It was my first time here. This place is really nice, very clean and the staff is very friendly. Dr. Lee is great, I just wish she would've spent more time with me, she's very quick so I didn't get to ask that many questions. However, she is knowledgeable on what she's doing so that's a plus. I now have to pay for my own medical, dental and optical insurance i am extremely careful and research on who are the best. My experience with Dr Kim was unbelievable no BS. She and her assistant was professional and kind. The assistant had all the information on what Your Insurance covered.!!!! Wow i did not have to wait until i got the bill from the insurance company. I had a great experience with Dr. Kim and her staff. The store is very clean, laid out well, and overall is a light and airy space. I felt very comfortable immediately upon entering. Yvonne, Dr. Kim's assistant, is knowledgeable and calculated my out of pocket expenses very quickly so I knew what my insurance would cover. Dr. Kim was very gentle, but thorough. I was impressed that when a test showed one of my eyes reacted differently to the other she wanted to collect more data so that we can monitor any changes over time. Actually embarrassing but I looked at my cell phone with my new contacts as a test and started to cry. I could see it without my cheaters!!!! I can't tell you how this will change my life. I came in for a long overdue eye exam and a new pair of glasses. Dr. Kim was extremely helpful and patient and answered all of my questions. I was done with my exam shortly after getting there. Yvonne then helped me pick out a pair of glasses; I probably spent at least a good half-hour looking at different pairs, and she was super helpful throughout. I had a great experience with Dr. Kim when she checked out my eyes. However, she or one of her assistants wrote the wrong expiration date on my contact lens prescription. As a result, I'm having to scramble to find a new optometrist in my area (I've since moved) in order to get a new shipment of contact lenses. Had I known my prescription expired, I would've ordered lenses earlier. I'm not sure if this is a freak clerical error, but it's extremely inconvenient, and I recommend double-checking your prescription slip before you leave the office. read more

I have fallen in love with Montrose Optometry. I had the best experience from start to finish with them. I recently moved to California and was looking for a new optometrist. I found that Montrose Op was covered under my insurance but the insurance is under my dad's name. I called the office and explained that I wasn't sure on the details of my coverage and the assistant said she could help. Long story short, there was a bunch of wonkiness with locating my policy, but she helped me figure everything out and get an appointment set up, AND went over my policy with me so I wasn't confused at all about what I would be paying for, what was covered, etc. SO, today comes around, I go in, everyone is super duper nice and friendly, Dr. Kim was thorough, informative, and quick. She discussed, at length, with me about my reservations about getting contacts, and was overall just very nice and helpful. I was going to have to leave my glasses with them to get new lenses, and I didn't have a back up pair. Which was unfortunate, but I didn't have much of a choice. Yvonne, the assistant (I think that was her name), had a spare pair of glasses with her that happened to be a similar prescription to mine, and she LENT ME HER GLASSES to use until mine were ready!! Mind. Blown. Talk about going above and beyond. Yvonne also went over all of my options for my new lenses with me, because she could see that I was at a loss when she asked about material options and anti-glare coatings... AND she calculated my out-of-pocket expense after insurance for each of the options! Seriously an amazing experience. All businesses should conduct themselves this way... read more

I've now purchased three pairs of high-end designer glasses from Montrose Optometry (my Pradas cost nearly $900), and each time I've had uncomfortable conversations with the owner, Dr. Kim, who seems to be put out by customer interaction. If you don't want a lot of attitude when buying expensive merchandise - especially when it could be ordered anywhere else for the same price - don't shop here. Wait, it gets better (and I mean worse): Today, I went in to pick-up my wife's Versace prescription glasses w. new custom lenses because the $$$ progressive lenses she picked up from this very store a week earlier made her so dizzy she couldn't walk in them. When I asked the counter person to return the one-week old lenses, I was told they were in their trashcan. I made him fish them out - they were just loose in the can with all manner of garbage - and they emerged deeply scratched. I was told "that's how they came in" - despite them being one week old and having been worn for one day. Dr. Kim came in toward the end of this and acted annoyed (BUT SHE ALWAYS ACTS ANNOYED), even though I've spent thousands of dollars in her store. By the way, was the doc in any way humble about the previous lenses not being appropriate for my wife's vision (even though it was she who gave her the eye exam)? Not at all. Instead, she stated it was my wife's fault for "not giving them more time". Eventually, her solution was to offer us a "free pair" of lenses...that is, if we purchased another pair of frames from her store! Does it seem honest that they throw away your lenses and then require you to buy another frame in order to get them back in useable condition? I'll leave that up to smart Yelp consumers to determine. But in this economy, and with so many online options, why be treated poorly by any shop owner? Dr. Kim of Montrose Optometry is difficult to deal with...over and over. read more

I've been going to Montrose Optometry for many years, for both myself and my daughter, and Dr. Kim is really wonderful. I have super funky eyes - they have totally different prescriptions - and Dr. Kim has worked super hard to find the right combo of contact lenses for me (I wear two different brands). She was very, very patient with me in the beginning, when this took a lot of time to figure out. She also knew that my contacts would be fully covered by insurance, as they were considered "medically necessary" due to the disparity between my eyes. Her staff is very friendly and efficient. They have helped me chose frames, without pressuring me - I couldn't find a sunglasses frame that I liked, and I felt able to walk away without feeling as if I'd wasted their time. The fact that they have Saturday hours is also extremely helpful for us working folk! Thanks so much, Dr. Kim, for having such a customer-friendly business. read more
