Beautiful tree, great service! We looked at all our local nurseries decided to get this mature Chinese Pistache already enjoying fall color.

Danny and his guys were great from the start (so we're Manny and Drew). We had been shopping around for a big tree for our front yard and was so excited to fund these guys. HUGE lot and so great that they grow all of their own trees on site. They were very knowledgeable and professional as you are greeted upon arrival and sat down to go over what it is you are looking for and what's right for your area etc. When the guys came to our house they were AMAZING. There must've been at least seven of them all there to unload and plant our tree. They were careful and respectful of our preferences. They even planted a couple of extra bushes for us. My experience was positive from first visit to the installation of the trees. Except for a couple of cancellations, the process was smooth and efficient and the team was friendly and informative. I'm dismayed to see all the stars this nursery gets. We visited the nursery three times after we purchased our new home, because they were local. From visit to visit, the prices changed for what we wanted, and the prices were all ridiculously high! The sellers working the nursery were very nice (hence the second star), but it was clear they knew how insane the pricing structure is, particularly considering the location, in an agricultural valley where orchards and nurseries abound. We chose to work with two other nurseries for our tree planting, and had our landscaper make the purchase. He fetched us prices that did not come close to what Moon Valley charges. His crews and the trees cost far less than if we had purchased from Moon Unit. So we bought more trees. :-) read more

Wow what an experience! I was recommended to come to Moon Valley Fillmore from my sister and her Fiance after working with the GM of the store Emilio. They raved about how great of a selection they have and how huge some of their trees really are and since I just moved into my own place they would be the perfect stop to fix up the landscaping. I whole heartedly agree with Brenda T. These folks are worse than used car salesman. Do not bother with them. October 9 I spoke with a designer named Eduardo and told him I wanted a 12 foot queen palm. Eduardo "oh sure sir, that will be $565. Come in in and we'll take care of you. Oh and bring some pictures of your yard and we can discuss more options too." Called Eduardo on Oct 10, and explained that all I wanted was that 12' palm and the story changes. Eduardo "let me check that price for you sir. That will be $1100." Two reasons why I'm guessing his price changed. 1. Eduardo found out that I had already been quoted $1100 by a landscaper and that guy called him. 2. I was buying just on tree and was not interested in his suggestions to add more trees. I have heard similar stories from others. read more

The very best tree nursery and staff. They walked the lot with us and answered all of our questions and concerns until we found the perfect tree for our yard. They are very knowledgeable and professional. Mr. Torres and his team did a fantastic job transporting the tree from the nursery to its new home in our backyard. There were a few challenges they had to navigate, from a tight gate opening to low a overhead pergola. They were very careful and got the tree safely in the ground. These folks are worse than used car salesman. They will cheat, steal and rip you off, and they will break your equipment. I bought a few trees from them some time ago and it was THE worst experience period!!! They will change their prices when you get there; they will break your equipment when they come to plant; and they will switch trees on you when they deliver! I had completely unsatisfactory experience with Moon Valley Nurseries in Filmore, CA. I was misled in terms of pricing of the trees. I was misled in terms of delivery and planting costs. I wasted $200 for Design Consultation. Tried to contact Customer Service to try to resolve the issue to no avail. I can hardly remember worse experience with buying expensive items, maybe my first and last used car buying experience was worse than this. One can easily find much more reasonably priced plants, trees and service somewhere else. read more

Installation crew is professional and fast. I ordered a bunch of Queen and King Palms, and their team came out and expertly dug and planted the trees. When we found some underground obstacles, they gave me some options and made it work. After they were done, everything was cleaned up - like they were never there. Except for the beautiful trees. We wanted to replace the tree in our front yard. We met with Manny do discuss the type of tree. Manny and all the people we encountered at Moon Valley Nurseries are extremely knowledgeable about trees. We bought two 32" box trees and included delivery and installation. Installation was worth every penny. The crew dug the hole, added soil amendments, planted the tree and watered. They also cleaned up all the left over debris. Be very careful with the sales reps. They have a nice selection but will over charge you. We purchased 3 olive trees from them and they gave us the 'Bait and switch' price. We went to a few local nurseries in Santa Barbara and they gave us retail prices on our order that were much cheaper then Moon valleys prices. When we asked for the contractor prices they gave the SAnta Barbara retail price. My suggestion would be to avoid being screwed and shop somewhere else. read more

We bought 5 trees and various other flowering plants from Moon Valley. Their property in Fillmore was incredible. Their selection was amazing. The guys that work there were so helpful. They really know their business and we're able to answer all our questions. Their prices were very competitive. We had all 5 trees delivered to Thousand Oaks and they planted all the trees. They did a great job. The trees look amazing and they cleaned up everything. I would recommend Moon Valley to anyone looking to landscape your entire yard or just do it yourself. We purchased 3 Queen Palms and had a perfect, trouble-free installation in April by Mauricio Martinez and his crew. Great job guys! They arrived first thing in the morning at 7 a.m., immediately got down to business, and wrapped things up a couple hours later. Those guys worked fast digging the giant holes and getting those 15-foot trees planted, even though it was really hot that morning. They were totally organized and they cleaned up the yard and work areas really well, leaving no debris. Mauricio kept us in the loop as they went about their work and took the time afterwards to go over the initial tree care. I give Mauricio and his crew 5 stars. But since this review is for Moon Valley Nurseries, I'm giving it 4 stars, which is still a positive review. However, I wish I had compared prices on queen palms at other nurseries. Turns out other places had them several hundred dollars cheaper. (So shop around first.) Fortunately, the great experience with Mauricio's crew and the overall quick, professional installation made up for it! read more

We needed to replace a tree in our yard in Ventura, so came to Moon Valley Nursery at the recommendation of our landscaper. They have more than 100,000 trees on site so we knew we would find at least one! Edwardo was awesome - super knowledgeable, helpful with our questions and just a really nice guy. We chose a "Fruit Salad" tree which is a peach, apricot and plum grafted onto one. After we looked at several, we picked ours and the helpful staff brought it up to the front of the property and put it in the trailer for us (they deliver & install too if needed). We highly recommend making the trip to Moon Valley for great service and a spectacular selection. Easy access on highway 126 - convenient for LA, Ventura or Santa Barbara County. read more

We had an idea of what we wanted in regards to a new look for our home. When we arrived at Moon Valley we were in great hands right from the start with Manny. He made us feel very comfortable asking questions and getting our idea across to him. He helped guide us to exactly what we were looking for in a friendly and professional manner. What an amazing experience. Eduardo drove me around until we found the perfect olive tree. Ed and Maurico delivered and planted it. It was a difficult delivery and they were absolutely fantastic. They protected the tree from any damage as it was a very awkward space and quite a large tree. This was the highlight of my month. The tree is beautiful and the experience was problem free. Went to Moon Valley Nursery in Fillmore just to get ideas of what kind of tree we wanted for our front yard. We met with Manny Navarro. He showed us different trees based on where we live. He was very knowledgable about every tree we looked at. We decided on a Stawberry Tree. It has a beautiful rust colored trunk with pink ornamental buds. Not only was he helpful, he was able to schedule our tree planting the day before Thanksgiving. I received a call in the morning and they were at my house within the hour they said. I know we will be doing more business with Moon Valley Nursery in Fillmore since we are working on our front yard. They not only sell trees, but all sorts of plants. We were extremely impressed with Moon Valley. Not only did they have a huge selection of trees, but Zane took as around and showed us everything we wanted to see. He was kind and knowledgeable. He never pressured us to buy anything. He was fun and patient with us even at closing time. Go and ask for Zane to take you around, we urge you to! The sale process was easy and accommodating. What a fun and easy experience to buy trees! As a new home owner, I've never had the opportunity to plant anything lasting. I went into the nursery with my son (age 7) just knowing I wanted a fruit tree or three. I was worried that I would kill a tree if I got one that was too young, and besides, I really wanted to see some fruit in the next two years. When I got there, we were greeted by one of the tree expert guys, who drove us all around in a cool little off road vehicle. He showed us all the different fruit trees and sizes. Within an hour, when I found out the prices were really reasonable for big trees that would bear fruit THIS year? And they deliver and plant them for you?? Sold. I am now the proud new owner of a big lemon tree, an apple tree, and a big Hass avocado tree. The guys who came out to install the trees were on time, fast working and professional. Worst retail experience ever. Even worse than buying a used car. Avoid all Moon Valley Nurseries. The sales ads are complete lies just to get you in the door. They don't have much of a selection of small trees, because as their manager says, "it can be very difficult to grow a small size". They just have a few over priced medium trees. If you have a problem after the sale, don't expect a response. After a month, I am still waiting for a refund for double staking that was not done. Drew has told me that he would refund the amount, but that has not occurred yet. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. read more

These guys are total rip-offs! They charge top buck and claim to guarantee their trees but when asked to back up that guarantee, they forget your name and number. The two Japanese Privets I bought that they planted were done in the wrong direction for my needs and have never filled in. They look terrible. The two white oleanders ditto. They plant fast, that's for sure....because they don't think while they're planting and don't care what happens a week later. I have called and texted so many times and have never even gotten a return call! read more

It started out okay but went downhill after the 2nd planting of my trees. They scheduled it on one day but showed up on a completely different day then planted them in a location that I did not approve of or want because I wasn't home. They offered to come out to relocate them but I didn't want to sit at home for another 4 hour window just for them to keep digging more holes in my yard. During this planting, they broke my sprinkler pipe. I asked for them to fix it. They promised to come out. No call, no show. The leak is causing pressure problems with the rest of my backyard and now all of my grass is dying. My asking for them to fix it has fallen on deaf ears so I have to hire someone else to fix it. Total waste of time and money dealing with these people. If you are looking for trees that you don't have to pay thousands for (I paid just under $10K for 8 trees with this company), and you want to get something that blocks out your neighbors, look up "fast growing trees" on Google and select the first company that comes up (sponsored listing) with the same name in their URL. Get the "thuja green giant" trees at 5 feet. They grow REALLY FAST and are only about a hundred bucks (maybe a little more) each with free shipping most times. They start out at 5 feet and within about 18-24 months with good watering, they double in size...and they just keep getting bigger. They're really beautiful trees. (They also handle the dry weather in So Cali pretty well too.) So...this will save you on spending a grand or more per privacy tree with a company like this just to have them break your sprinklers and refuse to fix them while causing you to have to replace all of your dry grass because of their error when you can just order the trees, have them shipped to you for free, and plant them yourself...saving a bundle and a bunch of hassle in the process. read more

I was happy to find a huge selection of trees and plants. I went in after checking out their ad promotion and I have to agree with other reviewers they do have a lot of false advertisement. The trees that I was looking for was not available but ironically they did have them available in a much bigger size...which I was not interested because it did drive the price significantly. I would suggest purchasing the tree and planting it yourself because they tend to drive up the price ridiculously. read more
