Before leaving he went over the operation of the EBike and offered us Helmets and a lock for if we decided to stop at a restaurant on the trail. Offered up information on the best way to travel leaning Loveland. For our first time in the area he suggested the way with the best views. The bikes where we'll maintain like new. So yesterday we went into the Loveland location ( we live in Loveland just off the bike trail) my husband has his eye on a bike and wanted to see it in person and most likely purchase it . 3 men at the rear counter talking amongst themselves and on their phones and no hello or can I help you? Any place I enter and receive no greeting of any sort or head nod etc, even after being present for 5 mins or so, I'll not purchase anything. Avid cyclist that could find anything in a friendly environment just to support a shop. You won't find anything inviting here. Go to Walmart before you buy any here. Jay and Don (manager) were really gracious and helped us out of a jam when one of us got injured, and we needed to leave our bikes there in order to get to an ER. There are two bike rentals in Loveland, OH. Montgomery Cyclery has nice bike rental options. They even rent one adult tricycle if you are looking to try something different. The location is great, very convenient. The staff is knowledgeable but you'll have to go grab them as they won't offer help unless you ask. If you are a casual bike rider, I wouldn't buy a bicycle here but it is a nice place to rent a bike. If you are a more hard core rider then you may find what you want at this store. The other bike rental place in Loveland, OH is cheaper but their bikes are a rougher ride. It's a great place if you enjoy bikes. read more

Horrible experience - although seems to be the norm for this shop. I had a flat tire Saturday about a mile out and walked to the shop looking for some support. I asked them if they could sell me a tube and lend me tire irons to change my flat tire. They were grumpy, taciturn, and not helpful. First they wanted $9 bucks for a tube and then realized the only one they had costs $12. Then they don't want to let me borrow tire irons to change it myself but want to charge me another $5 to do it. Totally uncool vibe. Avoid at all costs. read more

UPDATE: I love that this bike shop is right near the bike trail; however, I am learning that they seem to up charge everything due to the monopoly they have on the market. Going to be honest-- sometimes the staff is super friendly and other times the main guy in charge can be a little abrasive. He comes off very arrogant and pushy--it is a sales job (so perhaps he gets commission?), but I can't get out the door without him begging me to upgrade my bike (after I've told him several times it is not going to happen). It does not make the shopping experience very pleasant. If I were you, I would check on Amazon or compare prices to other bicycle shops in the area before you purchase anything. I went in looking for bicycle tires, and I could not figure out any of the prices other than what this man quoted me. I had trouble trusting him since I could not actually see the price on the merchandise that he was quoting me. Note the charge of installing items-- I realize that they have to charge for installing certain items on your bike, but I think there should be some kind of bundle price available. For instance, each bike tire was $15, innertube's were both eight dollars each. That's already $46, not counting installation. They charge $12 a bike tire to install it (that is pretty much the cost of the tire)! Huge fan of shopping local--but do your homework first and be ready to walk in with a no-haggle attitude. As of late, the customer service has come off very pushy; however, I have had some good experiences there (see below for my original review). Love the location --if you're in a bind, how convenient to have this business that close to the trail! _______________________ If you're looking for a professional style bike shop, this is it. Montgomery Cyclery carries a well-known name, and it is for a good reason. They offer top-of-the-line bikes and service. You will get what you pay for--and anyone who has learned to enjoy cycling (or even recreational biking) knows that it makes a huge difference with your resources/supplies. If you want something that lasts, check out this bike shop. They do offer bicycle tuneup's--anywhere from a small fix to a complete makeover. You can rent bikes by the hour through the shop. They are located right on the bike trail, so it is a great way to try out a bike that you are interested in buying. Before spending the money, make sure you take it out on the bike trail for a few hours. If you follow them on social media, you will notice that they offer several classes throughout the year. They often have intro to mountain biking classes and even have a spinning class once a week in their studio business. Need air in your tires? They will fill those tires with a smile! In 2022 I bought a bike from them and its brand is Giant. In 2023 I brought the bike in for repairs because I needed a part of the seat mount replaced. They were unable to replace the part themselves. How can a bike shop sell bikes they're unable to fix? That's a load of crap. I cannot recommend this place no matter the circumstance. I've been to MOntgomery Cycle Stores and the people were great but this one was very aggravating and the young man in the store had a bad attitude He quoted prices for bikes that were $100-150 higher than the stickers on the bikes said, he charged $50 for a bike seat that we saw later at the Mason store for $29. The Benefit of Bricks and Mortar.....Recently, I had a problem with my son's Schwinn (not purchased at Montgomery Cyclery ). I found the front hub and axle was not assembled correctly, as one of the safety washers was on the outside of the fork and the other was on this inside of the fork, creating play along the axle and an unsafe condition for a little kid to ride. I did what a Dad would do, I took it apart to move the washers. Big mistake. I think it was put together originally with an axle that was to short because when the fork expanded, there was no way to have enough length to get the nuts back on. And, after wrestling with it I had stripped out the cheap, soft metal nuts. Now it was time to go to the Bike Shop for some new parts and I picked Montgomery Cyclery in Loveland. The guy at the counter said," We don't stock a lot of parts anymore because most people don't fix their bikes any more, they just get new stuff, but let me look around." (That's not his fault, that's the public's fault.) He came back with the front axle and hub from an old Schwinn bike they had stripped parts from. The bearings matched, the axle was the correct length, and the nuts were made of good metal. I asked him what I owed him for the parts and he said that he has no way of pricing them, so," why don't you just take them." I was floored. Giving away a few parts to fix a little kid's bike is a very cool thing for a local business to do. I could have ordered some stuff off of the internet, paid for shipping, waited to get them, found it was the wrong part, sent it back, blah...blah..blah, but I shopped locally and found a new gem in Montgomery Cyclery. While unloading our bikes at Avoca Park, I noticed the sidewall on my rear tire was cracking, over a length of about 3 inches. I had some concerns about it, but it was holding air (80 psi) well, and decided to go ahead with my ride. Our destination was Loveland (12 miles). On the way, there were no problems, so we continued on. When we got to Loveland, I stopped at Montgomery Cyclery to have them check the tire. Matt did so, right away. Asking a few questions, he learned that I bought the tire there about a year ago, I always ride on 80 psi, and the bike has never been stored outdoors. In addition, I bought the bike there about four years ago, and had it serviced there annually. I told him he could pull my file to verify that, but he chose not to. He looked at the tire and said that it would be hard to know if/when that could blow. "Could be 10 minutes or 5 miles", he said. Without a moment hesitation, he said he would immediately install a new tire, at no charge. He did just that. Within ten minutes, I had a new tire on the bike, and was on my way to Avoca Park for the remainder of my 24 mile ride. Matt was extremely courteous, helpful, efficient, and professional. TLDR: If you're looking for to tune-up/repair a bike not purchased from their establishment, go elsewhere. Waste of time, money, and extremely poor customer service. Brought in a bike with SURESTOP brakes (one lever actuates both brakes) to get them tuned correctly. I conveyed all the attempts that I had made to tune them, demonstrating what I did, and was quickly told "We can take care of this. No problem." After a week, I received a call from the same employee that I dropped the bike off with stating that he "did what he could with a such a bad brake design" and that I could pick up the "tuned up bike" the next day. When I arrived to pick up the bike, the same employee brought it out and continued muttering about a bad brake design. I tested the brakes and found they were no better than when I dropped it off. I stated that I didn't see any difference and wouldn't pay $55 for a failed tune-up. The manager (who I asked to see) proceeded to list off the additional tune-ups that they did provide (not at my request) and also conveyed that the brakes were non-traditional. He recommended that I instead look into purchasing a bike from there with a traditional braking system. I could tell reasoning wasn't going to work, paid for the unnecessary services, and left dissatisfied. Waste of time, money, and extremely poor customer service. read more

I needed a new tube on my daughters small, purple scooter and they refused to service it because it had a motor on there. I was not asking to have a repair of the motor done just the tire. As a cycle shop they can repair tires but would not repair this tire. All the associates were clueless and could not provide me any assistance on how to fix this tire or anywhere to go to have it fixed. Motorcycle shop stone service tires that small they are the only place they can do it but would not do it and had no sound reasoning as for why. We have only rented bikes here but will do so again. Easy, reasonably priced,and so conveniently located. Staff is nice. You get a choice of the kind of bike and the height but nothing after that. Bike stopped working, rear axel would not catch and literally spinning my wheels. Luckily we had stopped in Loveland for lunch and not far from Montgomery Cyclery and luckily they had just opened. They could have sold me a brand new rear wheel for $140 dollars but he gave me the option of a used part and took the time to remove an axel from and old wheel. I was out of there in an hour and only $26....reduce, reuse! A bad situation was made so much better thanks to Montgomery Cyclery in Loveland and their competent and professional staff. read more

Stopped at this location on July 26, 2019, as we have several times previous. Asked to borrow an Allen wrench. An employee told us to bring in the bike and they would take care of it. After we brought the bike in we were informed it would be $16. We started to leave and the employees said they could do it at no charge. Before we left an employee whom I presume was the manager was very disrespectful to me. Bad mood? Angry? Sexist? I messaged Montgomery Cyclery. I purchased my $500 dollar bike and $300 rack from this store in 2017 and recently had an issue with my front tire. I took my front tire into the store a few weeks ago hoping to get it replaced so that is does not shimmy when I ride it. They checked the tire and said it was normal. I said, I am 57 years old and have never had a tire that did this, so I agreed to bring my bike in and let them test ride it. So, I took my bike into the store today to only be told to come back another day. That will be three visits for what I think would be an easy fix. I wasn't even given an apology. I was the only person in the store. It was 4:00 in the afternoon and they close at 8:00. It had been raining so not a busy day. Not happy with the service not given. This was my only day off during the week for the next several weeks so very disappointing and inconvenient given I drive 10 miles one way to the store. read more

My wife and I bought two bikes here almost two years ago, and the purchase was a very pleasurable experience with the manager, John, who had given us more information about this purchase than we had ever fed from anyone else in any previous purchases of bikes. We have had them serviced here regularly, and each time the work performed was very efficiently and economically performed. Over the last three weeks I noticed a clicking sound in my bike, and I brought it in to this store for them to check. I told the manager that I would be willing to leave it there and they could check it at their convenience. He said,"it is convenient now", and he immediately began to inspect the bike. After about 20 minutes he had found the problem, fixed it, and wanted to send me on my way. This was not warranty work, and so I insisted on paying for his labor, but he said "no" . Each of my visits at this store have been five star: they listen to the problem, they inspect the bike, they find the problem, and they fix the problem. We cannot recommend them enough. read more
