After my jarring experience at a fine-dining restaurant, my husband and I could not end the night on a bad note on a prized date night so we went to Moods. We went for a glass of wine each, but the food is what blew my mind. I ordered the chicken kebab (pictured) and my husband had an eggplant dish, and both were phenomenal. I cleaned out my plate, and mind you, this was after my full four course meal dinner lol But the service is the stickiness. The owners are a wife and husband duo. You just get joy out of watching them serve their customers together. And while this is my first time here, I think this will be a favorite! read more

I met a friend at this place on a Sunday evening around 5pm. Since the address showed downtown Sunnyvale, I was a bit hesitant about the parking and left early but this place is a street way from downtown and has a large parking space right next to the building. It was not very crowded and I found parking immediately. They have a outdoor patio that has about 10ish tables and we settled in at one. They also have indoor seating with a large bar and live music on the weekend but no one seemed to be playing that day. I though the prices were a bit on the high side but during Happy Hour, which on a Sunday was from 4-6pm, it's $2 off for a glass of wine and $10 off bottles. Happy Hour is Tue-Sun. They have an extensive drink menu with white, sparkling and red wines, cocktails and beer. The food menu has bites, entrees and desserts. It's Turkish food and even though we didn't order food, except the nuts, the menu sounded delicious! Service was slow, we must have sat there for a good 15 minutes before the owner came by to get our order. And, it was not busy, there were people seated at 3 tables outside and about the same or less inside. The owner, who took our order, apologized for the wait and took our order and then served my order to my friend and vice versa. He seemed a bit rushed. My fried also ordered the nuts and olives which was $7 and she had to remind him about the order. No one checked in with us after we were served and we had to flag the lady down to get our bill. Despite the above, the sparkling Rose was delicious and worth a second visit, I can't wait to go back and try the other wines on the menu! The pours were also quite generous. read more

What an amazing place with luxurious vibes! Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to eat any of the food, but it all looked DELICIOUS. I will be forcing my beau to bring me back out for a date night. I showed up on a Saturday night for a private event taking place. As I stepped in, I loved the lighting and the cute aesthetic of the place. I was greeted by one of the friendly owners, and she'd selected a great array of wine options that night. I stuck with bubbles and eased into the great live music and dancing. This place was not just a restaurant, it was like being hosted in the fun home of your favorite neighbor. The other owner joined the band to drum, and danced the night away while keeping the party going; It was just a great time. I am unfamiliar with their prior location in Palo Alto, but what a lovely addition to downtown Sunnyvale. I'm looking forward to experiencing what this place feels like during live music, and trying some tasty food items off the menu. It's great to find a new wine bar in Sunnyvale after the demise of Vino Vino. Moods has a convenient location with parking practically alongside it. There's also live music, which is unusual for a Thursday. Even though we were on the patio, I heard drifts of the music and it sounded great. I've read some comments about the speed of service but it's one of those issues when the owners are doing everything from hosting to kitchen duty. Mahmood's wife wasn't available due to a family emergency yesterday, and the busy afternoon caused a delay in our food order. But Mahmood kindly offered to take one of the food items from our tab despite the extenuating circumstances. I really appreciate his generosity and certainly recommend Moods to anyone wanting a great wine bar with a friendly atmosphere! read more

Standout selections include: - Pino Noir '20 Domaine Eden winery in Santa Cruz - Zinfandel '22, Wild Thing winery in Mendocino - Sangiovese '23, Pasqua winnery in Puglia For the aushak; the meat sauce / yogurt is great. The dumplings are mushy. I recommend ordering extra bread with the aushak so that you can mop up the awesome sauce with the bread. Friday live music is relaxing. This is our new favorite spot for a drink! This place is exactly what downtown Sunnyvale needed, a casual place with great vibes. Mahmoud and his wife are great owners as they immediately greet you and welcome you to their new place. Grab a seat on the patio or inside and listen to the 80s music. Mahmoud told how he used to be a DJ and loves music. The wait staff is so attentive, we had water on our table and as we finished they brought another bottle out immediately. They have a nice wine list for whatever you like to drink, plus beers and cocktails. There is something for everyone. They also have several food options and a Happy Hour. We ordered the Bacon Flatbread Pizza and really liked the mix of salty and sweet. We will be back for Happy Moods! read more

Great spot with live music and awesome vibes. Perfect for both a date night or a group dinner. We came on a Friday evening and were seated right away. All the food we tried was incredible. The salmon crostini appetizer was perfect, and the Afghani bread was fluffy with the right mix of flavor and texture. The lamb khorma was tender, flavorful, and a generous portion. My boyfriend said the veg borani banjan might be his favorite eggplant dish ever, and he's had a lot of eggplant in his life lol. I also loved that both dishes came with a side of dahl. The staff were friendly and helpful. We tried the wine flight but didn't know which to pick, so our waitress chose her favorite reds for us, and she did not disappoint. All four were great. I liked the Syrah '21 most. We also got the Some Like it Hot mango jalapeño marg which we really liked too. Had a great kick to it All in all, a fantastic experience. The day we came there was live music and the place was decently packed. The owner introduced himself at our table and chatted with us for a couple minutes. Super friendly guy and pretty decent jokes too. Their menu consisted some wines, beers, and soju based cocktails. We got some wine and dumplings. I was happy with the wine choice. Dumplings were covered in slightly spiced tomato meat sauce. I would recommend trying it. I'm glad Moods is here, downtown needs a spot like this. read more

I wanted to give five stars. I really loved the atmosphere. Lucas y Kendall were performing live. Everyone was having a great time. The owner has wonderful energy and a grand personality. The bigger issues were just so drastic that I had to lower my rating. Firstly, the entrance was locked when I arrived. I had to enter through the back door. Okay, no big deal. It happens. Secondly, I order my glass of wine and there are fruit flies in it. Not just one. At least 8. This should have made me run off, but I am not easily grossed out. I know fruit flies won't give me any illness so I think it's a harmless mistake. I simply ask them to replace my wine. I even order a starter. Unfortunately, the starter comes out maybe 30 or so minutes after my wine. It's pretty good, but for crostini, it. could have been out quicker. Lastly, at the end of the night, I get my check. The wine is still on my tab. I ask the server to remove the glass of wine from my bill. She says, "I gave you a new glass..." to which I reply, "there was still a fly in it, I just took it out." She happily removes the glass of wine from the bill, I leave a tip and I leave. I wish I could say that I would be returning, but I can't risk it. I know it's a new place and they still have some kinks to work out. When they do, maybe I will give it another try. read more

There was a trio playing, Ina, Sasha and Mike, so good that we stayed and stayed and stayed, drinking wine, eating bruschetta, and vastly enjoying the whole evening.
