Neither of which wowed us, but they didn't disappoint either....To put it short, we won't be back for any reason. No foul on the shop, it just lacked pizzaz or something that stood out. Decided to try the Montford Deli for the first time today. And our fish sandwiches were just wonderful. The flounder was perfectly breaded, the bun soft and fresh with the right amount of lettuce, tomato and mayo. The tartar is house made, a bit different, delicious (and included; no upcharge). A reasonable $10.50 to which one can add fries, onion rings, okra, mac/cjeese or coleslaw for $3-4. And so we split one order of onion rings which turned out to be a nice and spicy surprise. I immediately saw the NY'er prepared the traditional way - pastrami & corned beef on marbled rye with Swiss & brown mustard! It was delicious! It came with sauteed onions, cheese, lettuce, tomato & all the condiments. And I also ordered a side of onion rings. Everything is made fresh while you wait. The buzzer system works well, so you can step outside and not worry about missing your name being called. The buzzer goes off when your meal is ready! This sandwich was absolutely scrumptious! We stopped by Montford Deli twice in one week because of how good it is! Chicken Philly was flavorful and delicious. Well seasoned but not overly so, the bread is grilled so it gets a beautiful crunch. My son absolutely loved his kid burger and my husband was super happy with the brisket special sandwich. The onion rings were absolutely the best OF MY LIFE. Ambiance is a cute small town diner and the outdoor seating is a nice option. Staff is wonderful, very nice, very helpful. I ordered the Turkey Rachel (still trying to stick to my new year resolution) and it was very tasty. Crunchy rye bread , flavorful turkey, coleslaw and sauce all perfectly proportional so not soggy. Now as a NY Deli guy, the real test of authenticity comes from the Corn Beef and Pastrami but that will have to wait until I inevitably break my New Year resolution. we had a very sweet experience at montford deli, it was our first time coming in after saying we wanted to for a while. we don't go out frequently and are creatures of habit when we do, so i'm very excited for a new "favorite" to add in the mix now. we were immediately greeted by two pleasant faces as we walked in the door, we browsed the menu and quickly found what we wanted (including the toddler!) and picked a table near the counter. as seasoned service workers ourselves, we enjoyed hearing the employees friendly banter with customers, most of which seemed like regulars. we got our food pretty quickly, a chopped cheesie with fries, a hot rachael on rye with mac and cheese, and a kids burger and fries, and we devoured it almost just as fast. it was all perfection. an employee (or owner?) sporting the coolest hot sauce chef pants appeared from the back and greeted everyone on his way through, and even made sure to greet my 3 year old individually and compliment him on how well he was talking (big yappers run in the family). on his way back through, he grabbed a dinosaur figurine from their decorations on top of the drink cooler and handed it to him!!! it couldn't have been sweeter. he was already enthralled by the seasoned fries and "burger and cheese" but the styracosaurus really took the cake. the stained glass pterodactyl in the window was pretty cool too. we will definitely be back to try something new. read more

The sandwich was hot, apparently they cooked the onion rings first and left them sitting before starting the sandwich.
