Amazing!! We had the double dutch and the bronx brunch and we were blown away at how great it was! The service was also great!! Definitely a must try if you enjoy brunch food (:

Eggs Benedict and French toast...moose style!

I was really impressed with the menu at Moose, which is extensive and features many delicious American brunch options. I was disappointed they had run out of salt beef as the Reuben sandwich sounded great, but I really enjoyed my "New Hampshire Moose" which is eggs benedict with smoked salmon (which actually has several alternative names including eggs atlantic and eggs royale, which I know because uh I may have read the Wikipedia page on eggs benedict on a previous occasion). They also have milkshakes. Milkshakes are one of my favourite things in life and normally I get strawberry but instead of the classic flavours they had some more adventurous options - so I got cookie dough. And it was good.

I first heard about Moose from a friend who said it was great and wasn't able to try it until later on ... but since that first try ... I've been converted .. any time I can get into Manchester first 8am I make sure to head to moose for breakfast. Not only do they do a great coffee .. but their Canadian/American style breakfasts are the best I've had. The service is always exceptional and the place is doing so well with more and more places opening up and it makes me so happy. The servers are always so nice, and the food is always so good .. I usually go for the grande bouche (French toast with bacon) or veggie version (no bacon) and it is to die for. You get 2 large brioche french toasts and a very generous serving of real maple syrup and I can't get enough. I usually put some syrup in my coffee and Ooof. The portion is great ... I'm content after eating there .. not hungry and not uncomfortably full so it's just perfect and today we had 3 drinks and 3 meals for just under £10 each ... you can't grumble at that at all. I love moose and will always love moose

i've been told about moose cafe and my friend decided we should eat lunch there! she suggested the pancakes but since we both prefer savory food items, we both decided to share one to have best the both worlds! first, she came in at noon and booked a table for 12.40 which was the next available time slot which was just the right time as we said to meet half past! she did mention it was always packed and that there was a new store near picadilly but thought the original was best for first timers like me! i loved the decor, especially with the christmas/festive lights! i thought it matched really well with all the moose decor (really tempted to buy the moose astronaut poster for £5!!) i ordered the new england eggs benedict and she got the club sandwich then we ordered a stack of pancakes with syrup to share! the food took a bit of time but judging by how busy they were, i'd say it was reasonable and worth the wait! we were both sort of messy eaters but it was all really tasty!! i'm glad we got the pancakes or else i would've needed to come back and try it again before i go back home! i really enjoyed the atmosphere but maybe the other store would be less busy/rush! the service was really nice and helpful though!

    Bounty shake..quite gritty :(

I have always imagined this to be yet another generic coffee shop...WRONG Finishing a 12 hour night shift we came here to warm our cockles after being tossed about in the icy wind and rain. The decor screams of moose, moosey antler chandeliers, moosey fine art , and one moose-infested menu. A hostess waved us to a cream leather booth..it sure felt like a posh Canadian diner..opening the menu, I could not find a single familiar dish. I loved how everything was titled moosily..from Mighty Moose, Lone Moose, Veggie Moose..a lot of the dishes consisted of meat patties, maple bacon, pulled pork, grits , proper buttermilk pancakes...there was so much, and each dish had a lengthly description of what it entailed.. After some time we both ordered a Oreo and Bounty shake..the Oreo was malty and wholesome..the bounty was gritty due to the coconut shards which made it unpleasant. Food : I ordered the Rich Moose Grits purely because I had never tried grits before. The waitress queried if I preferred brown or white toast..she need not had bothered after what was about to come next.. When my dish was presented to me, I quietly whimpered 'help'..the portion was intimidating , and the postioning of griddled tomato and easy over eggs made it look like a mocking face. The grits I soon discovered, was made up of ground corn, infused with garlic and cheese..it was similar to mash potato, the runny yolk from the organic egg helped break it up...but still it was so rich that I only consumed 1/4 of it ...without battering an eyelid to the toast. Sheepishly I watched my friend dig into her Grande Bouche.. basically bacon and vanilla battered egg on french toast, smothered in maple syrup.. it looked epic. Fast falling into a food coma I grabbed an emergency coffee latte...not to sound cliche but this was the best latte I've tasted.. Unfortunately the bathroom was out of service, which wasn't pointed out until I turned around and saw the sign...however the service was pleasant and the ingredients tasted fresh and ...actually organic? The eggs that I consumed were thick like the pancakes.. I will definitely be back, but not for the grits..unless I starve myself for a week first

Tri-State Combo (New York Moose and New Orleans Moose) Eggs Benedict

Moose is quite simply a big fat slab of American & Canadian breakfast magnificence, tucked away off Mosley Street. The offerings here were so good that I went two weeks in a row and will be back again on Monday. They have one of the most extensive and intriguing all day breakfast/brunch menus I've ever seen. On my first visit I was beside myself at the prospect of being able to mix any of their five Eggs Benedict dishes - the 'Tri-State Combo'. Served on a toasted bagel and at less than £8, it was hearty and delicious (the slow cooked pulled pork of the New Orleans Moose element was totally delicious). The second visit, thanks to recommendations from fellow Yelpers, saw an order of a stack of homemade American pancakes with blueberries at £6 (because I deluded myself that having fruit would counterbalance the ginormous carb overload coupled with syrup and butter). Though their drinks menu appears to be focused on espresso-based coffee, they do sell some decent tea here with a generous pot ranging from £1.70 to £2.50. The interior is American diner influenced with some quirky design elements (look out for the chandeliers and wall art in particular) and if you time your arrival just right try and grab a booth in the back so you can also people watch whilst you dine. If you drowned out the sound of Manchester accents you could have expected to see a brunch of Ice Road Truckers coming in to order a gargantuan breakfast here. I've got a feeling they'll have to crane me out of this place after my next visit.

    Pulled pork Eggs Benedict

Shortly after I moved to Manchester a couple of friends came to visit. On a fuzzy-headed Sunday morning they wanted Eggs Benedict. For reasons unknown I couldn't source them any (I blame the fact that I wasn't at that point tagged into the Yelp hive mind). If only I had known about Moose Coffee. You fancy Eggs Benedict, guys? Choose from approximately 7865 varieties*. Meeting up with a friend for lunch on a rainy Saturday evening, I tried to forget that I'd had eggs for breakfast as I perused the extensive menu. Now, I am bad at ordering at the best of times, and had to send the waitress away once in order to make a decision. Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict. It had to happen. And oh man was it good. The soft meat and creamy Hollandaise sauce went together perfectly. My pal opted for the Huevos Rancheros which also looked delicious. Coffee was decent, prices were good, and staff were chirpy. It's in a great location, central for walking to and from the bus/tram/train, but slightly tucked away so it feels a bit secluded. Is it a chain? Is it an independent? I'm not entirely sure but whatever it is, it's a nice addition to the city, and a handy place to know of for the next time my Benedict-loving friends visit. * Slight exaggeration.

MOOSE!!! America+Canada+Cafe=MooseCoffee!! I absolutely love this place!!! And so does everybody else. You'll never see this place empty and there's a good reason for that. On my first, and only visit (so far!!) we arrived at the doors at 8.50am to find the doors opened at 9 and by the time those 10 cold minutes past there was over 10 people waiting to enter just as we were. I was shocked! As it opened and we entered the atmosphere was upbeat, warm and the handful of staff made it feel relaxed and welcoming giving you the time and attention you needed. The menu was a little too much for me at this time in the morning and by that I mean there was LOTS to choose from I couldn't make a decision! The theme of the menu is a mixture of American and Canadian breakfast / brunch food. There's a ton of pancake and waffle mixtures, sweet or savoury. About 12 different varieties of Eggs Benedict, sandwiches, shakes and hot drinks to choose from. I got the 'Double Dutch' - a combination of 2 pancakes filled with sausage and bacon, topped with 2 fried eggs and a pot of maple syrup but remember, these aren't those thin batter mix English pancakes, oh no!! There AMERICAN ONES!!!! One downfall of this uptown cafe is the price. It's between £6-10+ for one meal but with the quality I wouldn't put this down as a complaint. I would highly recommend this place but suggest you get there early as they don't make reservations. I will certainly be reuniting with MOOSE again. A new favourite for me.

Mixed review from me, my boyfriend absolutely loved his meal but mine was a disaster. The coffee was great but I mistakenly thought this place was a great independent but I think it might be a chain. I ordered apple juice and waffles but both were out of a packet and awful. I only had one sip of the juice and a couple of bites of the waffles as they were freezing cold and hard in the middle. The waitress apologised, admitted the waffles were not made on site and recommended the pancakes which she said were made from scratch - but then still charged us the whole price. Hope I'd go back but with other great places in town on offer I'm not sure I would.

Ok, another Manchester place that I need to upgrade. So I returned for breakfast and the place was a lot quieter, which meant there wasn't a horrific wait for food. Thank god! I had the veggie mighty moose and shared a bowl of grits. Both were exceptional. The food here is so good and delicious, it's just heavenly. My only complaint would be that the menu is so ridiculously long that it takes ages to read and to decipher the difference between the dishes.

    Blueberry pancakes. Maple syrup. Lovely!

So I ended up in town an hour early for a meeting today and as a result needed to waste some time, and fill my belly. My meeting was on the next street to Moose Coffee so I thought, why not. Very glad I did. Upon entering, the girl behind the counter smiled and just told me 'grab a seat, I'll be right over'. So I did, and she was. I ordered a latte (£2.40) whilst I decided what to order for breakfast. It was 9am and the place wasn't busy at all.. 2 businessmen on the other side of the cafe and that was pretty much it. The waitress returned with my latte and I ordered the blueberry pancakes (£6) 10 minutes later my pancakes arrived, steaming hot straight out of the pan and covered in icing sugar. Looked lovely. There were 3 pancakes on the stack and it came served with maple syrup. All in all a lovely breakfast. And pretty cheap too. Quite a few people popped in for a takeout coffee on their way to work.. They were served quickly and with a smile - just like I was.

    Nice artwork!

Waiting time can be about five minutes but they will give you menu's to ponder over whilst you wait! I gawped at the paintings of a moose in a space suit and antlers for chandeliers! We were seated after a couple of minutes in a private booth next to the front desk. We each ordered a pot of tea and a huge breakfast - the best! Thin sliced beef with the perfect proportion of seasoning Potato Hash Sausages Eggs Service was smiley and very quick. It was DELICIOUS! The right kind of meal you need for a busy day ahead. I was super jealous of the people eating waffles or pancakes... Especially the toddler with her hands clamped around one pancake chewing it bit by bit! I wish they would do gluten free pancakes!

Coming here is as a direct result of YELP recommendation and of course was not therefore a disappointment. They have clearly outgrown the space due to its mass popularity. The previous day I walked past (a saturday afternoon) and the queue was out the door, although annoying usually a very good sign usually, in this case it proved to be so. The food, well spoilt for choice. Study the menu before hand if you can to prevent you from time-wasting on the day :) i would agree it an authentic Canadian / American diner / coffee house. We all enjoyed the choice we made. My double dutch pancakes did beat me. The chirotzo sausage became too much in the end! I will be returning for a lunchtime soon and have already made my choice (courtesy of the guy on the next table), its gonna be the 'Coney Island'. Here is where I pay homage to Jonny Q... Classic recommendation! Get them to open more!!!

Apart from the starters I didn't find the mains that inspiring. Anyway we decided to share some bbq wings for starters and himself had the brisket burn ends for main while I had the pitmaster for £18. The wings arrived in a tasty sauce and were fairly large. Originally seeming to be named New Yorker Diner, it doesn't have a diner vibe, so instead is now presenting itself as American Street Food, serving burgers, waffles and chicken, gourmet burgers, and some other American sides too, as well as milkshakes and Belgian Waffles. It doesn't have a huge range, but what it has it does well. As you descend the steps into the diner itself, it's got that industrial look that most of the Northern Quarter is doing at the moment, complete with bare brick walls, wood cladding, and filament bulbs. Definitely not the Ed's Easy Diner style 50's American diner. Also, it's not a full service restaurant, but in fact a counter-service place with a dining area. The menu is simple but appetising, with some really tasty offerings and at a price that is very reasonable for Manchester City Centre, especially with some of the lunch deals available. I went to the counter and ordered the "American Boy" burger with fries and a Cherry Coke. The friendly staff member gave me a flashing/buzzing box similar to what you get when waiting for seating at big chain restaurants on a Saturday night, and said it would buzz/flash when my meal was ready for me to collect. Handy. The food was ready, and what I got was very tasty indeed. The burger, although not pink, was cooked through, but still juicy, and the trimmings were perfect, although the 'Brooklyn Sauce' built up spice pretty quickly for me, so I'd probably skip that next time. The fries were really good! Properly hot and crisp, and seasoned perfectly meaning the sachets of salt I picked up were never touched! New Yorker is a simple affair, offering good simple food when you want it, at a good price. I'd go again
