My wife and I had a meeting in town and traffic was lighter than expected so we arrived early. With this time we searched for non-fastfood fare. Finding this small place was a bonus. Not only was the food flavorful with generous portions but the proprietor was our cook. He was friendly and gave recommendations on the menu. While waiting for the plates to be served we browsed the market shelves and found an array of items to get so we could cook and serve them later. We will return with more time to eat more slowly. This restaurant is in the back of a market. There is seating inside and outside. There is not a restroom that I could see, and I didn't ask for one. One person working here, and it took about 25 minutes to prepare my food. I dined inside. I ordered lamb & chicken over rice platter. It comes with salad, hummus, taboleh & tzazki sauce. The portions are ridiculously huge, no way to eat it in one sitting unless you're a professional eater or starving. As for the food itself, the chicken and lamb unfortunately was not good. Overcooked and flavorless. The rice was was warmed in their microwave. I was very disappointed. This place is tiny & you could easily pass it by. But don't. This market/take out is a hidden gem. I went in there at 10:10 am on a recommendation from my favorite hairdresser. She and her son are foodies. So I knew I would not be disappointed at Halal. I was greeted by the proprietor who looked like he was waiting for me (or some other hungry customers). I ordered the chicken wrap & the gyro wrap. The proprietor chopped vegetables, sizzled meat & assembled the wraps. It smelled delightful. I was out of the shop within 20 minutes. Fast forward to this evening when we actually ate the wraps. A few seconds in the microwave & dinner was on the table. The spices, the sauce, the vegetables & the protein all combined were truly excellent. This was a gourmet delight. I will return for more Mediterranean goodness. read more

The Falafel Plate had a nice variety of sides along with the falafel patties, and every one of them was uniquely delicious. The owner seems like such a sweet man. The place itself is pretty old with somewhat slim pickings as far as middle eastern groceries however the basics are readily available. I had a craving for falafel and Mediterranean flavors which is how I found myself here. I ordered the falafel platter and the beef and lamb platter. The portions are huge and the gyro meat tasted good but I didn't care for the falafel unfortunately. If you've got a large appetite please help yourself to some super delicious wrap or plate combo. Their chicken entrees are the best in town, no joke. If you've got a family of two, the wrap will fill them up. If you've got a family of three, the plate will suffice. The portions will feed a small army. This man, the man who runs the show, is very very generous. Not only in portions, but also in flavor! The sauce in all of this is a big tangy or spicey, and it is the star of the show. Everything just comes together great. There is seating inside which seems comfortable. If you like sitting outside, there are a few tables there too. Almost feels like I just robbed a nice middle eastern man of his food with how much he gave me. Super good food and incredibly fresh. Even the tomatoes taste fresh and full of flavor.
