After a recommendation to try Toast, I stopped in for dinner and sat at the bar. The place was pretty lively for a weekday, but there was a baseball game happening later so that likely brought more of a crowd. The Cuban Reuben caught my eye as unique and figured the flavors would combine to create something that tasted like neither of the parent sandwiches. The quality of the sandwich ingredients was very good, but what struck me was how each bite either tasted like a Cuban or a Reuben. It was a nice experience to eat two sandwiches in one and have it be so delicious! I upgraded my side to the Bacon Brussel Sprouts which were fried perfectly. To finish off the meal, I ordered a piece of Key Lime Pie. It was the authentic variety that is more tart than sweet, which is as it should be! When you first walk in the atmosphere is welcoming and engaging. The front staff recognizes you and welcomes you to the establishment and provides good customer service and directs your party to your table. When we first sat, we were handed a specialty menu and the regular menu to have multiple selections to choose from. Now let's get down to the selected items, my dad had a crab omelet loaded with fluffy crab meat, house potatoes and rye bread. My sister had the hanger steak that she enjoyed without sauce (now that's a good steak) and her sides were fingerling potatoes, and fried egg. As for my other sister she had the chicken pesto sandwich which she rocked while eating the entire time because it was so good. To start, the parking lot was packed when we arrived. We parked on the outside of the lot, near the construction area. Be wary of construction debris when parking there along the edge. Upon entering the restaurant, we were welcomed by the GM and seated immediately. I noted the modern appearance of the dining area with a back area hidden away for larger parties. Also, that explains the parking lot. I appreciated the concise menu options. I feel it's best when restaurants keep the meal choices simple and quality is derived through its ingredients, preparation, people, and service. I ordered the table a bucket o' sweet tots. If you like sweet potatoes and tots, the honey sriracha aioli dipping sauce paired incredibly well. I ordered the Hanger Steak (medium) and my partner ordered the Hot Nashville Chicken sandwich. The steak was tender and well-seasoned (salt and pepper, some butter) and melted in my mouth as I chewed. The vegetables were also flavorful, with the rosemary potatoes very lightly seasoned, and the asparagus was tender and delicious, if only a bit on the salty side. My partner's fried chicken fillet was enormous and dwarfed the bun it rested on. She cut a third off and used that for her meal. We ended up taking a giant piece of fried chicken home and some tots to boot. We heated up the leftovers in an air fryer tonight, which was a delicious reminder how fantastic that chicken's breading was. Our server's name was Drew, and he was an absolute gem. He was there at the right moment throughout our entire meal. Water getting low, here comes Drew. Need some sauce? You guessed it. The guy really made me feel like he had us covered. The GM came by to ask about our experience and we had a nice conversation about Richmond, restaurants, and local business. He advised us to check out other EAT Restaurant Group locations (the company that manages and runs Toast). I would feel remiss if I failed to mention the extensive bourbon library. Now, that is the perfect way to describe the bourbon selection. I'd been so curious about this place (a seemingly odd location for a sit-down sports bar as it's surrounded by drive thrus), and it was surprisingly good! They have happy hour daily until 6:30pm, and the drink deals are pretty solid. My friend and I shared truffle fries (also on happy hour) and the bacon brussel sprouts, and both were pretty dang good. The service was friendly and fairly quick. Overall, this is a pretty solid find. If you can find parking in this little village area, stop by this joint during happy hour. read more

My wife and I met another couple here for dinner on a Friday evening. We did have a reservation so that is never a bad idea if they take them. It is a fairly new place at this location. There is a small parking area. Unfortunately, we had to park in a gravel/dirt/mud area just after we had the melting from a snow storm.. so mud on shoes and cars. Hopefully there is a plan for addressing that issue as this area develops. The food and waitress were very good. Two of us had Salmon and the others a sandwich. The salmon was quite good. Before dinner, we ordered drinks. I had a beer but my friend got a bourbon. I was pleasantly surprised at the large list of available bourbons they had. I did not look at the prices but the list had a lot of variety. The overall experience was pleasant. The restaurant got fairly full but it was not overly loud like some places get. We stopped in yesterday during prime brunch hours 12p-2p so it was a bit busy and I want to acknowledge that firstly. The service itself was good just a bit slow. Our waitress was really sweet and the food we ordered was decent. We started with the blueberry donut holes which were really good and came with a vanilla dipping sauce and maple syrup. I ordered the chicken biscuit with sausage gravy and a fried egg, it was okay but I had to doctor it up a bit or it would have been bland. My boyfriend ordered the brunch burger and really enjoyed it. My biggest gripe was the OJ. It's supposed to be 12 oz and couldn't have been more than 6 oz and the glass wasn't filled. Met a friend at Toast and it didn't disappoint! There were so many choices - and she's vegetarian. We started with the sweet potatoes and I'd highly recommend you do, too. They're addictive. Been here a few times for work so it's been earlier and the day and not busy- not sure what they're like with a crowd but I've never had any problems. The place is nice and clean and the staff has always been nice. I've tried a few things and everything has been good. The steak salad is my current favorite. I come here about once or twice a month. I like that they participate in AAdvantage Dining, I like the location, and I like the bar. I usually eat here by myself for lunch or for dinner. I will say that the food is usually good, but it doesn't blow me away like a Toast location in the West End used to. I will also say that the food can be inconsistent (especially the brussel sprouts). One time I ate here with my wife and we ordered dinner entrees that were not good. Now I generally stick to the sandwiches and have had better experiences. The cocktail menu needs a little bit of a revamp as well. read more

Nashville hot chicken sandwich is worth returning for, not oily like "real" hot chicken but it's a nice crispy and tender chicken sandwich. Wings are decent but they are not crispy, even without sauce. Calamari gets a C+, doesn't seem fresh and they're not very tender.
