Stopped by this cafe-coffee house with the intent of ordering a hot mocha to taste test and compare it to Contrast Coffee's mocha. Well, we felt over-caffeinated and hungry so plans cha fed and we decided to order lunch instead. After finishing our delicious meal, we ordered dinner to carry out. This cafe is a local gem. Totally different vibe than Contrast Coffee's which was modern, sleek and seemed to attract lots of younger folks. Contrast seemed more to be the place one might choose with just coffee. A sweet treat or something light with coffee. MJC has a very up-north, laid back, comfy feel. It beckons you to grab a table or comfy chair and stay a while. Its vibe might resonate with families, friend groups, seniors, artists and health conscious foodies. The menu offered so many choices: soup, salad, wraps, paninis and pizzas. Many choices in each category, all with the freshest of ingredients, combined creatively, focused on flavor and presented really well for such a casual place. It had a farm-to-table feel. Confident the sauces and dressings were made from scratch. We ordered two wraps and a salad to share and were warned that it might be too much food for two. It definitely would have been. Thankful for this tip. We shared a summer special Mad Hatter panini with chicken, mushrooms and provolone. It was amazing. The mushrooms were perfection. We also shared a Central salad which was so full of delightful add-in like cranberries and cashews. The salad dressing was wonderful. As an after thought, we decided to share a bowl of the soup of the day: chicken and dumplings. So full of chicken, veggies and small dumplings. Delish. We took home a cold club wrap for dinner and the Lynne Lu salad. The dishes were wrapped with such care. We really appreciated the friendly and knowledgeable staff. If we lived here, MJC would be a go-to spot for breakfast and brunch. The homemade desserts looked fabulous. We really enjoyed our stop at MJC! The person taking our order was so kind and patient as we decided what to order. We went with a grilled chicken wrap from the seasonal menu which was great. We got a coffee, one wrap to share, and a slice of carrot cake which came out to a little over $25, which was a bit pricey. Everything tasted good though. The "moosechino" was a frappe with white chocolate and caramel that we just had to order based on the cute name. So good! Very cozy ambiance, seems like a great local place to support. They had some cute merch as well - I was tempted to pick up a sweatshirt and may have to swing back to get one! read more

Very good food, friendly service. My 1/2 wrap was tasty. I wish they had a heathier side option than chips, but whatever. I enjoyed my food and my coffee and the place is very rustic and quaint. Would rate much higher except for two issues: 1. The credit card surcharge. This is becoming more commonplace and annoying. Credit card fees are a part of doing business - you eat them or go to cash only. 2. Lots of disabled parking out front. Shovel or salt them. I saw one old lady in a walker trying to negotiate the ice and it looked dangerous. It had been over a week since the last snow - if you don't want to shovel the whole lot - I understand, but sprinkle $1 worth of salt out front so you don't kill an old disabled person. read more

MJC is more than okay by me! The coffee was better than average, but the real story here is the food which clearly lives up to other MJ standards (if you know you know). The oat fruit scone will inevitably draw us back to town, even though it's a 5 hrs drive. GET TWO!!! Avocado toast was plain in the best way with memorable bread which also framed the ham-egg sammie. Since we were road tripping, we also got wraps for later in the day. Good Golly Moose Molly, we were dead. We had the chicken Caesar and turkey cranberry...imagine all are light and fresh. The little market of merch is even cute. Will proudly wear our gear! This is a don't miss. Way way better than it needs to be. This spot has a very small town vibe. It's cute and quant. The staff are also welcoming with smiles. I have been here twice during one of my work trips. The coffee drinks are definitely of quality. I was; however, not a fan of their hot chocolate or sandwiches. I had the pesto panini last time and this time I had a southwest wrap. Neither food items were great in taste. Plus prices are slightly in the high end. I have also tried a variety of the their cookies and I have had better for sure. I would recommend this spot for a coffee break! read more

Really loving this place. Find ourselves heading there every time we visit Iron Mountain. Beautiful selection of coffees, salads, wraps, sandwiches, soups and teas. Plus, we love their flatbread pizza. We don't have a favorite - try something new every time. Plus - we feel safe eating inside - with everyone wearing masks and tables social distanced. Went in for a lunch with my family. You'd think with all of the combinations on the menu they would have some plant based options. I ended up ordering a salad with no meat or cheese. It came with no dressing and still had meat and cheese on it. If your only plant based option is a normal menu item with things removed it's not impressive. Try harder- it's not the 90's. read more

Their coffee is pretty decent and I like the atmosphere overall. Most of the staff is very friendly, my only complaint is with the pricing and staffing. I go most Saturday mornings, and they consistently have a line almost out the door and only 2 people working in front (1 at the register, 1 making drinks). They need at least 3 people working that day and they're losing business because of it. I see a lot of customers walk out the door because they don't want to wait, and it's annoying to wait a long time when it's so obvious an additional person needs to be staffed Saturday mornings. The food is super good, but a bit overpriced. They don't buy any of their ingredients locally, yet for the portion size the prices are much higher than other local businesses. read more

Salads and wraps are great. Coffee is good, if overpriced. I had a scone that was good. I've been here many times. The atmosphere is nice. Three suggetions. First ... eat-in half salads are served stuffed in a tiny carton (like a fast food hamburger shell.) It's impossible to eat or even apply the dressing. Second ... "Italian soda" is not Sprite with flavoring added lol. !!! Finally ... Today it was below zero outside and when we walked in the cashier was wearing a coat (we figured because she was across from the door). The heat was out/malfuctioning!! We had an unpleasant lunch with our coats on (as everyone else did). The bathroom was colder than an outhouse!! Their heater was being repaired. Let people know ... or offer complimentary small coffees or cocoa. What a fail. read more

I was a little taken aback when I ordered a small latte and slice of cheesecake and got to the register to find it was over $10. The latte was great, probably near the top for lattes of experienced, but the $6 slice of cheesecake is what ruined it. First of all, $6 for a slice of cheesecake is what you pay in NYC at a special bakery. Next, and this is personal preference, the cheesecake was so sweet it actually made it hard to eat. Ordered a slice of quiche, a small peppermint mocha latter and a breakfast sandwich and was shocked when they said my total was $26!! If that wasn't bad enough, the food took absolutely forever. Then, my quiche had the BIGGEST piece of EGGSHELL in it! I crunched right into it in the third bite of quiche and immediately spit it into a napkin. I was shocked. How do you miss a huge chunk of eggshell like that?! It was literally the size of a thumb nail. I kindly told the lady at the register who just lamely apologized and asked if I wanted another piece. Since it was the only option for vegetarians, like myself, I grimly said okay I'll try another piece and hopefully I had the only piece with eggshell in it. She then gave it to me without saying anything else and went about her business. If I was the owner, I would've came out and talked to the customer, or comped the meal, or gave a free coupon for next time or SOMETHING. But nothing! So disappointing and I will NOT be back. Also, my peppermint mocha tasted nothing like peppermint and nothing like mocha. Either they accidentally made me a plain latte or they just don't know how to make coffee. I kinda hate small town America. However, employees at Moose Jackson remember your name and greet you when you come in. That to me makes me want to come back. Their flavored coffee is delicious (Pecan Sticky Bun, Michigan Cherry, and Jamaica-Me-Crazy are my favorite) Their scones are awesome (Oat Fruit Scone my fav). The cookies are awesome & HUGE (Oatmeal chocolate - YUM). Their food is fresh & delicious. Very Veggie sandwich [FAV]...their salads...their panini's....their chicken & dumpling soup... Yes, they have some REALLY GOOD menu items. And there is a variety of seating inside & out...which is nice :) LOVE THIS CAFE!! Price is higher than some, cheaper than others. This place was great. The owner was on site and was very helpful. I ordered a salad that had roasted sweet potatoes , chicken, pecans & cranberries with a vinaigrette. Wish that we could mark 10 stars. This place is so laid back, quiet atmosphere. Good food, awesome cold, hot drinks. I love their lemonade with lavender and my daughter loved her dragon fruit drink. We both had the same lunch, a chicken artichoke panini. That was out of this world delicious. Definitely going to be back again. We love our mother and daughter get away.
