An interesting little stop after spending a few days in the hills. This town is more of like a block of a few buildings, including a "mall," an icecream stop, a community center, and this bar. To our surprise, the pub was PACKED. There was live music (country folk), which is likely what drew the crowd. Every table was full but we were still greeted by a server and invited to stand until we could seat ourselves, which eventually happened. Our group ordered a few beers and the sample platter: fries, onion rings, cheese curds, and Jalepeño poppers. The fries were underwhelming, but everything else was delicious. Four of us came in for dinner and drinks. There was a man and a woman at the bar, and a cook in the kitchen. They completely ignored us for 15 mins, so we left. There were only 2 other customers there. This is a tiny place so we dont know if they hate bikers or what. NOT BIKER FRIENDLY IF YOU ARE GOING TO STURGIS. Service was superb, l love these hole in the wall bars and grills.. Inside was very original. I had a burger and fries for lunch, I would rate the burger a three on a scale of one to ten. I would have given it a ten if it had onions , lettuce and tomatoes. Burger had a good flavor, had only pickles, if the owners would bump up the works they would have a great burger. It appeared that the hotdog was the way Togo as that is what the regulars seemed to be ordering. Beer was cold. read more

OK folks. This is a classic place but Betsy has had some health problems and may not be there much longer. Last time I visited in 2020, he and her Son's opened for limited hours and the boys where pretty much holding the fort down. Have patience, be kind. We're nearing the end of an era. read more

Old lady owner is not a nice person...I'm a 20yr vet with disabilities and require a service dog...stopped in to wash face from four wheeling and grab a drink for everyone in my party of 8...and was kicked out...all due to my service dog, who wasn't doing anything wrong...literally went in for less than 5 seconds...old lady yelled at me to leave dog outside...I informed her, he was a service dog and she said "I don't fucking care"...I did quick about face and left...I told some others in nearby towns and was told..."yeah she is a bitch"...don't spend your money where a vet nor anyone else is treated with some dignity...avoid like COVID! read more

I almost feel bad putting this place on the internet "map." It's so cool, I want to keep it for myself for fear too many tourists will visit it. This place brings new meaning to "dive"...even for me. My family were the online non-locals in the bar and boy did we stand out. We walked in the bar to an amazing bluegrass band playing. The bar was packed yet the owner still went out of her way to pull in a table and chairs from the patio so we could sit while watching the band. Great beer; so-so food, but nonetheless one of the best vacation experiences I've ever had. read more

One of my favorite bar's in the Black Hills! Great local jam at 3 on Sunday afternoons. Friendly crowd at a bar over 100 years old in a beautiful quiet corner of South Dakota. The owner, Betsy sells beer at a very reasonable price. During the summer you can sit on the porch outside, visit with friends and listen to local musicans. read more
