Solid dive bar for a local. We came in as travelers. 3 stars instead of 4 or more since the staff isn't super attentive; only asked if we wanted more drinks when we were ready to leave. The chicken sandwich was great, just wish there was a side. Coleslaw wasn't the greatest but passable. If you want a good burger, this is a great place to go however, today was the first time we ever had an issue and it was with the waitress Andrea B extremely rude does not know how to say you're welcome or thank you when you acknowledge her bringing things to the table , however, can say thanks guys when she knows she's about to get a tip. Not personable at all. Did the absolute bare minimum customer service definitely lacking .if you ask me, she's in the wrong industry if she's trying to make a living. Jessie the waitress was phenomenal! Super attentive and friendly. After a whiskey tasting around the corner we were hungry and this place said it had been around since the before the 50's so we gave it a try. I used to have an office in Greencastle. I retired in 2006 we still get to Moore's annually. It used to be several coldies and two tenderloins that we ate at the bar. Keep your pets out of the food service establishment! We were in for lunch and someone had their dog at the bar and crapped on the floor in multiple places. Our Booth was inches from where he pooped. The Bartender cleaned it up with paper towels, no sanitizer and it smelled pretty bad. We thought the dog owner left but, no, bellied right up to the bar with the dog. Our food came right after that, no apologies. OMG, the health department would have a hayday. They could have politely asked that the patron take the dog home and not bring it back ...we certainly won't be back unless we know pets aren't allowed in a food establishment. In a word...Fantastic. A perfect experience awaits you at Moore's. I wish this was in my hometown for sure. I would eat here daily! I had the hand Pattied burger and fries (crinkle!) and a side salad (homemade dressing-excellent!) and everything was great. I would take away half a start for the fries being frozen not fresh cut, and the iced tea being the fountain not real brewed...but I gave it back for the cleanliness and overall charm. Greencastle keeps adding new places to try and because of that, I put off giving Moores a try until yesterday. It's and old "shotgun" style restaurant with a long bar on the right and across the narrow aisle, small tables for dining patrons line the left side. The food was good, actually quite tasty, and the beer selections is large enough to give craft beer fans lots of local choices as well. I really enjoyed my Reuben special while my wife liked her Hangover tenderloin. She liked the seasoned breading on the tenderloin and said it wasn't too dry, so good food! The only reason I knock a star off the review is that there wasn't any attempt by the staff to make customers wear their masks as they wandered from the bar, passed all the dining customers, to the restrooms. Fortunately, my wife and I are two weeks out from finishing our Covid vaccinations, but I thought it inconsiderate of the patrons to keep talking to their buddies without masks as they walked by our table. I felt like the other patrons were just ignoring common sense and courtesy. I stopped eating and pulled up my own mask when they went by. I guess I should have just asked for our meals to go. I find it hard to sympathize with businesses that don't protect their own employees let alone their customers. So, they get a lower rating. Moore's is one of the less expensive restaurants (non-fast food) downtown, so that helps explain the full house of patrons even at lunch. I ordered the ribeye sandwich-it was alright flavor wise but the meat was thinner than a napkin and dryer than the desert. Fries just like the frozen ones from Walmart, actually if you want fries go to McDonalds, those ones are way better and you don't get a $2 up charge. The spin dip... please do NOT get me started with the spin dip, let's say you are better off not ordering it. The dip had no flavor and the chips were salty af. The side salad was good-you can't mess that one up. Drinks were good too, can't mess that one up either. Sad, I've always heard good things about the food, but after an hour and 15 minute wait and being told that they hadn't even started the appetizer, we left. But hey, it's a bar. Per her recommendation, I ordered the pot roast sandwich. It was tasty, yet I thought there could have been a bit more in the quantity department. I don't know. Went to Moore's today after doing some business in Greencastle. All I was looking for was a quiet beer and a sandwich. Unfortunately, I had the bad luck to sit next to several college-age kids who got very rowdy and who used a lot of "f-words" in their conversation. I don't have virgin ears (20 years in the military), but their behavior was, to say the least, inappropriate and annoying. The bartender/server at the time I came in was either unwilling or unable to put a lid on their behavior, so I turned to them and very directly asked them to tone things down (I even used "please" and "thank you"). That *sort of* calmed the kids down to the point where I could hear myself think. The bartender/server subsequently came up to me and rather snippily informed me that the kids had lost a friend that day. I replied that I wasn't a mind reader and that I too had lost military friends. This being said, it still didn't excuse their use of f-words while other patrons were eating and drinking. The bartender also indicated she had lost her son in Afghanistan. For this, I'm truly sorry and offer my sincere and deepest condolences, but that sad fact was irrelevant to the situation at hand. The bartender said I should have gone through her to deal with the situation, which I thought was an odd thing to say since she made no effort on her own to tell her acquaintances that their behavior was loud and inappropriate. It also didn't help that the oldest one of the kids apparently muttered "F*** you" to me as he walked past my booth. I'm way older and wiser than that idiot, so I ignored him. Bottom line: the beer I drank was adequate, the Reuben sandwich was mediocre, and my experience less than optimum. I've been to Moore's several times in the past few months, but this time will be my last. read more

Nicer than a dive bar, but with that dive bar feel. There is no beer on draft, however, they have an amazing beer selection. A lot of local Indiana beers to offer. Their food is flat out amazing! The mushrooms were served still frozen inside.. so we told the waitress and she explained that they have a new cook and brought another order, then both taco salads tasted as if they had sugar or sweet n low on them, the fries were just like the first order of mushrooms and were still frozen inside. She offered to make new fries but by then we were over it.. To beat all after we told her she took off the order of fries and charged us 43.00.
