Moo's Place is the perfect place if you want a nice meal to take home at an affordable price. My husband & I ordered for the first time and we were really happy with it! Ordering and pick up were so easy. I had the small Orange Chicken with rice. Although it is deep fried it was not "too fried" the chicken was tender & light. The sauce was not as tangy as I wanted and wished there was more of it. My husband ordered his fav, Mongolian Beef . He gave it an 8/10 because he was expecting more spice & zip to the dish. I loved the size of the portion, convenience & price. Next time I might ask them to add some zip to the sauces. We will definitely be going back there. I have been going to Moo's for about 15 years! Tonight was such a disappointment! I pulled up to the window for a menu because I didn't know what I wanted. Was handed a menu and My husband pulled over as we looked over the menu and than phoned it in. They called us to drive up to the window for pick up and pay. Lana said hi and took Bobs card, gave us the receipt and our food and we headed home. I glanced at the receipt which I didn't have glasses on and said does it say 49.00??? I figured when I got in the house I would look at the menu and add it up! It should have been 29.00, so I thought, oh they just made a mistake and called them. All the prices on the menu and the prices on receipt were totally different. When I called, Marion told me they shouldn't have given me that menu because all those prices were not right. I replied I was NOT told that and any way why would you give me a menu with the wrong prices on them and NOT TELLING ME THAT! I would have never ordered all that with it coming to 49.00!!!!! This was not an answer I wanted to hear! By the way all the prices were substantially more on the receipt! I truly know this was a big mistake, I was not rude I just kept saying they were wrong for giving me an incorrect priced menu. That was not my fault but theirs! So they just hung up on me. I was hungry for some sweet and sour chicken, so I asked my husband if Chinese sounded good to him. Thankfully hr had the same craving and I had a Chinese restaurant I hadn't gone to in 12 years that I wanted to check out again. My husband and I both got the a large sweet and sour chicken from Moo's Place. My husband works out in Watervliet right now so it was convienent to stop by after work. The food was as good as I remember and I look forward to getting them more often now that we are in the area more often. I always love chicken from Chinese restaurants, so next time I'll either get orange or lemon chicken. My husband also got some pork stripes that came with a sauce and veggies. He doesn't care for veggies so I gladly ate the peppers and carrots. I thought they were really tasty and were giving me a Chinese stir fry vibe. I want to get some of those next time as well. I'm glad my husband and I got a craving for Chinese the same day. I will definitely be requesting to come back sooner than later. read more

The dishes almost all taste alike most of their dishes are bland. They charge way more for egg rolls and they have gotten smaller. Plus they are chintzy on the sauce packets they give you. But the biggest thing I don't like is their prices went through the roof compared to the size and quality of food you're getting. I realize that the cost of living has gone up, but their dining room isn't open so all it they have is take out which is saving them a lot of money. But yet they've raised their prices twice since Covid! I live in Hartford and I drive to Saint Joseph or Paw Paw to get my Chinese food now and I'm still paying less and getting better food! read more

The sesame chicken was overly fried until it had a burnt shoe leather consistency, and the pork fried rice, while plain, was the only edible item in our order. Crab Rangoon are generous with filling and well fried but the filling was all onions. BBQ pork fried rice was excellent. We will order again! read more

We order frequently from this place. Our most recent issue prior to this one was the crab rangoon. We order it all the time as a side. Recently there was a recipe change and now I think they use a copious amount of onions to short the crab/cheese filling. I asked them if they were making them differently now and got an attitude back saying "the same person that has made them for years is still making them the same way they always have". There are clearly more onions in it. Maybe the name got changed to onion rangoon and they forgot to update the menu. *shrug* nothing like skimping on your menu items guys. This time they shorted our order by 1.5 pounds worth of food between multiple dishes. called and spoke to the staff which didn't really seem to care. They put the manager/owner on the phone. He didn't care either. His customer service was just as bad if not worse than the first employee I spoke with. I was told "I don't know what to tell you." He never offered to refund a portion of the total cost or make it right the next time. I then asked to be refunded a portion of the total and he flat-out said no. you may want to keep looking for a good Chinese food restaurant. they don't care if they short you food and they clearly won't make it right. I tried to brush off the other interactions with the employees and their bad attitudes. Everybody has bad days, I get it. I've had enough with this place after this most recent order though. There always seems to be something negative here... You've got zero customer service skills guys. I'm surprised you've lasted this long. I love moos and I've been a loyal customer for years but today I ordered veggie lo mein and it came with no sauce just dry noodles, I also got the hot and sour soup which I've gotten many many times it was so unbelievably sour this time that it wasn't even enjoyable:( very disappointing. read more

Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday as we were driving back to Chicago after a weekend in Michigan. The restaurant was about 1/3 full with plenty of seating all around. My girlfriend and I ordered hot tea and each got one of the lunch specials which are priced nicely. They didn't charge us for the tea which I thought was really nice of them. The food was good, the price was excellent, and the atmosphere was just what we were looking for on a lazy Sunday afternoon. This place gets 5 stars not because they serve the best food I've ever had but because it's good food at a great price in an area where there aren't too many other options. It's a good spot to try if you're driving through, especially for their lunch specials and tea. read more

Had our first bad experience tonight. I always eat the sesame chicken and tonight they over cooked the chicken it was all dried out and hard as a rock. We called back up there to complain about it and was told that that's how it's supposed to be we sold 30 plates today and your the first to complain. I've literally eaten this 30 or 40 times myself and this is horrible. I'm disappointed in the way they turned us away when we called and will probably not go back there any time soon read more

This place has gone down hill. It's hit or miss but mostly miss. We ordered sesame chicken and the batter/dough turned into muck, like eating Sandy paste in mediocre sauce, couldn't eat it. They used to make their egg rolls, now it's some cheap version probably frozen tasted terrible. The orders when you pick it up are stapled shut so you can't see if you got everything, and the last two times we ordered from moos they left big parts of the order out of the bag, we never got it, called them said we didn't get what we ordered and they said we will write it down and give you store credit. I said no take it off my credit card. Store credit they said. So we order again a month later go in to get the order and they say we are not on the store credit list.‍ I just said forget it, bought the order I'm talking about up there and low and behold they forgot another part of the order. Not ever ordering from them again. Done with inconsistent food, and rude people. Sad too, they were really great about 10 years ago, then who the heck knows what happened. read more

My wife and I stumbled on this gem on our way to East Lansing from Chicago. This is a trip we make regularly, and we WILL be stopping for Moo's Chinese next time! The service, quality of food, and value was outstanding. We were greeted and seated immediately. The server was really friendly and funny. I asked if they served beer (they don't) and instead of being negative about it, she laughed it off and kept going. Well played, madam. We ordered the potstickers, crab Rangoon, and Hunan chicken. The crab came within 3 minutes and not because it was sitting under a heat lamp. It was WAY hot and clearly just finished cooking. Once we let it cool down a bit, we were treated to the freshest, most amazing crab Rangoon I've ever had. The meat was tender and flavorful, the veggies tasted like they'd just been chopped, and I'm pretty sure they make the dough wrapper from scratch. Next up were the potstickers. The meat inside a potsticker can sometimes be... questionable. Not in this case! Again, great flavor and texture and seemingly prepared moments before. Finally, the Hunan Chicken: lots of flavor and great balance of veggies and meat. The white rice on the side was just sticky enough to be great. The only shortfall was that my wife and I eat VERY spicy food and despite asking for it, our meal was not very spicy. It certainly didn't change the quality of the food, but I wish people wouldn't assume that a "boring white couple" can't handle anything more than a watered down jalapeno! Ending this amazing meal was an equally amazing price. All in, $22. Oh, and we had an entire meal of food left over, and the folks who ended up eating the leftovers raved about how good it was! read more

We tried the Sizzling Rice Soup for two and it was excellent. Also enjoyed the fried rice and Combination Chow Mein Cantonese. The portion sizes were generous and the prices reasonable. Great Chinese food in the middle of rural Michigan? What the heck was I thinking pulling into this joint? Ok, so the staff was super friendly, that is nice and much appreciated. Egg rolls, looked and tasted like frozen to me. Hot and sour soup, tasted like it might be ketchup based....yuck! Lo Mein.....I can't even really describe it, it was really bad. Cashew Chicken, average I guess. So...with all that said, there was one good food item. A bit of heaven on a plate that I can't explain. The Fried Rice......this had to be the best damn fried rice I have ever had in my life. How, in the middle of all this other bad food did they produce such perfection. I eat a lot of chinese and have had my fair share of all kinds of rice, and this by far is the best fried rice I have ever had. Go figure............. So, I see on other review sites that someone put "best in town" but my question is (and excuse me, I don't know the area that well) is what other chinese food is there in this tiny little town? I guess it CAN be the best in town if it is the only one in town so maybe that statement is accurate. Moo's Place is part of a group of local own family restaurant - owned by family who live here in the area. The Asian foods they serve are authentic as the Health Dept. of MI will allow, and serves is fast and polite. They want your visit to be remembered and it is but everything being good. No they did not jump on that over dress bandwagon, decor is simple, music Mandarin sung modern music, and the services dress just like the rest of us. But it is clean and nicely located between two small towns (Watervliet & Coloma). I just had family up from AL who live near those fancy Chinese restaurants and they had nothing but high praise for Moo's and were going to tell everyone they finally had authentic Asian food. Everyone who has taken the time to drive out and eat there has written home about it and told everyone it is a must stop and try. read more

Two times in a row the governor chicken has been horrible, over cooked and dry, I couldn't even eat it. Going down there when they open today to return this god awful meal. Was staying at the water park down the road and ordered takeout from this place for dinner. Staff was friendly and very nice. This is where the good part of the review ends. We ordered egg rolls, egg drop soup, house special chicken, sweet & sour chicken and combination fried rice. The soup tasted like condensed Campbells chicken soup broth. Not very good. Overall the food was very bland from a Chinese food perspective. It was however one giant salt bomb. To the point that the fried rice was inedible. The house special chicken wasn't very special. And for Chinese food it had an amazing lack of vegetables. Just not very good. read more

Finally we have found a Chinese Restaurant that is decent! Unlike other local Van Buren County Chinese restaurants, we found Moo to have both well prepared & properly cooked food and good service too. We loved their egg rolls - nice twist of peanut flavor - and our main dishes were equally delightful. This is the only Chinese food in Watervliet. It may even be the only ethnic food in Watervliet. Its pretty standard fair and nothing to write home about. Moo's works in a pinch and is about what one would expect. I certainly have had better. I've also had worse. At least the staff is friendly, prices fairly cheap, and dining space roomy and well lit. I don't think it's any worse then the China buffets in Benton Harbor. I guess I am just really spoiled on the Asian food front since I moved to Chicago. read more

Ordered 3 Sesame Chicken and the chicken was very very hard and we couldn't even eat it. I called and the owner was very rude. My husband called back and was given the 3 sesame chickens on credit. So today when I called to reorder those three sesame chicken orders hoping they are better this time, the owners wife said they weren't going to give those to us anymore... I've been eating at this restuarant for many many years and today because of the way we were treated and previously the food was so hard we couldn't even chew it and had to throw it in the trash we are now done with this place, it's definetly not worth the gamble...
