Had my date palm trimmed yesterday by Gonzalez Palm and Tree services. Called for price quote and Stephan was courteous and professional. After I text him a picture of the tree, I received a quote within 10 minutes. Also said since he was working nearby he could do the job later that same day. Talked to Jose on the phone scheduled a time to come and give me an estimate. He sent his son and we agreed on a price and he wrote me an agreement for $700. They cut off a limb and it fell and did damage to my house at which point the son called his dad, Jose, and he came out and said he doesn't work for free and that if I wanted him to finish the NEW PRICE was $1500! MORE THAN DOUBLE. I said we had a written agreement for $700 and that was all I was going to pay. I tried to reason with him and asked him if he had finished the job and I told him I was only going to pay him half of what we had agreed on what would he say. He kept having to use his son as a translator and we were getting no where. He said, "We are leaving", and didn't pick anything up and even left a huge limb that they had already cut hanging in the tree 30 feet up which could fall and due damage to my fence or someone standing under the tree. I cleaned up everything he left on the ground but I still have to hire someone to come and finish the job as well as paying a contractor to have the damage done to my house repaired. I'm guessing that will be around $1200 to 1500. As far as recommending this business, proceed at your own risk. I don't think they are insured because they did not offer to have the damage repaired or give me their insurance information. That's why he wanted to charge me more to pay to fix the damage they had caused. When I have a written agreement I expect to pay that not double what we agreed on. That is why you have them come out and give you a price in writing so there are no issues later. He did not keep his word, damaged my property, and then just left. If you use ANYONE, ask if they have insurance and MAKE SURE YOU GET IT IN WRITING TO PROTECT YOURSELF. read more

They did OK service, but very dishonest business practice. I had storm damage tree branch that fell on my neighbor's driveway. I called and agreed to a price with the owner Jose. Even texted him picture of the branch. He texted me a price to cut and take branch to trash with them when done. I had to go to work, but my wife was home. When they arrive, they told my wife price was only to cut branch and leave it at our curb side for bulk trash pickup, which was probably not for another month or 2! That was not an option. If we wanted them to trash the branch, it was going to cost more. This is only one branch, not even a huge branch, which he has seen picture before giving quote. It should be noted that Gonzalez's team CLIMB the palms, so height shouldn't really be an issue, though they MAY have a restriction. My tallest palm is about 35 feet, and it wasn't an issue. I called and left a message on what I think was his voicemail. We ended up communicating via text, sending picture(s) of the palms to be trimmed, and then receiving the quote via text as well. The price was right. You get to chose what type of trimming you want, i.e. more fronds left in a more "natural" look, or carrot topped, if that's your thing. You make the call. I like 'em natural. We hired Gonzalez Tree & Palm Tree Trimming to do an annual prune on our 4 very tall Queen Palms after receiving a quote from Stephen. The communication was great and they showed up when promised. Their crew worked very efficiently, they were friendly and they took extra precautions near our pool equipment, which we really appreciated! While they were here, we hired them to do extra work by removing a small palm near the front of our home and had them clear a pathway where my neighbors trees had overgrown into our walkway. I called and talked to Jose. He came out and did an estimate for my frontyard and backyard which have total of 17 queen palm, some shrubs, and a big tree that need to be trimmed down. The estimate come out very reasonable as the whole package including mowing the grass, blowing the entire yard, and clean-up. Jose and his crew come the next day and didn't leave until everything got done at around 7:00 PM. The whole landscape looks clean and wonderfull.
