We love shopping at Moodys. It is important to support small local businesses, especially when they are supporting local Texas ranchers. It is getting harder for small businesses and ranchers to survive. I love going to Moodys because of the excellent service I get, especially knowing I am supporting my local community. Any questions I ask their staff are answered so kindly. The meat is high quality and tastes so much better than other places. Probably because it's not covered in chemicals or is pink slime that big grocery stores sell. Moodys is clean, the temp is cold (as it should be, it is a meat market!), and the customer service is top notch. Even the folks at the register are extremely nice. There's a reason they've been in business for so long. Some of our favorite products are the rib eye, filet mignon, ground beef, stuffed pork chops, the eggs, beef tallow, and the apple butter. Oh, well everything else they sell too!! Just didn't want to list off the whole store :) read more

The Moench family are fine folks ( damn Aggies ‍). They have some incredible meat and other products. You can call in and order two pork chops or twenty chicken breasts and it will be ready as promised. They usually have the hard to find items like veal or lamb. Special ordering isn't an issue, either. One can't go wrong visiting their Holly location. read more

Part of Ryan's Famous Texas beef jerky tour - very basic meat market counter service with very thin sliced jerky by the lb. these are your basic paper thin super wide sliced jerky but a great smoke flavor and easy eatin! careful you will eat the whole lb in a matter of minutes if you aren't careful. read more

Updated review: You know, i love the jerky they make. Ive bought meat orders there a few times but the last couple of times ive gone the employees have been very short/rude. I dont care how good their jerky is, i will not be going there anymore or giving them my business because of how they speak to me. Today i called and wanted to place a order so itd be ready for me to pick up by the time i drove there. When the guy answered the phone before i could even finish my question he cut me off and told me they arent taking orders on the phone and i have to physically come in. Ok fine. I get in my car and drive all the way to the meat shop and spend 15min in line only to get to the front of the line and be told theyre not doing orders at all because theyre sold out of most of their meat. Why the man i spoke to didnt tell me this on the phone ill never know. I just moved here from alabama not even 3mo ago and in that short period of time ive spent nearly 1000$ there, going 2-3 times a week. Each time i go im treated rudely and im fed up with it. Its a shame really. Business owners get complacent and just think they dont have to respect customers anymore. I really liked this place. Disappointing. read more

We just moved here from California and I am so glad a local recommended Moody's! I went in just to "check things out" and walked out with an armful! The woman at the register began making suggestions, the beef enchiladas were so good I won't bother making my own anymore. The charro beans are so spicy and delicious. The chips and salsa they carry are way better than HEB. I bought the hot honey and it was super hot! I love it! I didn't even buy meat that day. Went back a few days later and bought bacon, 10 filets and skirt steak all amazing. So happy we found you! read more

Was so happy to see Moody's move to the south side of town from their long-standing location. While their older store wasn't that hard to get to, this one is MUCH more convenient. AND, it seems two other major changes have happened since their move. The prices on their vast selection of meats has gotten more competitive and their employees seem to have all gone through a customer service training program. When you walk in, the very first thing you notice is a nice, smoky aroma that conjures visions of hung meat, sausages, hams in a giant smokehouse. The next thing is the warm greeting by one of the many butchers behind the counter. Even just glancing from case to case, there's always a warm "Hello, can I help you?" but without the added pressure to make a decision. If you haven't been in this place, if for nothing else, you HAVE to check out the huge selection of fresh-made/smoked sausages. Just about every flavor, style and meat ingredient is represented in a casing. Excellent choices abound in here. We recently got one of their chuck roasts and it was one of the most tender I've ever had. And you can't go wrong snapping up a few of their "mock" filets - ground beef, shaped like a filet and wrapped in bacon - for less than 2 bucks each! Yeah, Moody's has become one of our favorite places to stock up on meat. Looking forward to our next visit. read more

Moody's is always clean and has extremely helpful staff. They have a fantastic selection of meat and meat products, in addition to a few extras that sometimes get forgotten like cans of beans and seasonings. Their bacon and sausage are delicious. They will also special order pieces for you or cut down a piece if a roast is too big for you. We've ordered prime rib roast from them every year for Christmas for years now. Their new store is large and has a nice layout so it's fairly easy to get in and out. It also has the best smell of smoked meat which just elevates the whole shopping experience. read more

Not to say they're pre-made frozen dinners entrees, dessert cobblers, and side dishes make it easy for those who are always on the go. I am a BBQ hound!. I have a XL Big Green Egg and smokey meats are my thing. I've purchased meat from local grocery stores and done the best I can with it but when I bought Moody's Meats, ribeyes, Tbone, lamb chops, handmade sausages, I can say without a doubt it was the best meat I've ever served. The steaks are of such amazing quality and now they even have dry-aged. Let me just say, dry-aged is pricey but dear Lord there is something ridiculously special about that process. If you want to prepare the best meal of your life for the people you love the most, Moody's Meat is worth it all day long. There is so much to say about the oven-ready prepared foods that I won't have enough space but I will say I've taken most of their prepared foods and smoked them on my Egg and it was absolutely killer. I'm going off my norm and going 5 stars. The main and only reason is freshness. I've bought and cooked different meat meals from the local grocery stores and including their butch shops with no comparison. The ribeye steaks with just some salt and pepper are the bomb, just so juicy and flavorful. Selection of options are great as well. They make there own bratwurst that are just amazing to the point I hate eating hotdogs after that taste. The awesome brats for me are the cats meow. A little spicy mustard and your set. Quality meat is exactly right. I tried Moody's for the first time last week and the steaks were awesome! I bought a porterhouse for myself and a ribeye for my mom and my girlfriend. The meat was really good quality. It did great on the grill. The steaks weren't paper thin like a lot of the big box grocery stores and the staff was super helpful. Price was comparable to what you would pay per pound at HEB. If you are looking for high end steak look no further than Moody's! read more
