I hired Jerry and his crew to put solar on my home. Luckily I got this done before summer arrived in earnest. The system is performing at or above what they said it would. Jerry and Veronica made the whole thing easy, handled everything including coordinating with my roofer (our roof was old so we did that at the same time). My system was big. I got quotes and Moore Solar was not the highest quote and they were not the lowest quote but I liked Jerry and felt he would take responsibility for the project from beginning to end, and he did not disappoint. I wanted to like this company as they are a small business, and they were recommended by my neighbor who worked for them at the time. However, after purchasing 18 panels I never was able to receive the promised amount of solar energy. In fact, I received error messages on my inverter and the company came out a couple times to make repairs (after numerous phone calls) but after a while they stopped returning my phone calls. I had given up on solar, thinking that it was just not as good as everyone said it was. Luckily, I found a company (El-fi Solar) that spent months helping me remedy my situation. They had to keep trouble shooting over and over and discovered that a row of the panels were resting on the wires and causing error messages and that one of the panels stopped working. After 8 years, I am excited to finally have solar panels that are working the way they should have been all along. read more

My great roofer recommended Moore Solar so I had Veronica come by to give me an estimate. She took some measurements and had her staff do a load calculation to help establish what size system I needed. She was extraordinarily detailed and patient in explaining the marathon-like process in obtaining a solar system, the rebates, and what the numbers meant. A week later I received her estimate for a 6.75KW system. My total cost to purchase was 7k after the LADWP rebate and federal tax credits. This reduced my electrical rate to $0.03/KWh. I had gotten an estimate from Solar City which was 15k to purchase and an average rate of $0.054/KWh. On paper it was a no brainer. I signed the contract and they worked with me over the next couple of months to get the mounts/inverter installed, helping me choose which solar panel, the LADWP inspection, and finally my rebate check. Yes - this company is one of the best. I contacted several solar leasing companies and several solar installation companies and compared them all. Moore Solar has a fantastic team. They: 1) Took time to understand my needs 2) Worked with me on the specs, construction preferences etc (I'm an engineer who definitely has strong opinions on how to do things the right way) 3) Provided a very competitive price (beat out every other installer and still offered equipment with the longest running, best rated warranties including 25 yr performance guarantees on the panels) 4) Did a great job with the installation and prep work - completing the work in under two weeks for a very large system 5) Stayed on top of DWP to minimize inspection delays and the like. I have recommended them to many of my friends - and incidentally -2014 is the year to get this done. Panel prices have dropped dramatically and utility companies are rethinking rebates (ending them). I financed my system with a HELOC and paying less per month than I paid DWP in monthly electrical bills -- and in 10 years, I'll be paying nothing - free electricity for close to 20 years! read more

I am a 79 year old retired senior citizen. I had high electrical bills. I decided to contact Moore Solar and Green Construction to install solar panels/ solar system. Following the installation of the solar system multiple cracks in the ceiling were found in various rooms. I contacted Moore Solar and Green Construction to report my findings. I talked to Veronica, the company's representative, about the findings. Veronica stated she would send Jerry out to assess the damages. Jerry did come out to assess the damages and admitted he had no one to repair the damages. Jerry stated that they (Moore Solar and Green Construction) would have to get someone out to repair the damages. However, they never sent anyone out to repair the damages. I then contacted Veronica again; she said that she would come and assess the damages, but she sent Jerry out again. On October 10th, 2017 Jerry said to me that they would have to file an insurance claim so that they could get someone to repair the damages. I waited approximately 3 weeks to hear from Veronica and did not receive any response. In November 2017, I emailed Veronica and as of today, March 23 2018, she has not responded. Apparently, Moore Solar and Green Construction is refusing to take responsibility for the damages they caused to my ceiling. Cass S. read more

We had several Solar installers give us quotes before going with Moore Solar. They were the most friendly and genuine people and explained everything at the level of detail I needed. The system they designed took into consideration our power use,the roof, shading, the seasons, etc. Moore Solar did all the paperwork with the power company and the city inspectors so that it all went smoothly. The installation was carried out efficiently and the computer interface shows us how much power we're making by the moment, day, week, month etc. It's fun to see that we can run the air conditioner and still be making more power than we're using. The rebate came from the power company as expected and all inspections were passed the first time. Moore Solar was a pleasure to do business and I've referred several friends because I trust them completely. It's been 11 months since the panels have been up and we've already produced more than we used for the entire prior year. Moore Solar is a wonderful company to work with! Veronica and Jerry run the business with intelligence and professionalism. We had them install a 10+ KWH residential system, plus they moved and upgraded our electric panel and ran a line to our garage for a future electric car charging station. The system was priced competitively with high-grade components. So far the system's production appears to be on target and may end up exceeding the estimates. This project was a steep learning curve for us, and they patiently explained every aspect of the process and ran multiple quotes for us as we figured out what we wanted. The installation team, which included Jerry's son, was focused, hardworking and professional. Our installation occurred during one of the hottest weeks in 2014, when temperatures were up to 105 to 107 degrees each day. In spite of the terrible heat, they finished the project on time. An example of their excellent service - one day, our AC quit working after the team went home (it had nothing to do with the solar installation, but we didn't know). We called Jerry and he called Justin to come back (he was nearly home). He quickly ascertained it was a special fuse that blew - again, nothing to do with their work at all. But we knew we would never get anyone out to fix it in 105 degree weather. . . . at 6 pm. With two very elderly, ill pets, we couldn't tough it out. So we asked Justin, would he help us? Even after having worked a very long, hot day, he agreed. He helped my husband get the correct fuse and they plugged it in while I sat inside with wet towels on our fur kids. He didn't leave until the AC was running again. It was a simple fix but we would never have figured it out and how kind he was to help us out. And another example - when the LADWP, who seems intent on discouraging people from going solar, somehow misplaced our paperwork and failed to come out for months to check the system and tie it into the grid, it was Moore Solar who managed to get the Kafkaesque bureaucracy to finally do their part. Regretfully, I have to give this company one star since they have failed to follow-up with installing solar. There was a site visit by a sales rep and technician. Both appeared to know what they were talking about. The technician did a good job taking measurements and gathering data. During the consultation, I informed them that wanted to move forward but I wanted to see a final proposal since we had made some adjust to the use of equipment and panel addition, which was going to increase cost. The sales rep said she would get me the final proposal. It's been two weeks since the site and I have not heard anything from this company. What a disappointment. read more

I wanted to hire a smaller company to install a solar system and chose Moore and some research. While I have had no issues with the installation thus far and the installation crew was great, the service from their office was terrible from start to finish (specifically, Veronica). The panels and inverters were to be delivered a few days prior to installation, but for some reason, they were delivered 2 weeks prior. They would not take them to the backyard and left them in the driveway, where I was forced to move them myself. I was told that Jerry would be the onsite supervisor for my project, but in reality, he was only there for the city inspections and final electrical connection. I had some questions during and after the project, which were unanswered (some were answered only after I followed up repeatedly and when answered, Veronica was extremely rude and abrupt. We had a 6 KW photovoltaic system installed by Moore Solar in 2011 and couldn't be happier both with the system and with Moore. We had solicited bids from several different companies, both leasing and buying. Then we chanced upon an article about solar installation in Los Angeles by Moore Solar, so we invited them to do a bid almost as an afterthought. Lucky for us! When Veronica and Jerry came to our house for the initial exploration, we were pleasantly surprised with their sincerity and real passion for their business. After evaluating the various bids and conversations across companies, it really was a no-brainer to go with them: they had the best overall price for the entire system and their down-to-earth manner inspired a good chunk of trust. We were happy that our decision turned out to be the right one. Within a few weeks after signing the contract, our system was installed, inspected, and had its permission to operate. In the time leading up to the installation, Veronica and Jerry were extremely patient with our never-ending questions. We're not the easiest customers, asking many questions, details, and clarifications along the way and expecting answers quickly. Veronica patiently answered each question about the various rebates, clarified all procedures we could expect with SoCal Edison, walked us through the paperwork at each turn, and confirmed various admin questions as they arose. Meanwhile, we kept harassing Jerry with changes to our configuration right up to the very day of installation, and he was a dream to work with throughout it all. In the weekend before installation, we exchanged about a dozen different sketches, back and forth via e-mail - he'd scan a rooftop configuration sketch, e-mail it for us for review, we'd make some changes, e-mail the revised picture back to him, he'd rework it and send the new version, etc. etc. all just minutes apart. That's a level of engagement and individual customer attention that you rarely encounter these days, and it really made us feel at ease going into the ultimate installation. As the installation was underway, Jerry made helpful and sensible suggestions which may have cost them a little more time to do our install, but it made it an even better product without raising the price, which further showed their commitment to delivering quality work and the pride they take in the work they do. Now that the system has been operational for a few months, we're thrilled that it is actually performing above expectation and has virtually eradicated our entire electrical bill even though it is mid-winter, with the sun at a low angle and the shortest hours of daylight of the year. We can't wait until summer when the system output should increase significantly. As a matter of fact, we're so pleased with our system that we're exploring replacing one of our cars with an electric vehicle so that we can fully utilize the full output from our system and further reduce our carbon footprint! Our SCE rebate came in as estimated by Veronica in the beginning, and we're looking forward to receiving our tax rebate in 2 months as well. It's a great feeling watching that electric company meter running backwards! All in all, we've been very pleased with the integrity, quality, timeliness, and performance of our PV installation and of Veronica and Jerry at Moore Solar, and we would wholeheartedly encourage anyone else to do their PV install via this company. We've already recommended them to all our friends and wanted to get the word out on the Web as well! I have been very interested in Solar even long before I owned a home and so once I bought a house getting solar on the roof was on the list of, "must do's" Having been a contractor I have had the occasion to see the work of many different professionals some good and some bad. Over the years I have worked with Jerry Moore as a contactor and as well have seen a number of his solar installations and there work is constantly top quality. So it was a no brainer for me when I was finally ready to install the system. Jerry and Veronica came over and gave us recommendations on how best to go about the project. Prior to the solar going up, our roof had to be re-done, Jerry and his team worked with our roofer to get the roofing jacks installed, (the stands that are bolted to the roof and hold the system up). There by ensuring that the warrantee on the roof wasn't compromised. Veronica and the girls in the office are the masters of the permitting and rebates line. They took care of all the paper work and as well recommended a finance guy who had a special low interest energy efficiency home improvement loan. That made the financing of the project very easy. My loan payments are less than my previous electrical bill. The system is projected to pay for its self in three years of savings and then is guaranteed to last 25 years at the end of which I will have saved and estimated 250,000 dollars that is of course an estimate. There are a few things that I would recommend when researching a solar company. A. don't get the leased system if you can possibly help it while it is a better deal than paying the utility company the solar company is going to make a whole lot of money off of your roof that you could be making. B, go with a company that does their own estimates and stands behind their work without BS. Some of the large companies have teams of sales people out in the field selling the systems who really don't have a clue about what they are doing. They sell the system and then the real guy comes out to see if they can do the job for real. When Moore Solar and Green Construction gave me a bid they had done the work on the bid themselves and had done a fair amount of the engineering before the contract was even signed. I was very confident that I was getting the best system and set up for the money. I highly recommend Moore Solar and Green construction. This review is long overdue. It's been 2 1/2 years since Moore installed a 19 panel with microinverters system on our Spanish tile roof. Navigating a solar installation is not an easy task. The wide range of options, along with the utility and government paperwork make for a large can of worms. Thankfully, we chose Moore over Solar City and other major "lease sellers." Veronica and Jerry were on top of every complicated situation that came up. Working with J and J Roofing, they completed the job on time and budget. They also installed a new main panel to replace our old overloaded one. They dealt with the SCEdison and city bureaucratic mazes, delivering exactly what they promised. No leaks, zero maintenance, and the system has generated 111% of the estimated energy production (and blends in as much as possible). SCE has sent us a check for several hundred dollars for the last two years for our excess production. Veronica, Jerry and their crew are great people to have around, too! read more
