MOONSHINE FLATS @ DOWNTOWN SAN DIEGO Parking in the area is mostly metered, though you might be able to find a few free street spots if you're lucky. You can also park at Ace Parking, which costs around $30-$40. Moonshine Flats is one of the most popular bars in San Diego. I went to the Pacific Beach location before and loved the vibe, so I was excited to check out the downtown spot, especially after hearing so much about it. Luckily, there wasn't a long line on a Saturday around 9 PM, so we got in easily. The space itself was great, spacious, with multiple bars, and really well-decorated. As a college student, though, this wasn't exactly my scene. The crowd seemed older, mostly in the 30-40 age range, so I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking to hang out with fellow college students. That said, Moonshine Flats is still a fun place to visit and worth checking out for the atmosphere alone.

moonshine flats - always come with my sister and I always have fun! beers are decently priced. dancers are always great to watch! i like when they have nights they teach us dances. great customer service! fun arcade and beer pong games!!! bean bag toss, pool, cup pong. dj in the other section plays r&b, pop. definitely a more chill, casual vibe :)

This place is fun! The line dancing is a good time. They go too fast though and don't teach well. Very hard to pick up the dances they do They don't have a separate area to dance so your stuck watching people line dance or trying to learn and It's hard I wish they would offer a free style area to have fun dancing at as well It was a fun time though

Best country bar in San Diego! Line dancing, live music, great staff, great drinks. The place you to be on a weekend night! I've been going for years and staff members like Hannah Bergman always make it a good time. If country music isn't your thing, the DJ takes over late at night on the weekends to keep the party going. There is something for everyone here. If you're downtown, not stopping by would be a huge mistake!

I had an amazing time when we celebrated one of our close friends' birthday at the Moonshine Flats / The Deck. It was my first time there, and I wasn't sure what to expect, but it turned out, had a blast! The menu at The Deck was quite limited, which they said was because of the Padres game. Our server was very nice. Considering she was busy, she kept that smile on. We ordered a soft pretzel, a 12-inch hotdog that was a bit dry and overcooked, and some chicken tenders. The setup was pretty cool, with backyard-style games like cornhole, shuffleboard, and ping pong. There was even a giant Pac-Man game! We got cocktails to go with our order. There was an adjoining walkway to Moonshine Flats, where the real fun begins, dance time ! There was a big wooden dance floor.. line dancing and they do tutorial. The DJs played a mix of country, rock, and pop music. The stage was pretty big, and at 10 pm, they started the live concert. It was Jordan Rainer from The Voice! You want to see the entire dance floor ? Get to the second deck. Check out moonshine flats website for the line-up on who's performing LIVE. Bar at by the dance floor as well as The Deck. The dance floor was a little slippery from the drinks that probably spilled while raising those glasses during the concert. The place is in downtown, so it's a good idea to carpool or take Uber/Lyft. If you get there before 8 pm, there's no cover charge. So if you have not been here yet, give it try. Get those dancing boots on and get ready to have FUN. ** forgot Jordan's back up singer's name , you're so awesome ,

Taking a trip to San Diego and considering visiting this bar. Is it strictly line dancing or is country swing/ partner 2 step welcomed?

When I've been here there is more line dancing than not, mostly due to the crowds. I have been able to do some partner dances, usually before it gets too busy. If you're coming on the weekend and want to partner dance, I'd get here early!

    Is it 18+?

It is 21+. But the restaurant/bar connect to Moonshine Flatts, The Moonshine Deck, is under 21 until around 9pm! That is where all the fun is and the roof opens! All kinds of fun games and good food with great mocktails! One of our favorites.

As you enter this old law office down a staircase one would find the "speakeasy statutes/rules" to maintain the 1920s atmosphere-- we loved the setting, the people, the drinks, and of course the live music!! One would not be disappointed. The cocktail menu was on an old record, which I thought it was so clever. Back to the rules, seems pretty easy! They mention to keep an open mind with the drinks as they do not carry vodkas, redbull, Budweiser or bulls**t. Mentioned a dresscode, more so be classic and states be respectful and don't be a di*k. I couldn't agree more with the rules. I don't think there is good at this establishment, as our group just came from dinner I wasn't looking for food. Just spirits, live music and a good time. Highly recommend if you are looking for live music and uniquely crafted cocktails.

Multiple bystanders witnessed his behavior but failed to intervene, assuming it was just "relationship drama" After the man finally left, the venue's security completely misread the situation. Instead of checking on my well-being or ensuring the aggressor had left the premises, security targeted and chased me as if I were the problem. It is incredibly disappointing and dangerous for a business's security team to lack the basic situational awareness and training required to identify the actual victim in a situation. I felt entirely unprotected by the staff here. I hope management takes this as a serious sign that their security team needs immediate retraining on bystander intervention and de-escalation, rather than harassing women who are already in vulnerable situations.

On 01/03/26 I came up to the front entrance and I was either reciting a song or going over my own lyrics as I am a poet. I explained that I wasn't "talking to myself" I was reciting music (my own or somebody else's , as I often do karaoke). He said "Ok. I'm still not letting you in." with an attitude. What the hell? Never once have I caused an issue at this bar. All the security guards know me. I've never seen this guy before in my life so I guess he thought he could bully me for no reason. What a shame. To top it all off when I got irritated with him he laughed in my face and loudly yelled "Weirdo!!" at me in front of multiple witnesses. This is disgusting behavior and incredibly unprofessional. I've been to The Tipsy Crow countless times and never been so insulted and mistreated. I don't know the guard's name but is a short dude, I believe hispanic. I will find out his name and report this to the manager. This was beyond unacceptable. He continued to sneer and laugh at me while i was outside in shock at being turned away. What a jerk.

There were people there much older than us as well as people barely old enough to be in a bar. The pianist (s) were hard at work a the drummer was rocking out too. We sat down. Let me tell you, that was the most fun we have had in a long time! All three musicians played multiple instruments, piano, harmonica, sax, and drums. The songs were everything from Slim Shady to Elton John and everything in between. Slips of paper were placed on the piano, a nod was given and off they went. The crowd sang along and we all laughed! The I then get grabbed by my arm with force VERY AGGRESSIVELY by a man yelling at me saying I am done, I'm out, etc. I have to hold on to a wall to get myself not to get dragged by this man. My friends come in to help sooth the situation, but no matter what they say the security guard is yelling at them, at me, and continues to pull on me along with other security staff. I did not know that man who had pushed me was security and once I realized it was, I immediately apologized by saying OMG I didn't know you were security, I just thought it was a random guy pushing people! Keep in mind, I am a 4'11'' woman, in heels, a little tipsy, so when I got shoved over (for whatever reason) it made me lose all of my balance and I believe there was absolutely no need for all of that aggression. Anything my friends said or I said did not matter. They wanted me out. Once I was outside this security guard just kept talking down to me and laughing at me.
