Like most of the other reviews share...it's not fancy, but we prefer quality food, friendly fast service, cleanliness, portion size and value and this place delivers!! I got the el combo for $20, it was outstanding and I couldn't finish it. Chips & sales are also excellent. Authentic Mexican food, give it a try! The only negatives to share are the bench seats are a bit worn and there were a lot of flys, which probably means the back door of the kitchen is open during the day. read more

Everything you'd expect for a "hole in the wall" mexican place off the thruway. And I mean this in the best possible way. The food was priced right. The portions are GIGANTIC, and the alcohol in strong. But the booths are worn and there are no pretensions. You' get simple mexican that fits the bill when you've just run a 5k or need a place to stop along the highway. Chips and salsa were decent. Beware of the house margarita - it's going to be straight up mix and tequila and you're going to feel it!!! Service was efficient - no one hovering over you making sure everything is ok. Stopped in on a Sunday just before noon as we were headed to Del lago because reviews were all good. The reviews are accurate! E wee greeted right away with friendly positive smiling faces and seated immediately. Hot Chips and tasty salsa came right away before we ordered. We ordered the chimichanga platter both chicken and the corn tortilla trio with red, green, and white sauce one on each, rice, and fresh made refried beans, rice, and guacamole salad. We had no expectations when walking in, we were hungry and didn't want fast food. We were greeted by a very friendly lady who sat us and gave us menus and water. Our server came over with chips and salsa. The chips were pretty standard but the salsa was very good, not too spicy but but thick and flavorful. The menu is large, it took us a while to decide but our server was very patient. I ordered the combination of enchilada, burrito and chalupa. My friend had a large chicken and mushroom burrito with rice and beans and cheese sauce.our meals came out very quickly. Our food was hot and we both really enjoyed our meals. The refried beans were the best I've ever had and I ordered aan extra side to go. The enchilada sauce was very good and the cheese sauce was excellent. if you're thinking about going to Monterrey Mexican Grill, don't even finish this review and just go. i promise you won't be disappointed. the waiter was very attentive & informative! he joked around with our party throughout the service, the service was actually super fast. i took a whole 8 minutes to order the food, i would say the food came out in less than that time. needless to say; BEST MEXICAN FOOD EVER. i've been to el paso, texas (boarder of mexico) and this food had more flavor. the vibe was very traditional, beautiful colors on all the walls, even the tables embodied the mexican experience. read more

First place I found around the area that serves a good, real Mexican breakfast. I ordered the huevos rancheros, which is 3 eggs with a fresh sauce, mexican rice, pinto beans, and tortillas. They have a lot of other breakfast options, including American style breakfast. I'll come back when I'm in the area again to try the lunch/dinner menu, which is very extensive. We were headed to Del Lago to see a band and wanted to see more options for dinner besides the restaurants in the casino. Found MMG on yelp and noted all the 5 star reviews. Very plain exterior, very clean interior. We were greeted by the hostess as soon as we entered. After seating us, she took drink orders and left us to look at the menu. She came back with house made chips and salsa and explained some entrees to us. Our orders came in a reasonable amount of time. Sleeper surprise! We stopped en route of a very long drive and it completely hit the spot. The outside isn't much to write home about but the food is really fresh and flavorful (the server told us that they only use fresh ingredients and throw things out frequently). Hubby got tacos al la Diabla which were fresh and delicious and I got the pollo diablo which in full disclosure, did not look that appetizing, but which tasted great. Flan to follow had excellent texture and lashings of dulce du leche on it. We drive this route not infrequently and will purposefully stop the next time. read more
