Then there was another Yelp opportunity at Homestead to try its different cake flavors. There is a cute room next to the bakery just for events like tea time. The buttercream at Homestead is some of the best I've ever had. It's light but still rich and buttery. I will order from here if I ever need a cake for a special event. Since those two Yelp events, I've been back to the bakery several times to try its cupcakes and savory items, like the dill soup, which is so delicious and comes with cornbread. I'd love to see more savory meals offered. One drawback is that Homestead has limited hours which is why I've only been back several times. Walk-in hours right now are Friday 10am-6pm and Saturday 9am-3pm. The rest of the time it's open for special events and orders made in advance which you can do on its website. Also, you can only order one flavor of cupcake on the website, not a variety of flavors. It would be nice to see more flavors offered like the buttercream flavors I tried at the Yelp event as well as expanded hours for the bakery.

I love the level of service that Sorella's gives to each customer. I stopped in when I was in town to talk through the details of my event and to determine the perfect cake. While I knew a little about what I wanted (buttercream and vanilla cake) they asked about layers and colors and a range of things that made the perfect cake. And they assured me it would be ready on time for pickup and it was! Know that they need at least a couple of weeks as all of their cakes are customized so don't wander in the day of your event and expect to get a cake. And what was even more special was the look on my mom's face when she saw the cake and we all gathered around her to sing, "Happy Birthday". The moment was priceless. I asked for assistance since everything was mixed in, this is NOT normal. The lady said everything is label, which I let her know it wasn't and was mixed in. She handed me which possibly was a snickers cookie, it seemed old and hard. I placed that one back and grabbed a softer one. I ordered a caramel macchiato, small. She started making the drink and said she was out of caramel, did I want another flavor? I said sure just do pistachio. The original drink was listed at $4 and the larger $4.50. She rung the drink up as $6. I waited thinking she was going to adjust it, then she asked cash or card? I mentioned the price error. She scoffed that she had to made modifications because they were out of caramel. I told her NOTHING on the menu was $6 and it was a replacement syrup. It was ok, I'll just get the cookie. In a very combative tone she asked, what am I supposed to do with this drink? I shared how I was unfamiliar with their policies. She went on and on about how she made the drink and in her exact words, "I can't explain why it is $6, it just is." At that point I told her I would not be purchasing anything and left. This is a place I enjoyed going to, I wouldn't be surprised if they close soon due to poor service and quality.
