Ordered a grilled chicken plate which is a kabob w/ large onion chunks, yellow rice, pita bread and two sides. I chose Greek salad and the phyllo spinach cheese (spanakopita). My meal was far more than I can eat at one sitting- easily shareable for an average eater. My daughter had shawarma and hummus, which I enjoyed being able to taste also. The service was great too. The man who helped us was patient in sharing our options and what things were. I'd highly recommend this Mediterranean food spot to anyone wanting to grab and go and looking for a healthier option. Greek salad was delicious. 2. Beef/lamb w rice, hummus, spanakopita. Beef w lamb was more tender. Seemed a bit bland but when i microwaved leftovers the next day seemed a bit salty lol. Wow! Amazing eggplant (smoky, and tasty). The gyro plate was delish with the lamb and beef being tender and the rice was flavored underneath. The spanakopita was flaky and also packed with delicious inside spinach and feta. Service was immediate and wow what a fun dinner time atmosphere. They encouraged us to dance with the live music. Everything was so fresh and DELICIOUS! Our party enjoyed all the standard dishes and some specialty items as well: Tzatziki and Hummus, served with warm, fluffy pita for dipping. Falafel, Chicken Shawarma, Chicken Kabob, Ultimate Vegan Delight. All of the sauces were so tasty too. My husband loved the Morrocan Mint Tea. The best for me was the Baklava--flaky and rich with nuts and honey and a hint of rose mmmmmmmmmmm All of the staff were for friendly and helpful. The place was very clean and fresh and bright. One of my all time faves in Monterey. I frequent this spot and never get tired of it. My go to is a wrap with the chicken, rice, lemon/herbs and olives. The serving sizes are huge and can even be shared. Service is always fast even when they get busy. They also have baklava which is pretty popular. Dear Dametra Monterey, I love your food. It is definitely one of my favorite place to grab a quick bite during my lunch hour. But why does this location have such a hard time wrapping the wraps? I picked up a Falafel wrap today and it's hard to eat everything spills out, which is a bit annoying for someone that eats while she works. This isn't the first time it's happened at this location. If a takeout place will charge $40 plus at least make it worth it. Not sure if both Monterey and Marina are under the same ownership but Monterey could learn a thing or two from Marina. Went near close time and they had plenty of ingredients to give good sized portions. Employee who prepared our order was acting as if the food was hers by the portions she gave us. I asked for all the fixings and tells me that more than 3 fixings will be .75 extra per fixing. Marina does not charge extra anymore and the quality of the food was abysmal as was the service. If they dont want to serve good quality then maybe they should hire better employees and train them on how to prepare a good sized portion meal. read more

Well, the meat was tepid at best, the pita was definitely not fresh and the service was lackluster ...At the checkout I stood right in front of the cashier who was looking out the window and I had no choice than to wave at them and say 'HELLO' ? to snap them out of their gaze. We hoped to sit in but the place was still knee high with wine sales rather than the stools and tables being available again, we therefore sat on a dirty table outside, under a heater that was off while the June gloom fog rolled over us and wondered what the heck just happened. I'd have thought with COVID this place would be buttoned up and running like a military operation as knowing Bashar and Faisal well and how hard they work.. I love this restaurant so its unfortunate that I have to leave a negative review for them. Between this location and Marina I have been dining at Dametra for four years. The food is tasty, but there are two major issues. One, they always short change mobile orders in comparison to in-person orders. By that I mean, if you order in-person you get hearty portions of fresher food. When you place a mobile order they skimp on meat, and frequently give you burned food. The more signicant issue is I have now, for the second time, received an entree with a staple in it! One time is forgivable, kitchens are hectic and a mistake can be made, but TWICE? That is serious quality control that can cause a major health issue. Please fix these issues, or risk losing a longtime customer. We have Nick the Greek here now, I'll have to give them a shot soon. read more
