Montecristo Jewelers first opened in 1978 and have since expanded tremendously. They may be prohibitively expensive but they carry some of the most exclusive lines (Bulgari, Rolex, Omega, Harry Winston and Cartier to name a few) as well as their own in-house designs. This is their flagship store. The staff here are incredibly knowledgeable and will answer any questions you may have concerning the 4Cs (cut, colour, carat and clarity) and will work with you to design the style of your choice (a friend of mine recently commissioned them to create his fiancée's engagement ring). I was here with a friend in January 2014 - at the Oakridge store. She was shopping around for wedding bands to match with her engagement ring and for her fiance. The girl who served her appears not to be interested in helping her. The first thing she asked my friend was where she got the engagement ring. My friend replied it was from Cartier. So the girl said "Why don't you go back and buy the wedding bands at Cartier". My friend was shock and replied "I want to shop around to see what is out there". Then the girl started to help but then started bashing about Cartier and Tiffany - how most guys thinks with the brand name means better diamonds but Montecristo has better diamond. Quite frankly, I think trashing other stores is unprofessional. I don't recall the girl name other than she has a cell phone case that says "Mr. Right". I am not sure if all the service at Montecristo is like this. In the past - a few years ago, I got pearl earrings there and the service was excellent. As such, I can't gave this a 1 star rating, but the recent experience was quite uncomfortable so I am giving it two stars. In the end, my friend went back to Cartier. read more

They have many locations across GVA and I've been to all of them to try watches on. All their sales people I've encountered have no knowledge of what they're selling. I'd throw a question, simple one as "how big is the case or is this the newest version" and they have no clue and always refer to the catalogues. I'll have to correct them and tell them that there's a new version announced 6 months ago and this piece I'm holding will be deprecated, and they just nod. All they care about is the sales, they're not prepared/interested in building relationships or providing customer service. When I'm about to buy or inquire about a $10-15k watch, the least I expect is basic knowledge on the item and decent customer service. For instance, I'd go to another local jeweller for a watch (would leave it anonymous), and sales people I meet know about the watch. I'll ask about 10 different watches, they're aware of the sizes, model reference numbers, their state (whether it's a new model or being retired, limited edition, etc.), used market value, etc.. Sure, sometimes they forget the reference number or get confused with something else, but they're still on track. On the other hand, Sales reps (that I've met so far) at Montecristo would just stand there handing me over watches, but no knowledge whatsoever. At Metrotown location, I had to argue with one of them once because I was inquiring if there will be a discount on the model that was being retired. He knew about the announcement and was trying to educate me but got emotional and almost yelled at me for mentioning the announcement. The experience I get from Tourneau(US), Lugaro(local), and Palladio(local) are far far better every single time. They know what they're talking about, will provide a drink, and make me comfortable. They make me feel like they see me as one of them, a watch lover, and want to talk about my interest, not today's potential successful transaction or not. I really hope they hire some educated/enthusiastic people on what they're selling. read more

In the past two years I have purchased three high-end swiss watches (two from the flagship store downtown, and one from the Metrotown shop) and have nothing but good things to say about them. I recently purchased a Rolex and I must say that out of the only three authorized Rolex dealers in Vancouver, Monte Cristo is head and shoulders above the others. I was not impressed by Palladio's service (they were downright rude and snobby) or Brinkhaus (pricing couldn't match Monte Cristo's but they were at least pleasant). Monte Cristo not only has the best pricing, but the staff are excellent. Knowledgeable, helpful, patient. They go out of their way to provide excellent customer service. The sales associate I worked with - Sunmi - even replied to my emailed/texted questions on her day off. I am from WA, so a lot of our communication was via email. Her replies were always fast and thorough. Sam fitted my watch and meticulously explained the care and maintenance of it. I am quite picky and it took a while but he was ever so patient and pleasant. He has a great sense of humor and personality. While I was there I had a chance to view their custom jewelry. I was so impressed that they handcraft and hand draw all of their designs. No CADs and wax molds here! One of the very few jewelers left who do things this way - the right way! It couldn't have been a better experience overall. Highly recommended! read more

The Italian jewellery house is famous for fine, carefully designed beautiful high high quality diamond, semi-precious and other designs. My ring was a white gold and diamond round design that was so shiny it grabbed attention everywhere I went. They also carry high end watches like Rolex, Bulgari and others. I walked into the store on Hastings and asked a lady if they polished gold rings, as my wedding ban has marks. The lady was not too sure and while she was "thinking" to give me an answer, the phone rang. She decided to answer it and suddenly became busy taking notes, while I was left there waiting and standing like a lamppost. I was not going to wait for her to finish talking with another customer while I was there first. I therefore decided to leave immediately. If the store was customer-focused, it would not abandon a customer in order to answer another. I suggest that lady to use her common sense next time and service customers one at a time. read more

BURNABY METROTOWN LOCATION Not reviewing this store but the one in metrotown - front staff girl there was annoying who was opinionated on what she thinks is good - when I mentioned what I liked she told me it was ugly - also offended when she said my price range seemed to high for me - shame the girl probably makes my days worth of income in a month as I am a professional and business owner - and yet she was so concerned about how much my fiance can spend - which is between us only - not that its about the money but attitude of presuming things is very annoying - will not go back even though they have nice rings and jewelery - will consider other locations - girl seemed racist. read more

Bought my Rolex in the Oakridge store 3 years ago. Wonderful experience: my sales lady, one of the other sales staff and owner were all amazing. Went into the downtown Hastings location for the first time today, they let me in, sized me up and I guess I wasn't worth giving service to. The salesman was so condescending, patronizing and rude. I would never shop there. Somebody must tell them that this is the west coast and people might be wearing casual clothes which does not mean that they can't be a potential customer. read more

I have my beautiful watch, We have bought Jewllery from the case and had Family rings custom made and repairs. I have always been treated with respect and I might say I our family is not rich ( hard working regular folks,) but when it comes to purchasing high quality. I trust Montecristo, Sam and the staff at the stores that I have been to. Though the stores are very high end they do have some beautiful simple pieces at good price points for the highest quality jewellery . What service??? They let you in to their store and the lady salesperson didn't move from her spot. I inquired about a watch. I asked her if they were authorized AP and she did not even move when I inquired about an AP royal oak. She stayed at the end counter. How can you sell a watch if you don't offer someone to look, feel or even give me a price?? Obviously she sized me up and thought I can't afford it. I purchased a rolex watch for over $10,000(yes ten thousand)less than 6 wks ago and the watch did not keep time properly. This store would not consider replacing this watch for one of the same value nor would they compensate me in any way for this $10,000 lemon. The service here I found deplorable considering they bent over backward to get my cash sale but practically ran the other way when I brought the rolex to them with concerns that within such a sort period of time to have this kind of trouble I can hardly wait for a yr from now. This was a total disappointment and will never spend another dime in this joint. I should have shopped at Peoples Jewelers at least they offer a 100 day money back guarantee. I took a Bulgaria necklace to the store for it be sent back to the manufacturer for repair. Instead, they did the repair themselves, without my approval and charged me royally for the repair. When. I advised that this wasn't great customer service I was told "it is what it is" several times. As a regular watch buyer I will not return. read more

I brought a watch in for unscheduled service to the Oakridge Store as a watch technician left a cleaning brush bristle in the face of my watch during my last service. I was promised a call back and/or email when the watch was ready in 4 weeks. Six weeks went by and no call so I made the call to see if there were any issues. The employee indicated that the watch has been ready for 3 weeks. Not a big deal. When I go to pick up the watch, the guy who I've been dealing with for the past 12 years and referring friends and family to presents me with the report from Rolex indicating that the brush bristle has been removed and there were no issues with the watch. The sales rep then proceeds to tell me that my bezel was damaged and he proceed to do a in-house repair for a "very common" problem with the indicator marking breaking and it would be $100. He would prefer "Cash" and would wait for me to goto the bank machine. I initially paid him but felt something was wrong. Luckily I had a photocopy of the watch that they gave me when my watch was brought in for service. The photo showed no missing or broken indicators. He then proceeded to blame his fellow sales staff for writing this charge on the service envelop. He ends up pulling out the envelop with the cash I gave him from his jacket pocket. I caught this guy for trying to rip me off and I will never and don't recommend anyone to purchase from this company. I spoke to the owner and he has not done anything about employing a staff member who is ripping off his customers and misrepresenting a luxury brand. Do not buy from them. I was @ the flagship store to have my new Rolex appraised for insurance purpose. Harvey, the appraiser was doing a great job in apprasing my watch and had it done in no time. However, there is a CHINESE lady that works there just ruined my day... When she asked me where I got my watch, I told her I bought it in HK, and the price I paid with duty and taxes was $8500.00. First response I got from her was a gig, followed by laugh. Why do you buy in Hong Kong? she asked. I told her that I was saving myself $600.00, besides Rolex gives 2 yrs worldwide warranty, no matter where you are in the world. She then tells every single person in the store that I had bought my Rolex from HK, and that I was paying too much and there is no warranty applicable to me... I then asked her the price on this same watch that they carry, but "out of stock" @ the moment. She replied $8140.00 + tax. How can she say that I had overpaid for my watch, when I am $600.00 less than their price??? I just feel sorry for the owner of the store that has this kind of employee working, and eventually ruin the image of the high end jewellery store. read more
