Our waitress took forever to take our order and even longer to bring us the food that was already sitting by the kitchen window, evidently ready to be served. In fact, I got so fed up I actually walked to the bar to ask the bartender if she could remind our waitress to deliver us our food - turns out she was casually socializing with some friends near the pool tables. Anyway, when the food finally arrived almost 45 minutes later, it was disappointly mediocre. Thankfully the wings weren't dry but the honey garlic sauce was more just honey and the breaded wings could use more seasoning - they were rather bland. The pizza was subpar - the crust was thin yet tough and the toppings were eh. Overall, I probably would've had quicker service and better food at a fast food joint. Regrets.

I'm just sensitive though so I ate it. But I wish I had ordered a burger because it was so oily and bland. Neither the sautéed onions or the chicken were cooked properly resulting in a watery and oily dish. I'd say do what the regulars were doing and stick to some deep fried mozzarella sticks or something. And if you have dietary restrictions just avoid at all costs.

I am not sure how it was cooled, but we didn't need to adjust it during our stay. My uncle liked being able to walk outside for his smoking habit. The food was very good. I critique restaurants very harshly, so for them to get a five star rating is a big deal. I ate a grilled shrimp meal the first evening. The cocktail sauce was a chef preparation with horseradish and red pepper? Flakes. It was simply the best spicy cocktail sauce I have ever had. No lie. A bit hot for some for sure. The only flaw in the meal was the sauteed green beans were a bit tough. This happens if they are not par cooked and chilled before sautee. I ordered a key lime pie for dessert that I would not recommend. It had too much rind and was watery. The second night we got in past the kitchen close time of 9 pm. Guess what. They still allowed us a shortened menu. I had the steak bites and italian cheese sticks. The steak bites were served on the most delicious pie crusty/popover things with a horseradish sauce. Yum. As innkeepers; being nice to guests arriving late is something that really set them apart. The last evening, I had the king cut of prime rib. It, too, was superb. I also was served the same green beans, but they were prepared a bit differently it seemed. They were not as tough, but they gave me such a huge piece of prime rib, I had no room for it all. The next morning we were going to leave before their brunch, however, we ended up staying. I had a nearly table side prepared omelet and it was the best breakfast I had all week. I also had the french toast. The only complaint on the toast was the syrup was served cold and that is a pet peeve of mine. The fresh fruit was a wonderful addition and the coffee was perfect. I sat at the bar, and the bartender made a delicious suggestion for both a beer and food. As a Texan, it was odd to me to be eating a BBQ pork sandwich in Canada, but it was delicious. It paired well with my beers, and was a different BBQ taste experience than I had tasted before. The bartender, Oner, turned out to be the owner, and he made a few suggestions for other places to eat at while I was in Thunder Bay. Both were excellent selections as well! Appreciative of great hospitality, cold brews, and warm food. This place was a great surprise and a real find for us. For some reason it does not come up as a "restaurant" (for me, anyway) on the Yelp search. It did come up in a search for "pub". The menu lists their House Caesar as being made with tequila, but our friendly server told us we could order it with gin, or vodka, which we prefer. The drinks came quickly. They were tasty and spicy, but not too spicy. The rimmer was a unique concoction created by the bar staff. The food menu offers way more than pub fare. In addition to the pizzas and burgers, they also have excellent pasta selections, soup, salads, chicken, steak, and more. My wife ordered the smoked salmon salad with veggies and blue cheese. I'm pretty sure she really liked it, because she did not offer me a taste, which she usually does. I ordered the fish and chips. I fully expected to get those over-battered, deep-fried frozen triangle fish things so many other places serve. What I received was a whole fresh filet, which was lightly breaded and pan-fried. It was accompanied by house-made tartar sauce, and crispy hot fries. My meal was delicious. I enjoyed it, but not so much that I did not offer some of the fries to my wife (she accepted them gladly. This is not a drinking hole, but a meeting place to start an evening. There's one beer on tap (Coors Light) so don't bother. Find something of a bottled variety or cozy in with a mixed drink. Though not nearly as elegant as the King Edward cocktail lounge (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/le-meridan-king-edward---cocktail-lounge-toronto), it still puts me in mind of the place.
