Walked in on a Saturday morning that was also a holiday. We were told that the wait time was ~40 minutes but it was ~25-30 minutes. We waited in the indoor area that is connected to a cute store. The walls had graffiti. The waiting area had billiard table, playing cards, other merchandise like t-shirts and some other vintage items. The Moore Street Big Breakfast lives up to its name. It was indeed big: 3 eggs, sausage, bacon, hash browns and grits. It comes with your choice of 2 pancakes, toast, biscuit, or English muffin. The veggie omelet was also very nice. A friend and I stopped by one morning for a quick lunch, and the cafe was packed! There was a 20 minute for a table, so we opted to eat at the bar in the back. The wait staff were nice and checked in with us throughout service. They were busy, and we did have to ask again for a couple things we asked for when we ordered. Seeing as they were busy, it was understandable. The parking can be difficult to find, but it's not too bad on most days. I ordered a swiss mushroom burger with onion rings on the side, a coke and a mexican mule. I liked the burger, especially the onion rings! I would probably ask for the mushrooms to be a little bit more caramelized though. Serving size was filling and the drink was perfectly strong. They have an extensive menu, and I would love to come back to try more dishes! The cafe decor is retro, and it makes the restaurant feel nostalgic. Glad we made it to this seemingly iconic weekend breakfast spot. Weren't aware of its popularity, so we were a bit surprised by the one hour wait estimate. But they've got a system... stroll nextdoor to their indoor waiting area complete with drinks, vintage shops, pool, foosball. Once you are seated service is attentive and meals are speedy. Phenomenal food and service! I love cute retro diners, and this place is just that. The prices are reasonable at a time when everything feels so expensive, and the portions are very generous. For a Friday morning it was pretty busy (about a 20 minute wait), but once we were seated the food came out quickly and was hot and fresh. The breakfast club sandwich is a winner. This diner is really good and tasty! I ordered the French toast and the Philly. It was quite flavorful! The service wasn't the best, however they were busy. My Philly was cold when they brought it and due to delayed response, they took it off the bill because they could not recook it since the waitress said the kitchen was closed. Wife and I have tried several times to come here but were always faced with daunting lines. This time I met friends and we got there 30 minutes after opening, with only a short wait. Terrific breakfast. Fluffy pancakes that didn't really even need butter.... housemade hash that was truly excellent -- most hash has some funk about it, either from a can or from the way the beef was corned. This was robust without being overly strong and was primarily the meat and some shredded potatoes, no extraneous anything. Perfect. And my eggs were cooked perfectly, When I asked for hot sauce, a regular at my table intervened and suggested the house made hot sauce. This too was a welcome surprise.... Flavorful with some heat but not inappropriate for a breakfast condiment. Coffee and water were kept filled, the service was involved without being omni-present. Here's the good the bad and the ugly! There's a wait which is to be expected with such good ratings. The hostess was a friendly guy who made small talk, and ai immediately felt welcomed. A huge plus since it's a bit chilly was the indoor waiting area. They had shops and coffee fixings just in case you decide you need to kill time! I mentioned the coffee fixings? Well the outdoor bar is definitely a plus as well. The true wait wasn't even that long so something else good. I get to my seat though and the wait to be acknowledged was as long as my wait to be seated. Okay I am chill. I order, but the wait for my food is even longer than the wait to be seated, greeted, and order taken. Sigh I don't want to live up to my name Karen (asking for a manger). The last two things were such a turn off-- the waitress asked if I wanted my food to go because it was in a to go container. I hated that! I don't even like my drinks in a styrofoam cup- (which it's in because I ordered from the bar). The people who ordered after me got their food first. Geesh I just can't win! And I traveled an hour to this spot. The food finally arrived and it's cold!! Extremely. So taking it to go after all. The service was exceptional though. The food tastes amazing even cold. Had a great experience at Moore Street Café! Despite being known for their pitcher mimosas and breakfast we stopped by for lunch and as always got to enjoy the old school diner vibe. A tight little spot with a wait but so worth it. We were told it was a 30 to 40 minute wait, but it only took about 20 minutes. The staff is amazing. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and our waitress Addy was absolutely a doll! I got a BLT and pancakes and was happy with my choices. You got to pick the bread and I chose Texas toast and it was so good. Lightly toasted with the perfect amount of mayonnaise. The bacon was cooked to perfection and the tomato and lettuce were fresh. The pancakes? Delightful. You only need two, but four come in the stack. You can order one pancake for $2, or the stack for $8. The prices are very budget friendly and you will get your belly full for less than $20. Don't sleep on the Moore-Mosa. Absolutely loved this spot! I got the ham and cheese mixed into eggs with a side of hash browns, biscuit, and bacon and everything was perfect. The eggs were cooked just right, with those little square ham pieces that are honestly the best. The biscuit was incredibly buttery and soft, one of the best I've had at a diner. My boyfriend and I also shared the French toast, and it was perfectly sweet and delicious. The place itself is big with tons of seating, and it definitely gives classic diner vibes. Had a great breakfast here on a rainy Saturday morning. We got on the list and got there around 10:00. Parking can be a bit of a challenge. We were seated and our waitress was right with us. Ordered coffee and took a couple of minutes to review menu. I got the eggs with sausage. It came with hash browns and I chose two pancakes. My wife got the corned beef hash and eggs with biscuit and gravy. Both our eggs were cooked perfectly. I loved the hash browns and pancakes. My wife enjoyed her finely ground hash. Stopped by here on a trip home to Atlanta. As far as breakfast goes, it's up there with best home style breakfast Restaraunt. I would compare it to a Waffle House as far as taste. I've been a Moore Street Cafe fan for a long time now, but today was actually the first day I ever went for lunch! I actually went for breakfast, but didn't realize that they didn't serve breakfast after 11 a.m. on weekdays, so we ended up getting lunch. For me, I got the West Coast Rueben (with turkey instead of corned beef) with onion rings. Mom got the chicken tenders with vegetable of the day (lima beans). While tasty, I'm accustomed to Ruebens being pretty substantial, with meat and cole slaw piled on. This one was pretty thin with very little of either. That takes the rating down at least a half star, but I'll round up since Moore Street is otherwise consistent. Onion rings were standard. My mom's chicken fingers were good--cooked just to the right temperature with lots of white meat and not over-breaded. She liked the lima beans, too. Nick always greets us with a smile, knows me by name, and even calls my mom, "Mom." Terrific service. Parking is hit or miss in Scott's Addition (but I almost always seem to find a spot right in front). If you have the option, walk, drive a compact car, or Uber/Lyft. read more

While staying the Scott's Addition area for the night I came here the next morning for breakfast. It was a weekday morning and that place was quite busy! I sat at the counter, overlooking their open kitchen. Service was friendly and with a smile. Menu is interesting and has all the southern favs, including homemade corned beef hash, which I had to try. It was done in the "Hormel" style, but was so much better! I also tried their sausage gravy to go over the biscuit that came with my breakfast plate. The sausage gravy was thick and stiff, almost like it had been sitting or re-heated. The flavor was pretty good though. The biscuit was microwaved to be heated, not very appealing. Overall, I still really enjoyed the meal and would return. read more

Came here on a Monday morning to see if it lived up to the rave reviews we saw online. This little cafe in Scotts Addition was everything you want in a diner. Eclectic decor, casual welcoming vibes and friendly faces. We didn't get much of a variety of food, however the egg and cheese biscuits were quite tasty and very filling. The chicken and cheese biscuit was massive and yet the chicken was juicy and delicious. The hash browns weren't the best, a little undercooked and a little too much cheese. But the tater tots on the other hand.. nice and crispy. Lucked out visiting yesterday just before 9 AM. There were certainly many tables taken, but we were seated quickly towards the back room, and our server was the best. She was super friendly, explained the special of the day (catfish!), and got us our coffee within seconds. She helped with some menu questions and got our order in and I kid you not, our meals came out in about 60 seconds. We were floored. She said it was just great timing for our arrival time. I opted for the corn beef hash, 2 eggs with two pancakes as my bread option, and everything was super delicious. They offer up a homemade hot sauce that wasn't overbearing. Moore Street Cafe is one of Richmond's top spots for good breakfast grub. I always get my order for takeout and have never dined in. I love the fact that you can order online. They have well-priced food and drinks (including one of my personal faves, pineapple mimosas). Today I opted for two over hard eggs, sausage, hash browns, corned beef hash, French toast, and an a la carte pancake. Their pancakes are some of the best in RVA but they can be inconsistent sometimes, but that's what you get with homemade grub. This one was a little darker than I prefer but nothing that some melted butter couldn't fix (which was missing from my pancake this time but luckily I had some at home). I also looove their breakfast club but already had more than enough food, so I'll save that for another visit. Service is typically efficient and friendly, but on more than one occasion, I've had the person at the window walk away when it's my turn. I understand that they have other things to do, but it seemingly only happens when they get to me (not to the patrons ahead of me), and it's annoying because all they have to do is pass me my bag which is always sitting right there within eyeshot. read more

We stopped in and dined after the Ukrop 10K. We thought it would be the perfect place to carb load after the 6 miler. I am not a local so I always take the direction of the locals when it comes to places like this. The locals reviews were stunning. We arrived at the cafe and put our name on the list. It was a cute vibe, like a retro diner. There was also a to-go window you could order at if you just wanted to pick up. We anticipated a wait for our party of 5. The wait process was super efficient. You add your name, they send you a text, and then you can track your progress via the link sent to you. We got seated about 45 minutes after arriving, our server came to us fairly quickly after being seated and was attentive, and knowledgable about the menu. I love pancakes, I travel all over and try different pancakes. So, when they said the best pancakes in Richmond I thought I was in for a treat. When I got them they were flat, cold, and there was nothing special about the batter. I also ordered salmon cakes (which were the special for the day), and hash browns, with peppers and onions, (in the photo there is cheese on them but this was an error and they brought me out fresh ones with no cheese). As for the the salmon cakes they were really mushy on the inside and lacked flavor, and the potatoes were cooked well from a texture perspective but they didn't have any seasoning. I will say they Moore Street Cafe staff has mastered the logistics and their customer service is top tier which I can certainly appreciate. However, the food is underwhelming. read more

Best breakfast in Richmond! Our first experience there and it certainly delivered. I had the breakfast reuben sandwich with grits and my wife had the BLT. Our friends had an omelette and chicken biscuit and everyone loved their food. Perfect pancakes too. My reuben was delicious but it was a bit much for the bread to handle so I eventually switched to eating it with fork and knife. Not even mad about it because the flavors were impeccable. It's not a huge place but they have an old diner feel with cool decor like old movie and music posters. Very friendly staff and the service was good. We definitely recommend it! read more
