Chicken Shawarma they should call the mega Shawarma
    Mike B.

Habibi Kebab is one of those hidden gems you want to keep a secret but just can't stop talking about. This little hole in the wall is serving up some of the best food I've had in a long time. I ordered the chicken shawarma, za'atar fries, and a side of hummus -- and honestly everything was perfect. The hummus had just the right amount of tahini and olive oil -- it was smooth, rich, and fresh. You could tell it was made with care. The za'atar fries were something totally unique. I've never had fries like that before and honestly they were on point. A different experience for sure, but in the best way possible. The shawarma was absolutely fire. And let me tell you -- this thing was HUGE. I'm talking the size of a Chipotle burrito. Literally the biggest shawarma I've ever had in my life. The best part? There are no fillers. It's just pure meat and goodness. The chicken is clearly high quality, the crunch is spot on, and every bite is packed with flavor. They do not cut corners here. If you haven't been, do yourself a favor and go. Habibi Kebab is the real deal and I will definitely be coming back.

Pre formed meat patties with fake grill marks.

I'm sorry to say this because I was excited for this place to open but it was TERRIBLE. Couple of nights ago we picked up food to take home. First strike was the gyro meat is pre formed strips with fake grill marks that they just warm up. Second strike was the chicken and beef shawarma was old and completely dry and hard. Third strike was the tzatziki sauce was spoiled!! Gross! Don't waste your money here, we have much better options in town

Top: flaffel wrap. Bottom: beef & lamb wrap (both ordered "crispy"

So happy to see a new place in Marina where the brewery used to be. Came around 330 for a late lunch & was immediately greeted. Service was fast. We each ordered a shawarma wrap both "crispy" but when we got it, only one side was "crispy" I was expecting something like a chimichanga I guess. Great flavors on both wraps. 1 beef/lamb & 1 flaffel. We ordered some flaffels to go. Definitely home made w/great flavor. Will be back to try other items on the menu!

    Lentil soup with cilantro

First try at this new restaurant and really wanted to like it. The server was attentive and friendly, but everything we tasted was bland or just not tasty. Prices are a bit high at around $25 a plate. Lentil soup was watery and mostly tasted like cilantro since that was fresh on top. The hummus was my least favorite thing on the plate. It tasted weird. The rice was the best thing on the plate. I found the meats, chicken and beef to be dry and overdone. Had to add a lot of sauce to it. Pita was also a bit bland. I don't know if they are just not salting the food right or maybe it was an off day. It's just didn't mesh with my tastes. I wouldn't return. I'm not sure how all these high star reviews found their way here. Maybe they stopped at the dispensary around the corner before eating here.

Baba Ghanouj is delicious but need to give 1 more free pita or naan refill

The good! - friendly service - huge menu selection - generous wrap filling, delicious authentic seasoning - beautiful job converting the bar Caveats: - the Baba Ghanouj is a large portion but you only get 1/2 naan, when we asked for an extra naan they brought 1 pita and charged $1.99 - Be prepared: $5.00 for soft drinks and 3% charge for using a credit card

I must say Habibis Kabab is now my favorite restaurant in Marina. The service was excellent and the restaurant is very clean. I had to take my food order to go and the flavor of everything was excellent. Make sure to ask for extra chili sauce with your order if you like spice! I'm not sure what the fuss is with some of these comments and the complaining about prices. Given the type of food and wide variety they have to offer, their prices are excellent. Soft drinks also comes with a free refill, I'll be back Habibi!!

Dolmas and lamb & beef wrap

The value proposition is unmatched in the area. Huge wrap filled with meat for $15-16, tasty as well. Very quick service. I recommend

The restaurant is a little hard to find the first time around, as it is in a small strip mall, so really look for the address sign on the left as you drive up Reindollar from Del Monte Ave.

The food is delicious! The Chicken wings with spice sriracha bomb! the smash burger and fries bomb! Hummus with pita bread bomb! And the Mediterranean fries with your choice of meat bomb, bomb!! Not only was the food on par but Hamada as bartender making drinks on point you can't go wrong with the General Historic Bar if your looking for a cool environment with chill vibes and great food and drinks this is the place. I've tried to restrain myself from writing a review because it may come off like I'm biased and plus I wanted to keep Gate keep this place as my bar and didn't want anyone to know but this place deserves it's flowers! Delicious and unique mediterranean meal…read more I ordered the Mishmish chicken and lamb shank freekeh. The freekeh was delicious, with nuts mixed in as well. Lamb shank was very tender, super good with the roux. The Mishmish chicken had a sweet apricot sauce which complemented it very well. I would come again if I'm ever in Carmel! We arrived at 6:45 p.m. for our 6:50 p.m. reservation and were seated promptly as a party of three. The waiter "threw the menus" on our table and walked away. About 10-15 minutes later, someone finally came to take our order. We ordered three entrées, a hummus appetizer, and a cheese bread. By around 7:00 p.m., our order had been placed with the kitchen. Unfortunately, we did not receive any food until approximately 7:45 p.m. After waiting 45 minutes, we politely asked our waiter if he could check on our order and give us an estimate of how much longer it would take. His response was surprisingly rude: "I don't know how much time your order will take. I'll have to go check." He disappeared into the kitchen and returned holding a small piece of paper with our order written on it. He then began reading the items back to us. Naturally, we assumed he was trying to verify the order, so my friend started confirming the dishes. The waiter immediately held up his hand to stop him and said, "I can see what you guys ordered. You don't have to say it to me." I explained that he appeared to be confirming the order, which is why we were responding. He simply walked away. At this point, we were frustrated by both the wait and the attitude. We told him that if the food could not arrive within the next five minutes, we were willing to pay for what we had already received and have the rest of the order canceled. Rather than apologizing or trying to resolve the situation, he pushed back and launched into a strange lecture. He told us that where he grew up, people were not taught to "talk back" and then gestured toward our table while saying that nowadays everyone feels entitled and wants their food immediately. For the record, asking about food 50 minutes after placing an order is not entitlement. Had we been demanding our food five minutes after ordering, that would be a different story. We were simply asking for basic communication and reasonable service. As for the food itself: - The hummus was decent, but the Lebanese lamb hummus contained very little lamb and was mostly topped with tomatoes. - The cheese bread was disappointing. The bread tasted stale and wasn't properly toasted. - The Chicken MishMish was interesting and probably the highlight of the meal. The chicken itself wasn't particularly juicy, but the sauce was flavorful and well executed. The rice portion, however, felt quite small. - The lamb ravioli was good and easily the best dish we ordered. - The kafta meatballs were solid but not particularly memorable. In the end, did I miss out on anything by not eating here before? No. Did I gain anything from finally trying it? Not really. Would I go back? Definitely not. What I will remember is not the food but the service. The entire experience felt like the staff were doing us a favor by allowing us to eat there. Spending roughly $150 and leaving feeling disrespected is not something I plan to repeat. If you're looking for an average meal accompanied by long waits, unnecessary attitude, awkward conversations, and a tense dining environment, then Yafa might be exactly what you're looking for. Good luck!

So we decided to stop by for lunch the next day after a nice hike along the beach so we were quite hungry, which is a good thing because the servings are quite hearty. The meal started with some very nice bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Along with a couple glasses of local sparkling wine. I ordered the lamb kebabs and my partner ordered a Greek salad. The lamb kebabs were served with s Greek salad, rice pilaf, Tzatziki sauce and warm pita bread, The Greek Salad was also served with Tzatziki sauce and pita bread. I have to say that all elements of the meal were over the top excellent, down to the wonderful Tzatziki sauce. It was a fabulous meal. We were too sated to order a dessert and were brought a couple of small pieces of baklava to finish the meal. Service was warm and professional. Highly recommended!

The ambiance inside is eclectic, charming, and comfortable, good for small groups of 2-4 people or a family. The service was a bit slow, but our waiter was kind. They brought out the bread first, which paired well with the oil/balsamic mixture. Then, we ordered the Dametra Royal Combination, the Greek Combination platter, and the chicken shawarma sandwich. The Royal combination platter was good for sharing and gave me the chance to try all the appetizers that I was craving. The tzatziki and hummus were my favorite thing on the table overall. However, the dolmas were a bit too salty and the spanakopita was a bit soggy. The combination platter had well cooked lamb and a salad with hummus and pita. The lamb was a bit bland, but had a tender texture and was a sizable portion. The chicken shawarma sandwich was also a bit bland and difficult to eat since the outside was too hard. However, the waiters gave us free baklava when they saw we didn't really finish our meals. Overall, the prices were expensive, but the portions and ambiance were good. If you're looking for a Mediterranean meal while at Carmel-By-the-Sea, Dametra is a good option.
