The staff is great. Hailey was awesome! Fun system to pour your own beer. Unfortunately the wine is all dry. No sweet options at all. Hot dogs were great! We really enjoyed our dinner and drinks at the Prairie Dog Taproom. The enthusiastic co-owner Mike proudly showed us around the place and we sat outside in the shade by the creek enjoying the local beer. For dinner we all split a hot dog, cheeseburger and 2 pizzas. We stumbled on this gem from a flyer in our air bnb to hear some music, have some food and a drink after a long day of hiking in the Badlands. What a gem. Found this place on my way to Custer. This will be a must stop for us in the future. Great food, many excellent beer/cider on tap. Owner essentially yelled at one of our friends about how to pour the beer, which is essentially the premise for the place, and instead of dealing with this discretion by itself involved our entire table. We spent a lot of money and now have lost us as customers due to one tiny little problem that the owner should have delt with in a better way. Terrible customer service on the owners part. read more

This was like a 3.5 for us. It was pretty empty when we got there, and the lady was really helpful to show us how to use the beer taps and order. We ordered on the app and waited. They do have a lot of activities to do while waiting from board games to card games to yard games, that was nice. The food took forever, but I expected that when I ordered a pizza. The pizza and the tots were delicious! However, the hot dog was cold and very underwhelming. For a place called Prairie Dog, I expected some creative and impressive hot dogs. This food truck was our amazing find after doing the Black Elk trailhead hike. We had two delicious Bison hot dogs to fuel us back up. Tried the Settler's claim and Tatanka Dog. Both were amazing. I would say the Tatanka dog is a little more refreshing because of the fresh coleslaw and the Settler's claim is heavy on the sauerkraut if you are a fan. The sauerkraut is so tasty- they add a nice garlicky touch to it. The service is outstanding and I appreciated how kind the staff was with making sure we enjoyed out food and the texting order delivery system. We loved the Tatonka Dogs and General Custer Cheesesteak so much, we showed up 4 hours later to have their Pioneer and their Mischief Miner dogs.
