Having larger dogs in Monterey makes it impossible to find a decent rental, so I was very lucky to find Monterey Townhouse. When my roommate and I first went to the office, we were in shock that there were no weight restrictions and the pet deposit price is very reasonable. Kyle and Veronica are wonderful - very responsive, and genuinely care about the well-being of their tenants. Beware!!! I moved into this apartment complex in August 2024 with high hopes after a promising tour. Unfortunately, that optimism was short-lived. This place has been nothing but a constant source of frustration, and I feel compelled to warn others before they make the same mistake. Let's start with the hidden fees. After paying over $100 in non-refundable application fees, we signed our lease only to discover that we'd also be paying for pest control, sewer, trash, and water--none of which were clearly disclosed upfront. These "additional charges" have averaged $250 a month on top of rent. Last month alone, we were charged $190 just for water--and there are only two people living in our unit. We are extremely conscientious about usage, and we don't even drink the water or use it for ice or coffee because we've seen brown sediment in it multiple times. I've reached out to both the property manager and leasing agent asking how the water and sewer are measured--crickets. No response, which is unfortunately all too common. It takes over a week for them to respond and address any of my concerns, if at all. Meanwhile, the grounds are infested with spiders, slugs, ants, and we had multiple COCKROACH encounters when we first moved in!!! So what are we paying for in "pest control"? That's a mystery. Perhaps the excessive amount of visible rat traps. We're even charged a $6 monthly fee just to compile the bill for these "services." Maintenance has been a disaster. When we first moved in, the thermostat was set to Celsius. Maintenance told us it couldn't be changed--Google proved otherwise. During a so-called "annual inspection," a maintenance tech left a solo cup full of master keys on our doorstep while he worked inside. Anyone walking by could've grabbed access to every unit in the complex. Completely unacceptable. A few months ago, a water main broke during a rainstorm. I called emergency maintenance--they showed up, shrugged, and said they'd "call a plumber tomorrow." Rain was pouring and flooding was imminent. I ended up calling 911 and the fire department had to come out to shut off the water and prevent further damage. Even they were shocked it hadn't already been handled. There's more. A neighbor's door lock malfunctioned. Maintenance replaced it with a used door, in the middle of winter, and didn't even bother to install weather stripping--leaving a 1-inch gap under the door for cold air and pests to flow freely. That was over a month ago, and it's still not fixed. When we moved in, the leasing office was open Monday through Saturday. Now it's only open four days a week. Security patrols that used to come by twice nightly (after a string of car break-ins) were silently discontinued about four months ago--with no notice to residents. The walls are paper thin--we hear everything our neighbors do, and when they use the stairs, it feels like they're stomping through our living room. The windows are ancient single-pane originals from what I can only guess is the 1960s. They sweat constantly, and we've discovered black mold on our clothes, pillows, and window frames. Cold drafts leak in all winter long, and the moisture issues are beyond unacceptable. We inquired with the leasing office in January if there were an option to replace the windows. The informed us that it wouldn't be possible until at least April...and here we are at the end of April with no resolution. Our lease runs until September, and we are counting down the days until we can move. I wouldn't recommend this complex to anyone. It's overpriced, poorly managed, and increasingly unsafe and unsanitary. Do yourself a favor--look elsewhere. read more

At the end of January, I started to discover a sand-like substance on my bed. On February 3, I discovered this was a sign of termites and notified the complex immediately. Someone had to come to confirm that it was termites, and this did not happen until February 12. On February 14, they had someone come in to address the termite issue. The solution was to inject foam into the areas of the roof where the termites were discovered. That evening, around midnight, water started falling from my ceiling into my bed. I called emergency maintenance, and they told me there was nothing they could do and would address it the next day. Allegedly, no contractors were interested in attempting to fix this, as they would be assuming more liability than they are comfortable with. Finally, maintenance came to attempt to fix the problem. That night, it rained on me again. Although the leak was significantly improved, it was not fixed. On February 20, I had been offered no resolution, no compensation, and zero assurance that this situation is being handled. While I would like to believe this was a one off, it seems difficult to believe as when my sink was flooding in November, they had a plumber come and for the next week I kept being greeted by human feces in the car port where I park my car. Additionally, my single pane windows let in a ton of cold air and it is extremely difficult to keep my apartment warm. I had a PGE bill over $300. They have offered to replace my windows. Now in May, since I moved out- the windows have still not been replaced. While I enjoy staying at Monterey Townhouse, I cannot in good conscious recommend this complex to anyone, as any problem is sure to be neglected, and you may find yourself cold and wet inside your own home, or perhaps surrounded by feces. Office staff and Renee are good people and did their best. Have nothing negative to say about them. Cheers. Every once in a while, I think to myself, "remember when you lived in that horrible apartment?" And then I go and look at my yelp review and see that management has asked me to call them to resolve things, and I do. And nothing ever happens. I've called them and left messages probably 6-8 times in the last 6 years and nobody's ever gotten back to me. If they wanted to "resolve" anything, they'd contact me. Be warned we had to send a letter from the court to get our deposit. The property manager never responded to a single email and ignored my voicemails and calls. They act so inconvenienced when you ask why they are illegally holding your deposit. This is the second time we've rented with GREYSTAR (had I known how horrible they were with returning deposit I wouldn't have rented a second time with them) and the second time we had to threaten to sue for them to even acknowledge our deposit. Avoid any place owned by GREYSTAR or be prepared to take them to court every time you move out. We lived there for two years. The laundry machines are always broken and every time they fix it they increase the price per load. They turn off the water every week for "maintenance issues." As a resident here for two years I experienced many problems which cost me time, money, and even possibly more health issues, as I was not feeling well before. I tried to communicate with the new manager and he was confrontational and not at all helpful. The previous manager Amy was so much better it is actually scary. The only time I was spoken to with respect by the new manager was when I Cc'ed the regional manager as well in my email. The bathroom I have has peeling paint and old grout, and I was just offered it to be fixed as I am moving out. The pool is freezing and often not usable. The laundry rooms are often too full to use. Literally, the only reason to stay here is if you are forced to because of the rental market is if you have a dog. The patios are nice. In any case, I am not impressed and I am very saddened by this entire situation. Grey Star is a horrible land lord and shouldn't be allowed to operate like this. read more

Updating my review because recent events (credit report review) have reminded me of how terrible of an experience I had living here. Military stay away from this place. They will keep your security deposit and charge you a ridiculous amount in repairs when things were supposed to be considered wear and tear. If you refuse to pay for the outrageous charges, they'll report you to collections. My credit score has since fully recovered but no thanks to this place. Military life is hard enough without unethical, greedy people making it harder by hurting your credit and barring you from simple things like getting car loans, a mortgage or credit card. I hope the Monterey Townhouse conglomerate enjoyed my security deposit and attacking my credit over $800 in wall paint. There is no honor or integrity here. I've told dozens of friends who have gotten stationed in Monterey to stay away and I'll continue to do so. Leave it for the civilians. Military are easy prey. I was stationed here a second time and found wonderful housing in Pacific Grove. If you're fortunate enough to get stationed in Monterey, don't waste your time or money in Seaside. Update: Glad to see Kyle respond to me here instead of messaging me directly. 1) I did reach out and your management was toxic and unresponsive. 2) when I left, it was to move on to a new duty station and was working in a high stress environment so forgive me for not having the free time to force your team to do the right thing. If your team had any integrity I wouldn't have to work twice to fix the problems your team created for me. So no, I won't trust you to make it right now and I'll continue to tell my friends who are attending CSUMB, NPS, MIIS, and DLI to find housing elsewhere. My roommates and I moved in at the end of October and I wanted to wait a couple months before writing a review. I cannot say enough positive things about this place! They are dog friendly and have numerous areas around the property that are perfect for your pet! My dog has certainly made himself at home. Their location is ridiculously close to the gym, gas station, shopping center and Safeway. Parking is limited, that is the only negative. However, I mainly walk to my necessities now so it isn't much of a hassle. The property itself is well maintained and they are almost completed with a new paint job for all the buildings. The new color looks great. I can tell they wanted to modernize it since they did such an amazing job updating the inside of the units as well. Walls are a tad thin but that's expected in apartment/townhome living. Plus our neighbors are super friendly so we don't mind too much. This place is all about community. Every first Friday of the month they have coffee and donuts in the clubhouse for residents, and around the holidays they set up a station in there. (Christmas they had a gift wrapping station and Halloween they had a costume contest with prizes). The office also sent me and my roommates birthday cards and upon moving in they had a goodie bag full of essentials like toilet paper and paper towels delivered to our door. Kyle the property manager listens to his residents and I'm convinced he knows everyones name! He is committed to making it a lovely place to live considering he lives on property. There's a 24 hour maintenance line in case of emergencies. We have only had to call it once and they came out in under 30 minutes. I can't say enough about this place! I moved in to the Monterey Townhouses during the summer and it's been nothing but a pleasant experience. My condo is so cozy and clean I love living here. The pool and the gym are such great aspects to our housing that I love to utilize. Did I mention that the leasing office hosts parties sometimes too? It's a great way to get to know our neighbors and have some fun. Everyone in the leasing office is extremely helpful and anytime you need maintenance on your unit they act fast and efficiently!! I've lived here for 2 years and just signed my 3rd lease. Why? Because... 1. This is a very dog friendly community, equipped with a dog washing station, poop bags and waste cans. It also accepts dogs of all shapes and sizes - as a German Shepherd owner, it is incredibly difficult finding complexes that allow my dog's weight AND breed. 2. Better amenities than most. Huge, clean, beautiful pool. The pool area has modern lounge chairs, tables, canopies and two HUGE grills, perfect for a family gathering/party. There is also an indoor lounge/TV room available to rent that has it's own entrance to the pool area. There's a gym equipped with brand new ellipticals, treadmills, and weights. There's at least 3 laundry rooms on-site as well. Its also worth noting that the complex itself is beautiful with fresh paint and blooming plants around every corner you turn. 3. The apartment! The apartments are equipped with large, modern gas stove tops/ovens and fridges. The modern, bright light fixtures, cabinet/drawer/door handles, hardwood floors, forgiving bedroom carpet, tasteful choice of paint, and sparkling white counter tops (there are literally sparkles in the granite) are all finishing touches that make you feel like you're doing better than alright in life. I personally have one of the two-story townhouses which won me over with it's MASSIVE master bedroom, divine walk-in closet, and courtyard that's large enough to relieve some of my guilt on the days I don't walk my dogs. 4. Finally and most importantly, the STAFF!!! Kyle and Veronica manage in the office and Pete and Jaime are in charge of maintenance. I really can't express what a role these individuals have played in my decision to renew. Kyle and Veronica are very approachable and if they make eye contact with you on the premises, they'll likely try to check in with you and make sure your home, the amenities, and the overall community are all meeting your needs. They also email community newsletters which inform you of any maintenance/updates in the complex, as well as community events and mixers. Often, the office staff will open up the lounge/TV area where they invite reps with from the local gym and xfinity to hook you up with special deals while they provide meals and drinks. Other times these events serve as an invite to get to know your neighbors and ask staff any questions, but hey who isn't down for free breakfast and coffee or pizza for the kids after a long day? Regardless of what the particular purpose of the gathering is, one theme that remains throughout them all is: community. One aspect of their management that I respect and appreciate the most is their willingness to work with me. With large dogs comes loud barking which can sometimes lead to complaints. When I received notice of a complaint, I immediately went to the office and spoke with Veronica. I cannot express what a tremendous relief it was to not be treated like some kind of criminal or trouble maker. I was met with patience, empathy, and respect and Veronica even took time out of her day to help me figure out ways I could better maintain the noise. This is only one of several occasions in which I've experienced both professionalism AND humanity from Veronica and Kyle - two traits which I have found hard to find in management at other local complexes (don't ever rent from Surfside Apartments). Of course, I can't forget our maintenance staff. Both Jaime and Pete are incredibly respectful and professional gentlemen. They are VERY patient and thorough when listening and responding to questions and concerns. Any time I have submitted a maintenance request, they respond promptly, typically within the same hour. I've also never had an issue that they couldn't resolve within the same day either. They do their jobs with integrity and I trust them in my home with my belongings, my dogs, and my child. On more than one occasion they have even gone beyond their job title. One time I forgot my laundry in the laundry room over night and another tenant had moved my laundry out of the dryer and onto a table in the room. Pete spotted the towels, and out of fear of my laundry being further tampered with, he put them in a bag and kept them safely in the maintenance office. When I emailed Kyle about the missing laundry, he told me about Pete's kind act, and Jaime kindly delivered my laundry to me personally within 20 mins, explaining again what Pete had done for me. It's these acts of kindness and "going the extra mile" that make you feel like you are a valued member of the community. Now to be fair I must acknowledge the few, minor concerns I do have with the community: 1. Parking. You get one parking spot per apartment and there's maybe 10-15 guest spots that are filled up by 6:00 pm. 2. The dumpsters are on one side of the property, so invest in trash cans with wheels 3. The TV room/lounge can only be rented on weekdays 4. Non-emergency maintenance hrs are roughly 7:30-4:30 M-F only read more

I've been living in this complex for a few months so it felt like the right time to be able to write a review. The grounds are kept very well, and neighbors are courteous. As for staff: In the office- Kyle is amazing, he still remembers my name when I run into him and is so receptive to comments. Makes me feel like a VIP resident- which I'm sure he does to everyone! Maintenance- Pete ROCKS. He is always running around the property attending to each residents' needs. He is always on the GO- except when he runs into me and my dog, he has to stop and say hello. Which I really appreciate so she knows him if he has to come in while I'm away, she'll already know him. And even when I have him in something- if i mention a small issue, he'll stick around to fix it to- even without a work order. He is so exceptionally nice and helpful! Reasons for 4 stars instead of 5: the walls are super thin and that isn't something that's going to get fixed any time soon. Also- when we moved in- we hadn't seen our exact floor plan because it wasn't available at the time and we were moving from farther away- so we didn't realize what we would have and not have. For instance, the 1 bedroom we saw had a 5-burner stove with a center burner for grill pans, that doesn't come in the 2-bedroom we moved into. Also the kitchen set up in general was very different from what we had seen and hadn't seen good photos prior to moving in. And I was surprised there is no medicine or cabinet at all in any bathroom. read more

Lived here almost a year ... Management is overworked and not available regularly. Maintenance requests are slow to get resolved, and I've often had to go behind maintenance and complete the job. The apartments are old. No dishwasher. Kitchens are small. The walls are VERY, VERY, VERY thin ... At night, you can hear the neighbors snoring - I AM *NOT* EXAGGERATING. So everything else is magnified. For MONTHS, we had college kids next door with loud music - including early morning hours ... And it never got resolved. There is not enough parking for tenants... Don't bother with visitors. There's a "gym" with a treadmill and one nautilus machine. The pool just got a new deck ... And there's a community grill. The neighborhood is VERY noisy - you can hear the planes that sit in the runway at the airport. Cop sirens daily, and across the street, there's a clanging gate that is constant, due to in and out traffic. (so if you live in the front of the complex - you hear it all the time). The only thing I can recommend about this place is that it's walking distance to a lot of things - diner, subway, grocery store, pizza place, pharmacy, burger King, etc. *** Update *** I would like to add that we really like the manager, Gabe. He does the best job he can under the circumstances. He does a good job, and is very personable and willing to help where he can. Gabe is a 5 star kind of guy. read more

They're working their butts off to keep these buildings going despite the management not forking our cash for the upgrades needed in these old buildings. I have been living at Monterey Townhouse apartments for about 4 months now and my experience has been very good so far. Management is quick to respond to any issues the residents may have including maintenance. They go above and beyond to make sure residents are happy by hosting free donut days on the first Friday of every month and other events with excellent raffle prizes and giveaways. Checking in was painless and quick. I love my studio apartment so far. It's small and quite expensive for the size but that is to be expected when choosing to live in Monterey. My favorite part about my apartment is the fact that I have not been bothered by any bugs, which is a big plus in my book. The fitness room is very small (just two treadmills and a robust cable machine) but I love how convenient it is when it's late and I want to go for a long walk on the treadmill. There are TVs in there to keep you entertained as well. The laundry room is small but there are a few of them. It can get busy on the weekends. My biggest complaint so far has to do with how thin the walls are especially when you have loud neighbors (and a barking dog) next door. However, this could be a consequence no matter where you choose to live. Overall, I do recommend choosing Monterey Townhouse Apartments as it has all the essentials (and more) and it is very conveniently located. read more

The Monterey Townhouse Apartments are in a great location, close to bus lines and shopping centers. It's an older apartment complex but the management has been updating units as tenants move out. In general, it's clean and quiet. The pool is always clean. What I like best is the current management. Kyle is very courteous and professional, which wasn't always the case previously. My roommate and I have lived at Monterey Townhouse for about 8 months and we both enjoy the area. The grounds are well kept, laundry rooms always clean. The maintenance workers have always been nice and treat us with respect. Veronica in the office was very helpful when we first moved in. Overall a nice place to live at. However, this "Una Weiland" who is the manager here, is probably the only negative thing here at Monterey Townhouse. She will look through your balcony and has invaded our privacy. Neighbors and I have all caught her doing this multiple times. Not only that, but her attitude towards the tenants is disgusting. She's been very rude and unprofessional when I've spoken to her, and others have said the same thing. Overall, this is a nice location to live at, but due to Una's behavior my roommate and I will be leaving after our lease is up. It is unacceptable to have a manager like her making tenants feel unwelcome. read more

So after staying at these residence for just under a year, I have to thank the entire staff for their amazing support and for the accommodations for their residents. This place is one of the few pet friendly apartments you in the area and in my opinion probably the best. They are truly pet friendly with no weight or breed restrictions which was truly a blessing and I hope that never changes. If there are any complaints about your pet the management team will easily just contact you in a friendly professional manner to address the issue before slapping on fees to your rent which really says a lot. I honestly fell in love with the layout from the moment I took the tour. It have a very rustic townhome feel with adequate amenities. The maintenance team works really hard at keeping the complex looking beautiful and lush and the team is always working to make it better. Management is really great with contacting residents about community events, issues, and updates on maintenance to keep you well informed and make it feel like a community effort. Lastly the location is very ideal with a park, community center, shopping center, and gym all within walking distance. If I had to write about what could be better or would've been nice to have, I'd probably say a dishwasher but not too many apartments in CA have those, and a package receiving service. Packages are usually just left on the front door and while I haven't personally dealt with stolen packages, the weather could be a concern for any boxes left at your door. Overall I really did enjoy my stay here and I would recommend it to anyone looking for chill, modern place to call home. read more

I was moving across the country and I wasn't able to visit until I moved in but Amy sent pictures and was available to answer any questions or concerns. In regards to Elizabeth, I think if you look up tenant laws, you will see that management cannot force a tenant out of their apartment if they continue to pay the prorated rent if they are moving out. I'm sure they could have evicted them, but the process is so long, the tenants surely would have moved out before they could even be served. Also, do you know the circumstances in which they changed your move in for the current tenants? There could have been a problem with the current tenants new place, or maybe something happened? Did they actually sign the lease agreement or contract with you? That could pose a different issue, however if they don't sign it, they're not obligated to go along with it ... and things happen that are unforeseen. It's unfortunate but it happens. This complex is beautiful and living here is very nice! They have just begun a well anticipated renovation of their clubhouse, office and fitness center and one of their laundry rooms and I'm so excited to see the new laundry room with more machines as well! They recently put in new machines in all the laundry rooms and they run so smoothly! The maintenance staff is very quick and thorough and really nice. The management is very nice too and so willing to work with any issue you may have. These are by far, the best managers that I have come in contact with for these apartments and I have been through quite a bit of them. They're always smiling and cheerful. They're always decorating for the seasons and it makes it so welcoming to come into the office and just chat with them. I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND this apartment complex to EVERYONE!!!! It's beautiful, quiet, and a perfect location with no issues! Plus, they have a pool with new lounge chairs, etc. which make the pool area look so pretty and welcoming! If I could give zero stars I would. Upon move in , the shower water was either scowling hot or freezing, and it would change randomly throughout your shower which is unsafe especially if you have babies or young children. The weather strip on our front door was trashed and you could basically see into our house from under the door. The noise level through the walls is awful, you can hear your neighbors simply talking at 10:30 pm, (had to use a sound machine to block out noise). Management "fixes" issues but then the issue reappears in a week, so it never really gets fixed. Word of advice, don't ever park your car somewhere even for a few seconds if it isn't your spot. Management will come put a huge fat sticker on your window that does not come off and you have to peel it which takes a while to get it all off. They don't care about your personal property whatsoever. Will never recommend this place to anyone and will definitely NOT re sign our lease here. read more

Monterey townhouse apartments are so awesome! Amy, the manager is so helpful and sweet. The whole staff is very helpful and welcoming as well. Their website is really great, easy to manage, and smooth. My fiancé is currently stationed in Monterey and I needed to move to the area right away. Amy personally helped me with everything, and made my move and everything else so easy. I would definitely recommend moving to these apartments, staff feels so welcoming, just like family, great location as well. Apartments are very nice! Amy was extremely helpful when we came to view the apartments. She sat down with us and explained everything in detail. She even went above and beyond to call around to other complexes to see what else was available and the pricing for them. Also, the application process was smooth and simple. My wife and I moved in a week ago to a 1 bedroom on the first floor. The first-floor patio is large enough for a table and chairs outside and you still have plenty of room. The bedroom closet is spacious; however, there is little storage space in the rest of the apartment. The walls are thin and you can hear the neighbours with any movement they make. This apartment was recently renovated with hard floors, new stainless steel appliances to include 5 burner gas stove, a roomy refrigerator and a beautiful sink. The carports are small and it makes it hard to get in and out of the vehicle once parked. The windows are single paned, flimsy feeling, hard to open/close and rattle anytime you open a door. The laundry rooms are outside of the units and there is only one 24 hour room with 2 washers and 2 dryers. The machines take debit/credit cards instead of quarters. Each load is $3 total to wash and dry. The first night we moved in, to our surprise we noticed fleas in the apartment and since we don't own any pets nor ever had any fleas, they must have been here from the previous tenant or come from another unit. In hindsight, we should have checked the carpet more thoroughly for bugs before moving in. Overall, the apartment itself is nice but not worth the price. I had an appointment to view the town home today as I recently relocated from Los Angeles. Amy was professional, courteous and on schedule. The neighborhood is busy and each tenant gets a covered carport parking space which is all that the property has to offer. I had no problem finding street parking but then again, I came at 230pm. The 2 bedroom town home I saw was better than I expected and way better than all of the other places I have looked at in the area. The unit was updated with new floors, updated kitchen, gas stove, stainless steel fridge (no dishwasher), and laundry outside of the unit. The first floor patio is HUGE but the inside lacks storage and actual living space. The rooms are generally pretty small although the bedrooms were decent size. I knew in the first 15 minutes that it wasn't the best fit for me an my dog BUT Amy went above and beyond and spent an extra hour with me recommending potential places that would be a good fit based on what I was looking for, wrote down contact names, numbers, locations and even printed out a list from aspca.com on pet friendly buildings in the Monterey area! She was the nicest person that I have dealt with so far and I couldn't believe that she was so willing to help educate me on other properties and what to expect while looking. I would recommend these apartments to anyone looking as again, they were the best that I have seen! I am just looking for a bit more space and storage than the place had to offer. I have lived here for 11 months and honestly have loved it. Amy was so helpful through the whole process and remembers who I am when she sees me around. As a single, young woman, moving into my first apartment alone was really scary. Having a landlord living on site who is as personable as Amy really made my experience that much better. I never felt unsafe, but knew if I did things would be addressed. I give it four stars instead of 5 for a few reasons. Good: 1. Walking distance to grocery store and restaurants! 2. Relatively quiet. 3. Spacious, well lit apartments. 4. Quality furnishings. Bad: 1. The walls are fairly thin and insulation is poor. This isn't too much of a problem most of the time, the apartment stays cool, which is great. It is a problem though when your neighbor decides to move in at midnight when you're sick with the flu, or when their dog cries the whole time they're gone. 2. It can be hard to do laundry on weekends. There are 6 washers and 6 dryers for all of the units, so you need to time strategically. I have also had people take my laundry out, even if I'm on time to get the cycle when it's over. Most of these issues are just due to several people living in the complex, not management so I do not want this review to reflect poorly on them. I am sad to be moving, but I took a job in San Jose so I have to relocate. Side note: after looking at apartments in San Jose, the quality you are getting in these apartments is a STEAL! We have very much enjoyed our stay at Monterey Townhouse Apartments. The location is great, the place is clean and well cared for, and the tenants, management, and maintenance people are all very pleasant. Especially the maintenance people are very skilled, very friendly, and very efficient. However, since the new ownership last month, our rent increased $130, and we will also have to begin paying for water/sewer and garbage, which will also increase our monthly expenses beyond what we are able to pay. There are currently 5 homes in the area that are about the same size as our apartment available at lower rent than what we will have to pay starting February (including utilities). If it wasn't for security deposits, we would move out and into a rental house immediately. Not really sure what we can do at this point other than suffer the increases until we can find something better. They promise various improvements, which I do not doubt they will do, but when I moved in here, I chose the apartment because of the reasonable rent. I don't need to have the grounds look perfect and there be new machines in the exercise room and etc... I need reasonable rent. If you want a nice apartment and are willing to pay for it, wait a month or two for them to finish their improvements, and this is the place for you. I hope to be gone by then. read more

I would not recommend living here. Management does not follow contracts as they changed my move-in date to accommodate the current tenants. This created a terrible mess and as a result, flights needed to be changed and I ended up needing to find a new place to live. They still owe me my application fee they claimed they would return. Definitely think twice when leasing from this property...they are not truthful nor out for the best interest of new residents. read more

We chose this community because it is one of the prefered community for College Living Experience students and based on our experience so far they have taken very good care of him. This is a big plus for us considering that my son has special needs and we needed to find a place that was very attentive. I was hesitant at first after reading the only yelp review but after personally getting a chance to meet the staff and property manager I am very pleased by thier level of professionalism and attentiveness and glad to see and hear that they are still taking very good care of him. Any issues in thier apartment and the manager has someone at his door in less than 20 mins. read more

I'm sure many would agree that finding a place in Monterey isn't easy. Specially if you're coming along with a pet. I called so many homes and apartment listings and they would all turn me down because of my pet or want to only meet during a day in the future where I'd no longer be in town. My stay in the Monterey area was very limited, so I had to make plans fast and wisely. Finding Monterey Townhouse Apartments was a blessing. Starting with their on site manager, Amy. Amy was able to accommodate us into a beautiful and renovated apartment home. She was very thorough during the walk through. She was very courteous, welcoming, helpful and overall very professional. Amy would always make herself available to us and assist during the moving process. The site is very clean and well maintained. I am still in the process of moving, so I cannot write on my experience of actually living there... on the other hand, everything looks great and the apartments are spacious. I am giving them four stars rather than five because the rooms don't have any lights... they only have a switch that controls the power outlet. Also, because the remodeling performed was done over an "old skeleton" ... the appliances however, are all new and work great... so far. Wish me luck! :) read more

I love it here! We chose these apartments because it is truly well maintained, beautiful and surrounded with lots of colorful flowers and fragrance. Place is pretty clean if you ask me. We have a new gym, new laundry rooms, new club house, swimming pool and these fricken awesome stainless steel bbq grills that we just cant get enough of. Summer has been great here so far. More than I can say for a few of my friends renting elsewhere in old run down buildings. It's a 10 min drive to MPC and we pretty much have just about everything around us. Manager is cool people as long as you follow the rules and not be an A**hole about things. Things get taken care of right away and have never had any issues here. Sweet place to live if you ask me. read more

We relocated to Monterey from San Diego in late Sept 2013 and had a very difficult time finding an apartment home that was close to what we were used to. Many apartments we visited in Monterey and Pacific Grove were very run down, had old carpet's and had this old mildew stench to them. We were considering both Monterey Pines and Monterey Townhouses because of the quality of the upgrades. After running into a resident at MP who used to live at Monterey Townhouses, she encouraged us to stick with Monterey Townhouses because of the level of service and attentiveness they offer. Glad we made the right choice! The staff is amazing here and to date have no complaints. I definitely enjoy the clean amenities we have here and the privacy our one bedroom offers is just what we were looking for. :} read more
