First time coming here and most likely my last. A friend of mine referred this place to me because the give back your negatives (unlike walgreens or any other drug store). Brought in my film over a week and a half ago and they said they had to send it somewhere else because it's slide film. That's fair. However I still have yet to receive it. Needed this film for a final that was due today. Guess I'm failing the class. Will update review based on the quality when (or if) I ever receive it. read more

Bay Photo - possibly the worst "service" I ever endured in Monterey. The owner tried to cheat me with a scan of some negatives to place on a CD. He gave me a CD and the scanned images were unbelievably tiny; something like 400 pixels by 300 pixels. I took the CD back in and explained the problem. He must have thought I was some out-of town rube when he said "Those are the thumbnails. The large versions are on there." What he did not count on is that I am a computer file expert and had already scanned the entire CD - and nothing bigger than his thumbnails were there. When I explained and then asked for my money back he got angry and said no and headed towards the back room I then explained how I intended to write a review of his horrific business. He angrily came storming back out and threw some cash at me. As I picked it up from the floor he started yelling furiously. He then followed me outside and yelled at me as I walked away. Guess when I'll ever go back there ? That would be never. And I'm happy to tell all my photography friends about it. Not surprisingly, it turns out he treated another photographer friend the same way. read more

This is why small businesses die. Not staffed enough to handle the client orders.....and then poor quality products are delivered at a high price. The sales clerk overcharged mii for 3- 8x10's to the tune of $12 and change. There were 3 other customers waiting behind mii so I didn't want to argue with her. This was my THIRD attempt at picking up my pictures. I placed my order for 21- 8x10's at 4pm. When I went in to attempt the first pickup the next afternoon, it was clear my order had not even been started. When I came back 2 hours later, the store was closed for a break. By the third visit to the store to pickup one order, I just wanted to leave. The exceptionally POOR Quality of the color of the prints guarantees, I will Never go back. If you absolutely Have To get prints done on Lighthouse Ave in Monterey, just go to CVS- at least CVS offers coupons for the same quality. read more

Mark and his crew has been nothing but helpful and informative with me and my new hobby. There seems to be so much to learn about the point and shoot film camera, and I can't admit how many times I've come in here with a busted film and other issues. Made me enjoy the entire learning process and coming in to the lab to say hello. Mark is responsive via email as well. Do not waste your time and money elsewhere like I did before I came here. I cannot say enough how amazing this business is. They enlarged some very old small photos of my grandpa for me from the 1940s; and they came out so clear and beautiful. I also brought them some digitals and they blew them up for me. I was amazed at the quality. I cannot believe how beautiful my pictures look printed. Had a good experience purchasing 35mm film here while I was passing through town. They have an assortment of 35mm color and black & white film. For 120 (from what I could see) they only carry black & white Ilford, no color. Also purchased a battery for my point & shoot. It was cheaper than the CVS across the street. read more

Really the last photo lab around! I no longer like the quality of Costco's photo services and Shutterfly doesn't cut it. Just recently I've been going to Monterey Bay Photo Lab on a regular basis. The quality is really nice. The customer service is great--they know their stuff and are friendly and helpful! Just know if you go during Christmas they're busy with gifts and cards but they'll get your stuff done! I had some Father's Day prints done and again they were great! I highly recommend them! read more

My wife had her passport photo taken at Monterey Bay Photo Lab. The outcome was really out of proportion. When I went back to have them re-done the gentleman who assisted me was sure it was the right size and my head photo waS consistent with U.S. passport. We went to Fedex Office and had a set made and the rep who assisted us said the passport photo taken at Monterey Bay Photo Lab was not compliant. She even showed us a special camera in which specifically was calibrated to take a passport photo. Anyway, I hope Monterey Bay Photo lab had better customer service and had friendly service and put customer service at the top of their list. I would not recommend this establishment. read more

These folks are great, which is a relief because they are the only photographer in the area I've found that can do Canadian passports and other Canadian legal photos. They even did ones of my squirmy kids. read more

I think people may be confusing this lab with the much larger Bay Photo lab in Santa Cruz/Capitola area. I'm sorry, but this place is a joke. The quality of my prints were terrible, the service subpar and the professionalism lacking. I usually use Nations Photo lab or Bay Photo but had to use these guys for a rush order. I really regret it. I will not be returning. Walmart can do a better job, honestly. read more

My very best friend and the most talented photographer I know gave me photos they had taken of me as a gift. Bay Photo developed them as they were film pictures and they did such a stunning job. I was so pleased with the advice and service I was given today for my own pictures that they are blowing up to 11 x 14. They are really a full service provider so they even do retouching and editing of pictures. They will remain my go - to guys from now on. read more
