While there my son and I got popcorn, a soda, and a bottle of water. Matinee pricing isn't bad compared to bigger chain theaters. My ticket was $10 and he was $8 since he counts for child prices. The popcorn was expensive at $9 for a medium-ish size bag (even with a free refill) compared to larger buckets at other theaters and we didn't care for the flavor of the "butter". The soda was $7, which was also pricey. Unfortunately they only offer one size for both the popcorn and soda and don't give you a discount for buying both as a combo. They have other food like pizza and chicken tenders on the menu board, but no prices were listed. I know people love the leather recliners at other theaters, but the loveseats at Rosebud Cinema are preferable as far as I'm concerned. We sunk into the plush loveseat and it was far more comfortable than a hard leather recliner. Each loveseat had a decent size pillow to lean on too. It's not the most conveniently located theater based on where I live, but the decent prices and comfortable seating will probably bring me back.

It is the first movie theater in the Milwaukee area to serve alcohol. There is a variety of concessions including fresh buttered popcorn and pizza. The Rosebud is known for their plush love seats and is a fine dinner theatre. Also, check out the Avalon Atmospheric Theater and Times Cinema which is owned by the same business the Neighborhood Theater Group. They offer pizza and adult drinks. Their popcorn is actually quite good. The pizza is adequate, but it took forever to be ready. They do have on site parking, which is useful. That's how the can make a profit and support the event (makes sense). Drinks are about $6 per cup. This is my first "Jazz in the Park" and I'll definitely come better prepared next time. Besides my chair, I'll bring a book (for the wait) and snacks! There weren't really many options this time. Happy "Jazz in the Park"! Fun fact: "Jazz in the Park" has its own mascot! I didn't start going to jazz until i moved away from Cathedral Square (well, so I'm 12 blocks away now instead of 1 block,) but I still feel like this is my neighborhood gettogether (as opposed to say, chill on the hill or tosa tonight.) So in the interest of repping home base and all, I have to increase it to 5 stars. That, and really, does summer in milwaukee get any better than sitting on the grass in cathedral square with a bottle of wine (Louises will even deliver a whole pizza to your staked out spot,) or roaming the grounds with a watermelon mojito in hand? I think not. It's always better the hotter the weather gets. There's all kinds of other stuff available for purchase, from kettle corn to beer and wine to tacos to risotto! And you'll see all sorts of milwaukee and neighborhood characters here for good measure. Disclaimer: the music and performers are generally very good...but I'm just more there for the festive atmosphere. Unfortunately they had a last minute family emergency with a main cast member,but they pivoted and were able to have a cast member playing a smaller part step in and called another to help fill in for the other smaller part. They pulled it off pretty seamlessly and put on a very entertaining and funny show.Sunset Playhouse always comes through and is a true class act and asset to the community! A great idea for a wonderful night out is what the Sunset Playhouse is all about.

The WestTown River Rhythms website does provide a couple nearby parking lot options with discounts for use during the event so check that out when you're looking at the music lineup. This is another great option to enjoy music outdoors during the summer months in Milwaukee!

**July 2025: Evening Visit**…read more I was staying in Milwaukee, but saw on Instagram that that the city of Tosa was hosting a Independance Day Drone Show. Since my friend and I were staying nearby we thought we'd check it out. The Drone Show started around 9:15pmish but there was live music and community performances in the Hart Park starting 5pm (methinks). I believe we were able to park in the parking lot at 7pmish? There were many families who brought picnic blankets, coolers, chairs etc and just enjoyed being outdoors. There were a couple of food vendors available. The drone shoe was fun. They selected images that were very community centered as well as appreciation for first responders. I'm pretty confident 95% of attendance for the event were businesses and families from Tosa. Trying to exit the parking lot was kind of a nightmare, but overall I think this was a very well organized community event!

The Avalounge is located inside the Avalon Theater nestled in the heart of Bay View, right on…read moreKinnickinnic Ave. While it is inside the theater, it has a cozy atmosphere all it's own and you don't need to be going to the movies in order to stop in (though, cocktails and a movie--what's not to love?). I stopped by before a movie recently and enjoyed my experience. Me and my cocktail/movie companion enjoyed a drink in the bar and another to take into our movie. They have a few fun seasonal specialty cocktails. They were a little more on the sweeter side, so I opted for a bourbon smash. The bartender wasn't sure how to make one but was more than willing to google and attempt, which she did and the drink was great. I'd definitely stop in here pre or post movie. We were there on a Sunday evening and there was plenty of seats available. They have bar seating as well as a few tables (and a fun tucked away booth if you're in a group!). Get to it!
