We visited on Saturday 6/13 and had the Fajitas Texacanas and Carnitas and they both were great. Drinks and Beers were cold. Good service sitting at the bar. We'd recommend this as a stop going thru Pan Yan if you like Mexican food. read more

This review is for the take out. I ordered from here the pancho loco burrito and the tacos supreme. Sadly I have to say Taco Bell tastes better. The tacos came in a hard shell and barely had any toppings. It was literally some dried shredded chicken with some diced tomatoes and lettuce. The burrito also lacked flavor and I had to dunk it in the salsa they provided for the chips. Not to mention afterwards, worst stomachache of my life. I also asked for hot sauce and utensils and none were provided. read more

My wife, two teenage sons, and I enjoyed our dinner here on a Sunday at 4:30pm in early July 2025. Lots of pluses. We were seated promptly as the dinner rush had not yet arrived (it gets crowded by 5:30pm). First, this is a great option if you like Mexican food. Second, it has a cheerful interior space that is inviting and family-friendly. Third, my wife enjoyed the organic margarita (16 oz. version) with lime, which was refreshing on a hot summer day. My sons each devoured their tacos carnitas plates. My wife and I shared the fajita parillada for two (including chicken, steak, shrimp, and chorizo). The latter dish was a ridiculously large amount of food (we requested carry-out boxes to bring leftovers home to enjoy the next day). First time customer. Got the carnita steak tacos that came with refried beans, tasty chips with salsa & rice. Was impressed with the food & the amount you get. While the cost was a bit more than I was hoping, everything is more pricey these days. I definitely will be back when I'm in town. My only suggestion would be a bit more flavorful sauce for the tacos. The sauces were good and spicy, though I'd personally prefer one with a bit more flavor (maybe a siracha or chipotle type of sauce?). read more

Another Saturday night in Early January at Keuka Lake. Not really wanting to cook, we decided to go out and try this relatively New Mexican restaurant in Penn Yan. I have eaten several times in their Bath location but only for lunch. Always good and I had heard good things about this new location. So off we went to give it a try. Glad we did. Very good service. This is a converted Pizza Hut building, and they have done a good job of not making it look like a Pizza Hut. My wife and I both ordered the enchiladas. She had the chicken and I had the beef. Both were very tasty and it filled us up. While we were there more and more people were coming in to eat. Always a good sign. Cafe Mezcal lived up to its excellent reviews! We went last night, a Sunday, and the place was hopping. Grabbed two seats at the bar, admiring the artfully plated food we passed along the way. Complementary chips and salsa came quickly, along with ice water. We started with the ceviche appetizer. Fresh, balanced, and a good amount for two. We shared a margarita flight.... refreshing and delicious, a great complement to the heatwave outside. Entrees were the Cameron Yucatán, which was loaded with succulent shrimp and fresh sautéed vegetables, along with rice, warm tortillas, guac, and finely chopped tomatoes. What a wonderful Mexican restaurant! The food and service were perfect. We stopped while driving through Penn Yan. We ordered chicken street tacos and a veggie burrito. The burrito was made with fresh mushrooms, zucchini, bell peppers and rice with a light sauce made with green chiles. Amazing Mexican restaurant around Penn Yan! We went there on Saturday night for dinner and we manage to get a table right away. Service and atmosphere were great. They provided chips and salsa to start with before we ordered drinks. For drinks, we ordered the Santa Victoria and La Catrina mezcals. For food, we ended order fajitas, one steak and one fajita Texana (mixed of steak, chicken, and shrimp). For dessert, we ordered churros. Food and drinks were flavorful. The new and HUGE bar area serves up some great cocktails and a plethora of margaritas, of course. We came for lunch and the lunch specials are a great value. Lots of Vegan and vegetarian options and don't miss the Fiesta Salad. So fresh and delicious. The Chicken Sope was filling and had a good-tasting masa base. Another example of what you can do with an old Pizza Hut... that works! The bar in the center of the restaurant was very creative. We were seated quickly and service was attentive. The food was good run of the well-trodden AmMex that was tasty and filling. The Margarita pour was generous and served with the mixer. This is a busy place and easy to understand why. Delicious! My family and I went for dinner and three of us got the LARGE margarita which is like a fish bowl! it was priced well. A solid Mexican restaurant with great food, and service down to a science. My family of 5 has some picky eaters, and every order had some sort of modification (sadly, we are those people). Thankfully, our server got it all perfectly without writing anything down!
