Tim and Linda cast them (as well as some other favorite actors) in the lead roles over and over. Professional actors do not even play this many lead roles in this length of time, let alone local middle and high schoolers. To demonstrate how obvious the favoritism is, look at one grandson's (Elias Hickle) roles in the last 6 years: Baloo, LaFou, Horton, George Banks, Tevye, Genie, Beast, Harold Hill, Triton, and more, not to mention their other grandkids with similar credits. He is over 18 now and can't be in the shows, but he is their studio and stage manager yet has no theatre degree, certification, or outside training, which is how many of their young staff and TAs have been chosen. Next is the cost. For one semester of Showtime!, FPMT charges about $400 per person (plus all their fees) and they have around 75 students = $30,000 in tuition. Tickets are $10-$14 and if they sell at least 1,000 each run = $10,000+. I don't know where all of this money goes because it doesn't go toward props. Even in most community theatres, they will supply the full costume with character shoes and all of the props for the show. Finally, Tim needs to stop yelling at the kids and Linda should stop overemphasizing smiling (see 1:40 www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQXfq0lSd4A as an example of this pattern). If you have to push that hard to get the actors to smile, they are probably really unhappy. When you teach a cast correctly and treat them with respect, they will be more cooperative and act like they are enjoying themselves. Check out SOAR Arts, Cross Community Players, or Stages Theatre Company for some much higher quality theatre on the west side! Front Porch is highly problematic with its nepotism, overpriced tuition, and poor treatment of students.

The theater is unassuming, on a little strip mall, where there's plenty of parking ... and once inside...it's magic! The stage makes great use of space and very creative with the set and lighting. Seating is excellent... not a bad seat in the house. I didn't know photos weren't allowed, the one picture I took and posted of the set was when I walked in. Oops I turned off my phone after that was announced. I loved the play and the theater. I plan to come back again and again! Oh, we are still in COVID times, so everyone in the audience need to wear a mask.

The shows are always thought provoking and intimate. The main stage is always surrounded by seating with viewers close enough to reach out and touch the cast members. They are very creative with lighting and sets to make the most of what they have. The theater offers concessions and beverages to consume during the shows, however this has been suspended during the pandemic. From the street the theater is part of a strip mall on Osseo and isn't anything remarkable. Parking is plentiful and fairly well lit. The theater still requires proof of vac, and that patrons wear masks. Being in a high risk category, I appreciate the precautions! Yellow Tree is a great local theater worthy of your attention! Give it a try and have some fun! Photos aren't allowed, so none have been included.

The performers did a fantastic job blending humor and audience participation, making it an unforgettable night. Brian, the actors, along with the staff at the Sheraton in Bloomington worked so well together, you would have thought they were one! If your looking for a unique and lively event for a group I highly recommend!

We had had a terrible experience trying to deal with a different company originally and we ended up having to find another company and I am so so glad we found the Mystery Cafe. First off, Brian, who is the owner, was just fantastic all around, responsive, accommodating, kind, and organized. The night of the actual performance, I did not feel nervous at all, he and I had communicated multiple times and also already tested all of the electronics weeks prior to the event, it went off without a hitch. It was fun because it did require audience participation, but it was not too high pressure and they made the atmosphere just so light and exciting and it was FUNNY! There was so much humor and I found myself laughing a lot more than I had thought that I would. 10/10 would recommend. They came to our event, there were 3 actors and I must say, I think that the cost was very fair and reasonable. Great time!

You can reserve your seat online and buy the tickets. They do have self serve kiosks as well inside the door. The "wow" factor of the lobby is so fun!! My kids absolutely loved how this place is set up!! They also had a bunch of old movie posters lining the walls! A blast from the past! We didn't play any games, but they had what seemed to be a very well maintained arcade with a prize counter! These guys also do birthday parties! The concessions were just ok for me. The popcorn was cold. The popcorn itself really didn't have much flavor. There is an option to salt your own but the concession stand does the butter for you. I wouldn't get their popcorn again. I will say, the staff was very friendly though! The movie theater had reclining chairs in the first 2 rows... I wish they had it throughout the whole theater. Instead the chairs did rock a little bit but no foot rest. It really didn't bother us that much but recliner chairs are nice! For my heavier set friends, you would feel pretty uncomfortable, as these are slimmer seats. The recliners at the front did look wider though! Overall, we really did enjoy this theater and would be back! This would be a great place to bring the family!
