We went to Montilio's for our wedding cake and it was absolutely delicious! It was very easy to book a cake tasting appointment and at the appointment, we were able to taste multiple different cakes. Our five tier wedding cake had two different flavors, which was great, because I really liked one flavor and my husband really liked another - we didn't even know that was an option until they told us! The cake had the JFK Presidential Cake (vanilla cake with buttercream and raspberry) and Chocolate (chocolate cake with chocolate, buttercream and chocolate mousse) The cake was delivered promptly on our wedding day and all the guests kept gushing about how beautiful it was and how delicious it was! I'm writing this part of the review for the Brockton store. Awful parking and very small store. HOWEVER, the pastries and cakes, especially their buttercream frosting is FABULOUS! They have people who can customize a cake for you in Brockton which is helpful... The one inside previties in Hanover is OK but you cannot get a flower or anything added to a birthday cake. The employees are very uninterested with your needs. They seem to just want to grab quick and ring you up .. I just found out they now have a Montillios inside Jordon's furniture which was exciting! Good amount of pastries to choose from and the girl behind the counter was sweet pleasant and helpful. She deserved her tip ;). read more

Walking into the bakery you're slapped with the sweetest scent (but it's not overwhelming). This is a stand alone bakery with treats all around. Fresh made cannolis, cakes, cookies, and the season favorite: gingerbread cookies/houses. I've never had or craved a cannoli but seeing the ladies hard at work putting them together I suddenly wanted one. We picked up a strawberry cake and a cookie kit. The cake was great and so were the cookies. It's a bit pricey but totally worth it in my opinion. Can't wait to come back read more

Who would have thought that walking into D'Angelos at 195 E. Main St in Milford, MA be so amazing! And although the lobster sandwich wasn't that bad for being so far from the Atlantic, but I never knew that there was also a BAKERY!!! Montilio's Baking Company right in Milford! It's not a full size bakery, but you will still find the most delectable looking cakes, cookies and pastries. I did get a piece of coconut cake and it was out of this world with flavor, a moist and airy crumb, and frosting that was so light, creamy, with a hint of coconut that tasted so fresh. George has always made our families events amazing and fresh and tasty. It's been always a great memory that George and his Staff has continued his father Ernest legacy with hard work and dedication! Long-time customer; every year I get a rum cake with buttercreme frosting for my wife's birthday. This year I tried the Hanover location since it is closer for me since I live in Marshfield; normally go to Brockton. Big Mistake. Cake was awful, overcooked, dry, no rum flavor at all. Looks like a non-professional made it as the layers totally uneven. I would be hard-pressed to use this location again. Not sure what is going on but the quality is not good. The cakes and cupcakes are delicious! I've ordered a number of special occasion cakes and stop by often to by dozens of cupcakes. The customer service is lacking. A few examples - I ordered a coral colored cake to celebrate my aunt getting married. The cake came out orange, so it looked more like a pumpkin color. I called a few days later to address it and I was told they'd look into what happened. I never heard back, I called a few times to discuss but never got anywhere with this issue. I've placed orders timely and have called to make changes to the orders to simplify the design and the customer service individual was not flexible or able to communicate clearly what the issue was in changing the design. I've placed orders via email like I usually do, I call to confirm the order to find out they cannot accept the order because of holidays although I've emailed prior to the holiday cut off. I've continued to use them as a baker because their cakes are delicious, but as a loyal customer, the customer service experience makes it seem as if I'm not a valued customer. read more

I tried scheduling a cake tasting for my wedding, but I was given the run-around over and over to keep calling back and rescheduling for more and more times. I wanted a Saturday tasting at 4pm. I was told to call and reserve the spot - I did, and left a lengthy voicemail requesting it with all necessary particulars. They called me and then told me that the spot was taken. I said...FORGET THIS CRAP! So...now looking into more bakeries. BTW, the customer service peeps at the Braintree location are kinda rude. I ordered a custom construction themed cake and cupcakes for my son's 2nd birthday from Montilio's in Brockton. It was really hard finding a bakery that would do a custom cake during Covid but Montilio's did it for us without any issues. I called 2 weeks in advanced and the lady (sorry didn't catch her name) I spoke to was very helpful and patient. When I picked up the cake and cupcakes, it surpassed my expectations! It looked even better than the picture I gave them. It was absolutely perfect and tasty. This place is absolutely incredible!!! I had an image of an exact cake I wanted for my wedding and they did it. It was amazing! Better than I could have ever imagined! My cake was absolutely delicious! I choose two different flavors. Chocolate with a chocolate mouse frosting and switched layers with a vanilla and a raspberry filling! The entire cake was red and white and had hearts...I've attached photos! Both cake flavors were moist and delicious. 3 years later I still have people asking me where did I get that gorgeous cake. The entire staff here is also amazing. From my first initial meeting/tasting. Right down to my cake being delivered. They were incredible. I don't know why anyone would pick Kondeiter Meister cakes over Montilio's for a wedding...NO WAY! The taste alone is a 1000% time better. Even though our initial experience was a bit of a rough start, they completely made up for it. We were emailed to come in for a cake tasting "anytime"; when we arrived, we were told that never happened. After showing them the proof in the email and getting ready to leave, one of the women made time to sit down with us and ask our preferences. I already knew what I wanted so it made things 10x easier. Within 20 minutes, everything was ready. A week before the wedding, they checked in to assure everything was perfect and for me to pay off a few extras I had added in. They were super nice and helped every step of the way. The venue that I am holding my function at suggested ordering the cake from Montillios in Brockton where they deliver desserts there anyway. I have been calling for a month and a half, since early March to order 2 cakes and no one has called me back. I finally spoke to a woman last week that said she would be sure to get my message to the appropriate person, she also told me to send an email as email is the best way to reach them and that somebody would definitely get back to me that way. Well here we are again, another week later and no return phonecall or email. I called again today and was transferred to the manager, who was not apologetic at all when I told her my situation and that I have been calling for a month and a half. She said that they've since lost 2 employees and that is why no one has called me back, she also said that I'm leaving messages on a voicemail that is not valid and no one is checking??? Makes absolutely no sense at all. She also told me that she could not help me and that I would need to order elsewhere. She told me that I would need to order my cake through the venue which doesn't make sense because the venue told me to order through them. The venue would have no idea of the cake, design, flavors and filling that I need. These 2 cakes that I need are speciality cakes, why would the venue order when the venue sent me to them to order. I told her that if I had to order them I could and then I could let the venue know my order, because she told me that they would need to order it for me. I told her that I'd be nervous having them order especially where they don't know what I want and need for these 2 special cakes. She said I could not do that, I told her that I can place order and then she can give me the specific info so I can send that along to venue, if she's saying that's what I have to do. Why would I have venue order when they're telling me to order with them. I would order with her and then I could let venue know my order and she said that I could not do that. She was very nasty and should not be running a business like that. The owner needs to be aware of how she is treating people. She was yelling at me and actually hung up on me and she said there was absolutely nothing she could do for me. She's the manager, how unprofessional. So now here I am, less than 1 month away and need to scramble to order 2 cakes elsewhere when I've been trying to order with them for the last month and half. I'll be sure to tell everyone my experience and make sure that no one orders from this place. if i could give no stars, I would! Who in their right mind would hang up as the customer is speaking??? My wedding cake was amazing (inside& out)! Montilio's wedding cake was included in my wedding pkg from the Lenox hotel. We live in California and were unable to do a tasting so I was getting nervous! We did everything via email and phone. I sent them a picture of what I wanted the cake to look like and let me tell you, it exceeded my expectations! It was beautiful! I was sad to cut it..... Until we got to the amazing inside! They let us do the bottom later different than the top three... It was white cake with strawberry filling... And the rest was marble swirl with mocha truffle filling. Literally amazing! Regarding the cost I don't even know how much it would have cost bc the Lenox paid for it but I did have to pay some extra bc I wanted a lace and pearl look which apparently takes a really long time to make! I recently worked with Elissa at Montillio's through the venue I was hosting my sister's bridal brunch. Elissa and her team were prompt and responsive to my several emails and calls. I wanted a sweets table for my sister's shower and when I met with Elissa she guided me through all the options I could choose from. Ultimately, I settled with an 8in semi naked carrot cake, a dozen chocolate tuxedo cupcakes, a dozen Italian olive oil with almond mousse, a dozen funfetti cake pops, a dozen lemon orange marble cake pops and a dozen chocolate covered strawberries. I sent Elissa the designs I wanted for everything and her team of bakers and decorators did an exceptional job! My guests and I were really impressed with how delicious everything tasted and how beautiful everything looked! read more

The cakes MUST be nice, but the attitudes, not so much. I accompanied a friend to do her cake tasting here. She was shopping around. The lady became very dismissive when my friend was calculating costs. It was like she wanted her to just sign on the dotted line without doing any kind of thinking. She was pretty much like, "You're not going to order a cake today, soooo..." This is a true story! How rude is that? I'm sorry, but reputations are not built this way. The cakes we tasted were all right. They did bring out at least 8 or 9 samples, which was a good number to choose from. After sampling, my friend ended up selecting a cake that day and ordering. Not sure I would've after that. FYI: There are too parking spots at the business. TWO! You have to find parking near the train station and walk otherwise. read more

I prob should have chosen a different company. They weren't flexible with the designs, or the flavors. The cakes are too sweet but they would not lower the amount of sugar. The cake arrived too early for my wedding despite my repeated mentions of the exact time I wanted it there. Because it arrived too early and the weather was hot in September, the cake started melting and falling apart forcing us to change the cake cutting time and thus guests leaving earlier than we wanted. We ordered a cake for a birthday. The cake was ordered on April 1st and confirmed to ship out on the 11th for delivery by the 12th. At 7 pm on April 7th we were notified by email that due to "production issues" the cake would not ship out until the 12th with possible delivery on the 13th. Of course this was too late for the party on the 12th and too late to order a cake from elsewhere. I emailed Montilios for more info and to see if there was anything that could be done so the cake would arrive in time. No response whatsoever. The cake didn't arrive until the night of the 13th AND was damaged in shipment - the icing was missing along the sides of the cake in several areas. The cake certainly wasn't worth the $$$ we paid and there is absolutely no customer service. I would never order from this bakery again and advise this bakery certainly shouldn't be trusted for a wedding. What kind of business commits to a date and then suddenly decides to change the promised date a week later?? read more

Better late than never (my review, not your service). SO... a coworker of mine was celebrating her birthday and we got her a cake from Montilio's and was going to have it delivered to our company party. We were having a party at the World Trade Center so we schedule to have our cake delivered there. We were told that it would be there at 11:30. Perfect! Nearly four hours later and many phone calls to Montilio's our cake finally arrived, well after we had eaten and people had already begun to leave. I have never in my life had so much frustration trying to get some sort of explanation why service was way below par. George, the manager promised that the driver was "on his way" when he was only an hour late. I must have made somewhere close to a dozen calls after that. trying to figure out why my cake hadn't been delivered yet, only to be told each time that "the driver was on the way" and that "this normal doesn't happen". I asked if the driver had been contacted but they told me that they had talked to him and that he was going to be there soon. By the third hour George wouldn't even care to get on the phone with me and apologize for the late delivery and poor service. Not only that but when the driver did finally arrive, he laughed about being SO late and said that he was in traffic. Now this was no after noon, rush hour time frame... we're talking about the mid day when everyone is in work and you're only coming from 45 minutes away WITH traffic. I could have went to another friggin' state and back for a cake in the time that it took you to get there... don't laugh at me budddy. The cake was decent, nothing special... and overpriced if you ask me. We received no further explanation or ANY type of apology on behalf of the driver, or Montilio's as a whole. I wouldn't recommend them. I couldn't... I would feel down right awful if they provided someone I knew with the service that we received. read more

Montilio's saved my boyfriend's birthday yesterday! I ordered a cake from somewhere in Braintree a few days ago. Standard Marble with strawberries. Morning of his birthday I get a text stating, "yanno.. my favorite is Italian rum cake." I could have died. I knew I wouldn't get it. I called Whites bakery and was laughed off the phone. I wanted an Italian Rum Cake in 8 hours?? No wayyy. I called three other bakeries and they didn't even make Italian Rum Cakes. This blows my mind. After being defeated I called Montilio's in Brockton. The woman who answered the phone ( I wish I remembered her name ) listened to my question and responded with " Of course I can make you a rum cake today!" I asked for Strawberries on it and told her I was feeding several big boys. I thought 43.00 was expensive for a round birthday cake. I was a little uneasy about the quality and price of a rush rum cake. I showed up and the minute I walked in the door the woman brought out the most beautiful cake I've ever purchased. I obviously didn't realize a 15" round is massive! There were so many hugeeeee chocolate covered strawberries lining the top and there was a lovely gold ribbon draped over it with his name on it. When she handed me the cake I realized it must have weighed at least ten pounds. After boxing it up I thought I was robbing them for $43.00. This cake was probably top three pieces of cake I've had. It was soaked in Rum with fresh juicy strawberries. It tasted even better than it looked! I went here because it was close to work. In planning our wedding, this place came highly recommended through different sources including our wedding function's coordinator. We were able to schedule a tasting at a time most suitable for us within their business hours. And it seemed as though we had the place to ourselves for the tasting. The cake designer was very pleasant accommodating and listen to every thought and idea we had for the cake. With all this info taken, we sampled several different flavors of cakes. ALL WERE DELICIOUS!!! We had a hard time picking what we wanted for our top tier and what our guest would have. Final planning, they explained to the process and they would deliver the cake for us. Awesome, one less worry. We went with a beach cake theme with two beach chairs on top, both fans of the beach and Cape Cod. The cake was beautiful and plenty of it for our guest. The price was definitely suitable for our budget, of course they do require a down payment which was suitable to our liking as well. They also do cakes for other functions and events that they are well know for, and they sell different pastry, cookies, and cakes. Of course we took few items after the tasting because it looked so good. Everything is made fresh, daily. I highly recommend this bakery for all your baked goods need and events! One star deducted for the parking. Limited parking at the location, we parked in the T-Station parking lot right next to the location. BUT well worth it for what experience. read more

I came here today with two friends for a cake tasting for their wedding. After being hit in the face by the most glorious smell on earth upon entering, we were seated quickly and given complimentary water bottles. The lovely woman consulting with us was absolutely lovely and showed us pictures and explained everything about their cakes and prices. Let's talk about the most important part: cake. After a very sugary upbringing, I consider myself to be a cake achiever, so one might describe me as a bit of a cake snob. We tried several cakes all of which impressed. I'm usually a standard vanilla or chocolate sort of girl but I was blown away by their vanilla was raspberry filling and orange cake with lemon filling. The carrot cake, one I typically don't eat, was perfectly balanced with sweet and spice. As for the frosting, I would willingly and gladly jump into a vat of their buttercream; perfectly smooth, light, delicate, and the most balanced sweetness. It's a pity they don't sell it by the tub-full. If the cakes are any indication, I expect all the goods in this establishment to be of the most superior quality that I greatly look forward to sampling in copious amounts. read more

When we all packed up and left the hotel the next day everyone was talking about how yummy the cake was, and it was adorable too! So far my rating is only due to random pop ins to get random things, possibly will update in future if I ever preorder a special cake etc. I live in walking distance so this is the only reason once and awhile I'll pop in here to get a few sweets for the house. Usually a few cookies and cupcakes. If I couldn't walk here I probably would avoid since there's legit no parking and the basically two spots to park are on this god awful steep hill on a sidewalk. I assume most park in the train station lot and walk over. I have never ordered a cake or anything from here so haven't experienced that part. I tend to avoid ordering cakes from bakeries since they always cost so much and a $25 basic Walmart bakery cake makes the kids happy at parties. I'm not super into caring on how the appearance of their cake is. But do plan to do those type come big deal birthdays once they are older like 16th, 18th etc. I do enjoy coming in here once and awhile and getting a few things from the stuff they offer inside, but I'm not sure if I ever planned on pre ordering cake id pick here. There's many other places to choose. And i like a place that usually will stick close to their quote price and it's not surprise $40 more than quoted when go to pick up. Which I don't know if this is one of those type bakeries that do that, but did see maybe a few comments with complaints that they paid $50-$100 for a single layer cake that looked basic. Or was quoted one price then was way more once time to pay for it. Most bakeries are good at quotes and sticking in that range. But since I visit here I do plan on keeping them in my mind for the future when I plan on having order a special cake. read more
