We wanted to try this restaurant out Saturday night. The website said they were open until 10. We got there at 8:30 and door were closed but there were people inside. We called and the voicemail said they were open until 9:30. Another party knocked on the door and were told they close at 8:30. After visiting Cataract Falls, we decided to go into the wonderful small town of Greencastle. This is such a walkable town and there is an amazing burger bar called TapHouse Burgers. It was a stop on one of my now husbands first dates after Cataract Falls previously and we have great memories of the people and the FRIES! Decided to go again. This place is awesome. It is an order from the counter, they bring food out to you kind of place. Plenty of seats, a great bar area with TVs for enjoying sports and a great selection of beers on tap. They make some of the best burgers, seriously. Their fries are out of this world and some of the best I have ever had. Not only is the food great, the space is great, but the people that work there are so wonderful. You feel very welcome and they are able to answer most of your questions (those under 21 years of age are not able to talk about the tastes of the beer!). A great lunch or dinner option and you must try this wonderful burger bar! Parking is easy on the street or the public parking that is right across the street! read more

We decided to give the TapHouse a try, but weren't blown away. There's quite nice staff and the overall style and look of the place is great, but we were expecting a sit-down restaurant. Instead you order and pick up your food at the counter. Seems a little silly when there was plenty of staff and the receipt asked for a tip. The most awkward part is if you want a drink refill you have to get up and ask a staff member for a refill. Instead I think they need a free standing drink machine and not one where you have to ask for a refill. We've been several times to eat and my picky 9 year old says it has the best burgers he's ever had. The menu isn't large, but it doesn't need to be because it's all good. We've had burgers, root beer and cream soda floats, fries, onion rings, garlic parmesan fries... that's pretty much the menu and it's consistently good. They have shoestring fries and if you want the garlic Parmesan fries, they give enough garlic and sauce in one order, to use in two orders. Yummy and most definitely recommend! read more

Classic burger and hot dog spot in downtown greencastle! Loved the single burger with the special sauce. I was between that and the avocado grilled cheese. I did order a side of the truffle aioli to dip my fries in and what a great combo! We also tried the chili cheese dog which had great flavor and the bun was a bit crispy as well. First time at THB. Too bad I waited till she was a senior. This place is pretty close to DePauw. The service is counter and the menu up on the wall is not huge. I ordered the teriyaki mushroom burger and my daughter ordered the Royal burger. The Royal was messy (with the fried egg) but good and the mushroom burger was great. The onion rings were crispy. The staff was very friendly. We sat at the bar and then figured out that the bar is actually full service so you don't have to order at the counter. This is a nice spot with plenty of tables and the sound was muted so you can easily hold a conversation. read more

This was one of the only places open after 7 pm when we were wondering around downtown. I'm glad that they have "ordering at the counter" - because we've really grown to prefer it. However, the layout of the menu was very inconsistent. Some things come with fries, some don't, these meals come with a drink, these don't, and you can't get a burger without a meal but you can't get a hotdog as one - all very confusing. The garlic parm fries were really the show stopper, with the queso cheese, highly recommend! Otherwise, our burger and hotdog were just okay. We both had stale buns - I hate that. We ordered our food and went to sit in the bar and no one ever asked us if we wanted to order drinks, eventually we just had to flag someone down. Usually Tap House is a Greencastle staple, and my boyfriend and I usually love eating here. However this time it was anything but delicious. Aside from the fries, the burgers were nothing extraordinary, they forgot to put the sprinkles I paid for on my shake, and they forgot to bring the cheese sauce out which I paid for, only to bring out grainy orange sauce that could barely classify as cheese. I'm unsure if we will come here again, we are not pleased with this service. read more

This is my second favorite restaurant in Greencastle. The first being bridges I worked in Greencastle for a 4 1/2 months. And ate here nearly every day. The staff was always excellent, friendly, attentive, and professional. I was always greeted with a smile. I stopped in for lunch and had a surprisingly delicious burger and side salad. Although some local patrons may complain about the pricing, I found the quality and prices to be competitive with the best burger places in the Indy metro area. In fact, the Mushroom Tapburger is the best burger I've had in months! I like my burgers to have a nice char on the outside to bring out the beef flavor while staying juicy inside. The layer of grilled mushroom was thick enough that I thought I was eating a double patty instead of the single. The melted cheese, tomato, lettuce, and especially the truffle aioli made the flavor deep and rich with layers of tastes. Truly the best mushroom burger I've had in years. The side salad was colorful with fresh slices of granny smith apples on top. I ordered a red wine vinaigrette and was pleased with the taste. The only negative is that I believe they make their croutons in house and the frying temp must have been a little low since I detected a hint of oily taste in them. Not bad enough to hurt the salad, just not perfect. I will say that the portion size for lunch was just right. I left feeling satisfied, but not stuffed. The service was really good from start to finish as well. Even though there was a large group of 12 being served while I was there, the staff made sure that they assisted the waitress who was assigned to me as well as the group so that I had minimal wait times. That is rare! This place is associated with the Bridges Restaurant (pizza and wine) down the street. They are also opening a new bakery and sushi restaurant on the adjacent corner to TapHouse (later in 2020). Great place for lunch! Everything was delicious and very quick. Clean and friendly. Counter order style, then can csit on bar side or restaurant side. "Patty Melt" was more like a grilled cheese garlic bread sandwich with bacon (and delicious burgers), but loved it! Mushroom burger was also amazing, with an aioli that enhanced the overall flavor, taking it to the next level loved the house fries, plentiful and addictive but they ARE salty. $8 craft cocktails were delish too. read more

Came here for dinner for rwo reasons: it was within walking distance from our hotel and it was open on Sunday night. Charlie the bartender was welcoming and helpful. She let us sample some beers before we made our decision. She also made some sandwich recommendations. The beer was good and the sandwiches were delicious and just what we needed. I actually give this place 3.5 stars, but will round up because the service is pretty darn good. A nice beer selection, they are known for their milkshakes and hamburgers. However, I always seem to go with their hot dogs as they are grilled to perfection. They have fantastic hand-cut french fries and their onion rings are very good too. The atmosphere is really cool and hip. Occasionally, they will have live music which is an upgrade. A good place to go watch football if you want to sit at the bar. They also do have a side that is kid friendly. The prices are a little steep, but all in all worth it. read more

Extremely disappointed and annoyed. My friends and I came here to eat and they don't offer any gluten free options. Because of this, my friend brought her own bun to use to eat her burger with. One of the employees told her that she was not allowed to eat it in the the restaurant and was extremely rude about it. She even went as far as to send other workers over to spy on our table to make sure that she wasn't eating it. It made us very uncomfortable and upset and it was honestly a rude invasion of privacy. This was a terrible experience and me never want to come back. This is one of my favorite restaurants but this is unacceptable and truly upset me. read more

Very disappointed. Came with my friends, one of my friends is gluten free. She knew there was no gluten free buns available (disappointing in this day), so she brought her own bun. We were approached by the seemingly manager and was told that she was not allowed to eat her gluten free bun in store. She was rude. Major disappointment. Overpriced, disorganized menu. Flat fountain drinks and slow service. No explanation on the menu as to what is included with the "combo". Very strange and inflated price structure overall. (I do not mind paying more if I'm getting a quality meal, I did not.) Hamburger was small for the price. The loaded cheese fries had a sugary sweet flavor that just did not go with the typical cheese fry vibe. Different, and not in a good way either. Ambience was an unfortunate departure from the former TapHouse 24. Too open and rather spartan. I expected so much more from the owners of Bridges Wine Bar and Pizza which I absolutely love! We had a party of 6 people. The service from the get go was not great. There was no sign of whether to wait or seat yourself. We just sat down since the area was empty and not large. We immediately got someone that walked to us and basically scolded us for just sitting down. It was very awkward. Then we had another server who was decent but not great. She didn't know the menu very well because we had orders where the party would ask for certain things to be left off of the meal but she had no clue what we were saying. A recent visit last Thursday made me long for the old Tap House 24 days when they had a real menu, and the majority of their 24 taps had craft beer. Now it's just a burger and hot dog place where you order food at a counter (like McDonald's) and pick it up at the same counter (like McDonald's). The staff seems to be sending mixed signals; the bartender who walked around the dining area wore no mask, others had masks on with exposed noses, the cooking staff had their masks around their chins. Nothing remarkable here anymore, the newish owners have made sure of that. I had the teriyaki mushroom Swiss burger, excellent! The teriyaki mushrooms is a nice way to add flavor. The bun was nice and toasty, patty was decent size, not overwhelming. It was a solid burger for the money, lots of flavor! I had to onion rings with it, good but a little greasy. I don't know if that's a batter thing or they just needed to drain more. Tasty, but a little greasy. Emily was working the bar where I sat, SUPER friendly, great service, very welcoming. This is a very nice upgrade from the previous owners, no doubt about it. I ordered the Royale Tapburger with Chili Cheese Fries and Tomato Bisque soup. I ended the evening off with a Reese's Cup. My friend ordered a Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich with Chili Cheese Fries. DO NOT order a chicago dog from this restaurant. You will have an empty stomach and a heart full of regret. Even if it was just a hot dog, it would've been a major flop. My friend took a bite and looked at me and said "Maybe the chicago dog person was off duty today." NO. There is no excuse for this tragedy other than a complete oversight by tap house leadership.
