500 piece of metal that can't do the sole purpose of telling time. read more

They are nice when they are taking your money. But I'd expect a premium customer service experience. I got a call from Gabriel where he let me know that I have a $20 credit that he missed from my prior visit. I had to get a pen and pencil serviced. Spent a lot of money for the service. I get my pen back with a blue refill. I call Gabriel and asked him if he can send me a black refill cause that's what I prefer. HE proceeds to LIE to me and said it's the same refill that i brought it in with. It didn't even have one. He replies and says that I can purchase a refill. I just spent almost $300 for pen servicing, and LOST the $20 credit. and he can't even spare a ink refill. terrible customer service for a premium brand. I purchased a watch at Montblanc Chicago location in April this year. From the beginning I had difficulty to change date and weeks after I noticed that luxury watch is running faster. in August I took it to store and received the reassurance that my watch will be fixed in a week. over 2 months later I went to store and demanded a replacement, upgrade of the watch or reimbursement and they declined it. I also requested to know date of production and I had to ask more than once. it was 3 year old and damaged watch I was charged close to $200.00 more than is the price on website. Do I have concern that I am the second owner of an old damaged watch. yes I do. Please be careful dealing with this Montblanc Boutique. I will not go there. read more

Stay away from this place at all costs. Once I've received a Mont Blanc fountain pen as a gift and brought it here for service. Because the gift was purchased in a non-English speaking country, the representative couldn't recognize some label on it and burst out expletives "what is this". Pretty annoying. Fast forward a few years now I've purchased an automatic watch from a Mont Blanc boutique in Europe and have been bringing my watch here for service after coming home to Chicago. So far the watch has stopped working multiple times and each time after I bring it in, they claim they have replaced all the internal parts but then again the watch starts having problems soon after the repair. After the latest repair, it has already stopped working even when I went to pick it up! And now examining the watch again, they claim it has been under "hard impact" and want to charge nearly $1K to fix it. If ever there was any hard impact, it could have only happened under the care of Mont Blanc since I never even touched it between the two repairs! Still they refuse to either refund or replace the product when it clearly has a major quality issue. During the two years after the purchase, the watch has spent more time under repair than on my wrist. If this is considered normal by the company, I think this brand doesn't care about its own reputation, standard, or customers at all. I will never purchase anything from this store or other stores of Mont Blanc again. read more

As an owner of a Montblanc pen that was over 10 years old, I decided to stop at the Michigan Avenue boutique to get replacement ink for my pen and to shop for a new one last January. I was assisted by a very snobby lady who was more interested in eating Wasa crackers, reading Cosmopolitan, wearing leopard reading glasses and ignoring me. I got the strangest look from her and I assumed she was also afraid of me since I was not dressed "like I shop at Michigan Avenue." I did buy ink during this visit, so not all was bad. Fast forward to August and I am all dressed up and pleasantly surprised at the remodeled store. I see Wasa cracker lady (and some other guy) again and my she remembers me, still not very attentive, even though I ask her I am in the market for a new pen. Long story short... I bought the pen at Von Maur. I miss the Mont Blanc shop on the first floor of Marshall Field's Water Tower Place. Sierra (the associate from Marshall Field's that always helped me) was such a diligent and pleasant employee. I give it 1 star for the employees and 2 stars for the products and the remodeled boutique read more

Great service. I wanted to buy a pen for my mom and my girlfriend. (Custom signed). I rolled in wearing a hoody, jeans and a back pack. I was immediately greeted and when I told them what I wanted, they started showing me the selection of pens. I found 2 that were very good and gave them the instructions on how I wanted them customized. They took my information down and told me it would be ready in 2 days to pick up. However, they would contact me before. Well, the very next day, I received a phone call telling me that the pens were ready. I went back, inspected them, they folded the pens up into gifts because I said that they were presents. Now granted that the pens are a little expensive, but they felt good writing. read more

Having read some of the negative reviews here I wasn't expecting much of this location. From my experience, I can say without a doubt I was treated to nothing but the best customer service and respect during my visit. I don't believe I look like the average shopper in a Mont Blanc store. I wear a full beard and look like I just crawled out from underneath a filthy pickup truck most days. I felt like I could have been homeless and been treated the same way. I dealt with Javien. Her business card states "Sales Professional" under her name and that is the damn truth. Not pushy and knows her product. I didn't expect a staff member to know much about Fountain Pens but she laid that to rest instantly. I was really on the fence about spending so much on a pen but she was very patient answering my concerns/questions and I even walked out of the store to "think about it" without buying anything. (Normal sales person would start with the pushy BS right about here) I came back an hour or so later and she was very sympathetic that I was about to be relinquished of so much cash for a pen. HAHA The pen is awesome and so was my visit to the store. I've even received a hand-written letter from Javien asking if I had any further needs. The service here is gracious and the selection goes far beyond what one can find in the nearby department stores. Gabriel went out of his way to help me select a card case as part of my boyfriend's holiday gift. Moreover, he took the time to give me a demo of one of the augmented paper devices (essentially a notebook with a digital component that allows handwritten notes to be accessed via smart device or shared electronically) as he could tell that I was interested in this product offering. Even though I went a more traditional route, I am glad that I had the opportunity to see this product in action. I am very satisfied with the card case that I chose and so happy that it can be brought in to be embossed, free of charge, if boyfriend so chooses :). I cannot wait to return to purchase future gifts, or for some indulgent-self gifting, as there is a canary-yellow card case that I have my eye on. read more

The selection at this store is awesome and so is the customer service. I was assisted by Michael and I was in to buy a pair of cufflinks and he actually suggested I don't buy those and buy another pair, which I did and am very happy that I did. He gave me really good advice on the wallet as well, and they have a pretty wide selection, which made it easier. Michael was extremely helpful and engaging and even though I showed up 2 minutes before they closed for the evening, didn't let it bother them. Do NOT ever shop here. I have a collection of Mont Blanc pens that I needed refills for so I stopped by Saturday October 17th around noon. I was looking for Fineliner refills in Pacific Blue with a broad point. I was very rudely greeted by the 2 gentlemen that happened to be there that morning. They clearly acted as if they were doing me this huge favor by waiting on me. I was told in no uncertain terms that Mont Blanc did not make a broad point even though I had just thrown one away that morning. Both salespeople insisted that they had worked there for over 10 years and this product never existed. They went out of their way to say that I was basically an idiot. I go home and look on the website and there it is on the first page, Pacific Blue in a Broad point. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE TALKED DOWN TO!!!!! read more

Overall I've bought a pen there and had an old fountain pen restored. Both transactions were highly professional and I received regular phone calls on my pen's progress. I just had my my watch repaired under warranty and had a new metal bracelet installed to replace the leather strap.Service is great, especially Mary who kept me informed by phone during the entire process, and the staff knowledgeable about the products. Although I feel empathetic with previous reviewer (EC), in terms of being 'ignored and judged' by sales associates who think that the way I dress determines the amount of money I carry in my pocket, I must say my visit at Montblanc on Michigan Ave was a pleasant one. The salesman who helped me out was Mr Michael Columbia. He was very nice, and helpful, in helping me out find the pen I liked. He let me try his own pens (he had like 3 or 4 in his pocket!) and I ended up buying the Mark Twain Writers Limited Edition (the rollerball). The pen is extremely beautiful, and I am highly satisfied with my purchase. I would have never imagined I could dream about a pen, and that I would rush out of work to go home to write ... I just wished they would be more affordable (or me richer...) so I could get more and more Montblanc pens! This is the first Montblanc I own, and it may not be the last. I will definitely go back to this store hoping that Mr Columbia will be there to assist me again in choosing my Montblanc pen (writing instrument, as they call them ...). read more

My son received a key chain from Mont Blanc and a college graduation gift last year. It recently broke and we did not have any of the original packaging or even a receipt. I called the Chicago store and was taken care of by Patrick Parkey. I have been in retail for over 35 years and never have I had better customer service. I read the previous review with some curiosity, as I have always received excellent service from the Michigan avenue location and actually prefer it to the other two in the Chicagoland area, higher sales tax notwithstanding. The first several times I have walked in wearing jeans, a tee shirt, and wildly unkempt hair, yet the sales associates were very friendly and offered to show me anything from the display cases. Suggestions were also offered, and at no point did I feel pressured to buy, and I was only shopping for a pen case my first visit. Frankly, if I saw someone eating crackers or reading a magazine at a luxury goods retailer, I would feel more than a little surprised -it projects a poor image to neglect potential customers, especially at such a locale. If a sales associate ever presents themselves as snobby or disdainful of my appearance, I resolve not to shop there. This store actually is an example, to me, of a place where they will treat anyone browsing as a serious potential customer. I could recommend the sales associate who has helped me, but none of the people working there have offered anything but excellent service, so I wonder at the Wasa crackers lady. Give the store a chance if you like fountain pens; you may be pleasantly surprised. read more

There was an absolutely gorgeous, Montblanc fountain pen which was originally owned by my grandfather, used for decades and given to my mother many years ago when she was in HS. Sometime well before I was born, and perhaps around the time my mother was in college, the gorgeous pen was lost or stolen. Having heard so much about this beloved pen, I set out to the Michigan Ave. to store to see if I could reinvent and carry out the history of this remarkable writing piece with a new pen. I'm not sure why staff was marveled by my story of this family pen and so eager to help, but they were. Sure, I dressed comfortably Michigan Avenue, but I don't think that was it. I made it clear I needed appropriate info before I buy and I found all the help I needed. To purchase a strikingly similar pen (except my grandfathers was completely manual, ink bottle and all, which is not a consideration) to the one my grandfather and mother had, I'll need to spend close to 2 grand. While I am seriously considering purchasing a Montblanc pen for my mom, for Mother's Day and her birthday, the staff working on a relatively busy evening had no idea what my intentions were other than I wasn't plunking down that much $$$$ without careful consideration first. I felt that my business mattered to the sales staff and that they were motivated enough to want me to return if I was to buy one of their writing instruments. read more

The store's good reviews are all really old.... The 4-star doesn't mean anything now.... I think there is something missing from the ppl who works for Mont Blanc. The Mont Blanc in San Francisco is the absolute worst boutique ever(staffs are rude and incompetent). The Mont Blanc on Mag Mile is better in terms of friendliness. However, you still get a sense that they are after your sales. I tried to order a watch strap for my mont blanc watch 3 times at this store, each time they either couldn't find my order record so they had to create a new order or could find my order but telling me a different delivery timeframe. They started by telling me 7 months ago that it would take 1 months, then 3 months, then 3 weeks, then 2 months. I am still waiting for them to call me and I am not hopeful they will. I am really disappointed about Mont Blanc stores, staffs and services. The brand is not even that great. read more

Terrible, terrible. I called for a deployment buckle and a spare band for my new Mont Blanc watch not once, twice nor three times. Most of the employees have a hard time following through with orders. I called once gave the style number of my watch and what I wanted. The lady then thought I was talking about a pen (after I said watch at least three times). She called back later and quoted me over $500 which I knew was wrong. I called again and talked to Michael about what I wanted and the previous quote. He said the old quote was wrong an it would be $200. I asked him to order the deployment buckle and spare band. 11 days later I had not heard anything so I called an left a message. No response for 24 hours. I called back again and got a very helpful guy, Paul. He researched my order which was never placed and now neither item I wanted is available in the USA so now I have a $1600 watch I'll rarely be able to wear. You failed with customer service with me. Previously my boyfriend bought a watch here. First the chronograph didn't work in his first watch so we went back in and one of the male salesmen moves us aside (away from people thinking about buying watches) and hands us a 'new' watch and moves us along without looking at the watch. Well after we left, we noticed he gave us a floor model replacement because it was already stratched. After talking to Jill, the manager, a couple of times, he was assured a brand new watch was ordered for him. He finally got a new watch that works. It shouldn't take the long to get a good watch at a supposedly prestigous place. We have been in other Mont Blanc stores with much better results. read more

I have been in this boutique two or three times. I have purchased a pen or accessory each time. The products, selection and customer service/knowledge has been great. I could go crazy in this store. So many fantastic items. The pens are in great condition (most stores have product out that is marked or scuffed). No discounts or negotiating but that seems to be fairly common in corporate owned boutiques. I did get a free ink refill package with my pen purchases. The pens themselves are just fantastic. ReliabIiable and gorgeous looking. I love the way I feel when I take the pen out of the pouch and begin using it. I am looking forward to going back and making my next purchase. read more

They do not stand behind their products and provide very rude service. I had a $250 belt for which the buckle broke and became inoperable after 2.5 years. Their store associate was extremely rude when I brought it in and said that I must have done something wrong as "he has had his belt for 10 years from there". Then he said it's out of warranty and they likely won't fix it. He sent it out for service. After 3 calls by me to follow up on the order (no word from Montblanc) they determined it was not fixable and that the only thing I could do was to buy a brand new belt. They would not sell just a new buckle, would not offer and discount to account for their quality problem, and again were rude as can be. I would avoid shopping here in the future. The warranty and fixability of their products is a corporate issue but the rudeness of the store staff is an issue at this Chicago location. read more
