Hailey (spelling?) was wonderful, just as other reviews mention. I am not a wine connoisseur and she helped me throughout my tasting, which I chose to do 4, only 10$ which is totally fair. The only kinda weird thing is it's not a flight so you have to actually come back to the counter and get more which interrupted my girl conversation outside! No biggie but would be nice to have all 4 at once as I like to kinda taste between them. Either way, I liked 3/4 of the wines and I went home with a bottle of the red rose whatever that was haha. The inside of the shop itself is absolutely adorable, cozy, and welcoming. Super close to Trinidad head where you can see gorgeous views. Great place and I recommend! read more

I am unabashedly a fan of this business, both for the quality of their products as well as their people. I had plans to spend the holidays with the family in the Bay Area so I had to "stock up" with Humboldt products, particularly Dick Taylor chocolates and Moonstone Crossing wine. I was blessed to have Hayley on duty when I visited. As usual, she listened to what my planned event was and suggested some excellent choices. I was surprised to see that she had her "own" blend...HAYLEY'S COMET. I cracked up when I saw that she had modified the logo to feature her dog! I wound up purchasing several of her own blend as well as an assortment of other reds. As usual, the family loved the wine, especially Hayley's product. We were traveling in No. CA hiking through redwoods. After coming back from a hike we stumbled upon the Moonstone Crossing Winery tasting room in Trinidad, CA. I had seen their wines in the natural food markets and a couple of restaurants we visited and decided to give them a try. I can say with absolute honesty and without a doubt that Moonstone Winery wines have some of the best wines I have ever tasted. The amazing thing about this winery is the make almost every varietal and with minimum sulfites and preservatives. The Asst Winemaker, Hallie, was pouring that day and what a knowledgeable person she was and so personable. We ended up buying a case of wine consisting of Chardonnay, Cab Franc, Syrah, Cabernet, Petite Verdot and Pinotage. You read that correctly, Pinotage. A South African varietal. Go on YouTube to learn how this winery came to be and then contact them and order some damn good wines at affordable prices. read more

Lovely place to stop for wine tasting, although the amount given as very small even for tasting! so we bought some to take away and we're able to sample more at the restaurant opposite. The Lady doing the tastings was nice and friendly and the local crew lounging around drinking were fun to talk to! read more

The assortment of Wines to taste was impressive. My wife and I tasted 8 different wines. Poured into a nice wine glass. Unfortunately the poured amount was so small (less than an ounce) it was hard to get a aroma or decent taste. I guess $10 for 4 samples doesn't buy you much. Metamorphosis was our favorite. Bought 2 bottles. Hailey was fantastic and knows her wines and is great to talk to. Visit the beautiful beach then walk up the hill to this homey spot for wine. The owner was pleasant and informative about the wines she had available to taste. You can sample two wines for $5 and that goes towards the wine if you purchase a bottle. I ended up with six after a couple samples. The Sauvignon blanc was a favorite, so light, refreshing and crispy which is perfect for summer weather. Small tasting room with a big selection of wines to taste. I tried 6 different wines for $15 and they all tasted wonderful. I, however, am not a wine connoisseur by any means. I just enjoy a good tasting for a decent price. The woman who was working was the owner I believe and she was so friendly and welcoming. She gave us lots of advice about wedding venues in the area after we asked. If you're in Trinidad and like wine, definitely stop by for a tasting or a glass. We walked in after a wonderful breakfast at the Trinidad Bay Eatery, after the wonderful servers recommended us to go. We could not have been more pleased. Hailey was such a kind and knowledgeable host, as we were lucky enough to be the only people there at that time. She walked us through so many wines, and a great conversation about her neighborhood and the qualities that they entail. Every wine we tried was incredible, and we walked out as advocates for their wines based on their quality and her service. If you're in Trinidad and like wine, just go here. Lucky for us, this tasting room stays open until 6PM on Sundays. We'd finished our last hike for the weekend. Before heading home several hours of driving away, we were able to indulge ourselves and stop by this tasting room to try the extensive varietals that they have. The winemaker obviously has a passion for the wines that he makes: It shows in the quality of his product! He finds his grapes from different vineyards around California. So, you'll find wines crafted from grapes grown in Mendocino, Amador, Alexander Valley, and other familiar places. I enjoyed many of the wines that they had, but I especially liked the Bordeaux red blend and the Tuscan red blend. They also have 2 ports: a lighter version and a "full flavored" version made of a blend of petit syrah and zinfandel. The tasting room is sort of "inset" in the middle of the block. We saw a sign attached to the windshield of a car parked in the street. A useful landmark is the Trinidad Bay Eatery, a restaurant located across the street from the tasting room. [The tasting room charges a small fee for tasting a flight of their wines, but if you buy a bottle per person, they'll waive it.] read more

I cannot believe the quality of wine coming out of this little place in Trinidad, California. They source their grapes from all over, and do their wine old country style. Had no intention of buying wine, just wanted to do a tasting with the company I had in town, and walked out with more than a case each. The little picnic snack basket was a great add-on to cleanse our palates as we sat and tasted. Haley, the tasting room Director was so knowledgeable, articulate, friendly, and intuitive about our every need. In town for a brief visit and decided to walk down the water when we noticed Moonstone Crossing Winery offering tastings. Decided to stop in since they had a cozy outdoor yard area for sitting. We were so glad that we did. The lady that was working (Saturday 1/22) was so warm and welcoming to us, and everyone that came inside. Every guest got the same energy and engagement. You're able to do wine tastings outside- you get the wine inside and then go outside to drink it. Every wine I tried was delicious. The tastings are inexpensive and the wine is affordably priced as well. Together we bought 4 bottles after the tasting. read more

Don does an amazing job at creating spectacular wines. He travels to collaborate with other wine makers and selects grapes from various regions for his wines. I'm not a white wine drinker but his Malvasia is amazing! The merlot and caragnese were my favorite reds. The white port was way too sweet for my taste. I prefer tawny port. We've been to Trinidad many times but never stopped in. We will make this a regular stop. This place is a must when visiting Trinidad. read more

Came here after spending the day at Trinidad state beach and Patrick's point. Me and the GF saw there was a wine tasting room and thought it might be fun to get a glass before returning back to our air bnb. WE ARE SO HAPPY WE DID. This little tasting room is freaking awesome, walked in on a 1 year olds bday party and was immediately offered chocolate cake before we even had a glass. The ambience is laid back and the women that was running the show behind the bar was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the wine they made/served. We ended up tasting like 8 different wines, had a couple glasses and bought two bottles. Who would have thought you'd find a winery smack-dabb in the middle of Trinidad? Visiting Moonstone Crossing's Winery Tasting Room was a lot of fun! This small, cozy & welcoming tasting room left me with some of the most enjoyable memories on my Humboldt trip. My mom, brother & I stopped in for a tasting on a Sunday afternoon. I am a wine drinker, and love my reds. This was a very good deal and I was able to try many reds of my interest. My favorite was the Gold Medal winning 2007 Wish Upon a Star, which was a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon & Aglianico. I also enjoyed the 2005 Zinfandel Port, which won a Silver Medal. We ended up buying a bottle of the Zin Port to take home. The red wines were superb - smooth, full-bodied to my preference, and memorable. While most of their grapes are grown south of Humboldt County (in Mendocino County, Alexander Valley..) its great to have the wine tasting experience while in Trinidad. I extremely enjoyed myself, and would highly recommend others wine drinkers to stop by for a tasting or to purchase a few bottles! read more

The weather out is horrific. Cold, rainy and stormy, it's best to stay in and batten down the hatches and write Yelp reviews. Moonstone Crossing will be my latest victim. By the way, I know someone with the middle name of "Moonbeam". I know this adds nothing relevant to my review, but thought I would share. I recently had the chance to sample this wine in of all places Scottsdale, Arizona. How on earth does a wine from tiny Trinidad, California make it's way to Arizona? I don't even know where Trinidad is, but after tasting a bottle I need to find out and get my butt down there! I had the chance to taste from two wines from this winery. Wine number 1 was a 2006 pinotage. This wine was a medium-bodied with nice finish. I thought it may have been a little more fruit forward for my taste, but I know plenty of people who prefer a wine in this style and this would make for a nice bottle to take to someones home. Wine number 2 was the winner. A 2005 cabernet franc which was huge! Big bold, inky in color, this wine is no lightweight. This bottle was made in true French style and can stand up to the most hearty of wintery dishes. Think Beef Bourguignon. I'm no wine expert, but I do think this wine could be held a few more years and it would even be better. Moonstone Crossing, I am on a mission. I must locate Trinidad and find your tasting room. You have won me over. read more
