Cute place, great ambience, god awful food. Thai Bistro calling its food Thai is like Domino's calling their food fine Italian. Similar ingredients, 0 quality. And it is NOT cheap. The Tom Kha soup was so sweet it tasted like ice cream with mushrooms and a few small strips of meat floating around. The wonton soup like chicken flavored dish water. I AM NOT EXAGGERATING ! Someone send Gordon Ramsay to yell at them! An absolute nightmare. Potstickers weren't potstickers, more like greasy deep-fried perogis. I tried to exchange the items for different items and the dishes got worse with each try. I neither ate nor took home any of the food. I spent $70 and went home hungry. All the locals say "I could've told you that place was bland and awful! "How is this place in business still? Money laundering? There's no other explanation. we did get a veggie dish that was ok, fresh vegetables but it was half cold. We got extra spicy but there was 0 spice. I asked if the chef was white, maybe that would explain the flavorless food? No, he is from Mexico. The service was terrible as well. Our waitress didn't even come to check on us or refill our waters even once even though almost no one other customers. Was really disappointed with my meal, though my friends were happy with theirs. The pad thai tasted like ketchup and sweet and sour sauce and not pad thai (it was pink like that too). Walked in to a restaurant with 5 tables occupied and 4 servers working. Waited for 15 mins with menus and not once did we get a drink order or even a Hi, we will be right there. We were just in town one night and decided to try 151 because of the good reviews. It was a bit disappointing. We ordered the following: * Potstickers: They were pretty good and very full. Cooked with a nice crisp. * Pad See Ewe: Terrible. The flavor was non-existent, but it stunk like fish. The tofu was like a wet sponge with no flavor. Assuming multiple because there was no sauce. * Roasted Duck Curry: I actually really liked this. The flavors were on point and the duck was perfectly cooked. I really liked the pineapple in it. Last time I was in Iron Mountain, I ended up at Culver's. Boo. Had I just driven down Stephenson a little further, I would have found actual restaurants, instead of settling for what was right in front of my hotel. Surprise! 151 Thai Bistro also has sushi!!!! Their Thai food is very spicy and authentic, and their sushi rolls are a nice addition. And everything was very reasonably priced. So I needed to find somewhere to go to celebrate my girlfriend Sam promotion and she loves Thai so we chose to go here. We frequently drive pass the place and never went in so we figure it's something new so why not. To both our surprise it was a great place to eat. The atmosphere was great nice and clean they have a bar and Tvs for sports where I watched some one the game. The waitress was friendly so we had no issues there. Our food came out in a timely manner so that was a plus. I never really had Thai but I wanted shrimps so I just chose to go with something that looked good on the menu so I went with the pad see eew. I was scared they was gonna have small shrimp u know like in fried rice at the Chinese store so I got extra. Was no need the shrimp was nice sized. It was amazing def my new favorite Thai dish. My girlfriend loved pad Thai so she got the beef and loved it also. I loved hers also. We got crab Rangoon for a appetizer that also was amazing. "Coconut Prawns" were Walmart shrimp on a stick "Avocado Garden Rolls" were bagged salad rolled in rice paper Phad Thai was inedible after the first few bites. What a nice surprise in iron mountain. We thought we'd need to opt for Jimmy John's, but the larb is fantastic, the pad thai is light and tasty, the pad prek (we think) fresh and spicy. So glad we stopped here. Hint: try it with barrel and beam saison. read more

Pleasantly surprised. I had the 3-meat (pork, beef, and chicken) stir fry with curry sauce. Generous portion (see photo). It was very flavorful, but the hotness indicator should have had two (or three) peppers - very spicey. So if you don't like heat, I wouldn't recommend anything indicated with that label. I love Thai food and have had better. The tempura was hard and over cooked. The vegetable curry dish I ordered said it was mildly spicy- very wrong. My lips were burning and I can handle spice. I didn't each much of it. The pho was bland, but the portion was great. My daughter did not get what she ordered, but liked it. The other glowing reviews confuse me. Best Thai stateside? Better than Chicago Thai? Sure, I only tried one dish here, a pineapple curry, but it is the least authentic Thai I've ever had. As for my curry dish, I asked for extra veggies and things like celery and cabbage showed up in the dish and NO Thai eggplant. Very weird. Here's a tip: Ditch the celery and add some Thai eggplant. The veggies themselves were overcooked to a mushy texture. The curry sauce itself was very thin and not flavorful, not sure there was any coconut milk anywhere near the dish. I'd guess it was slightly thickened broth. It did have a few pieces of kaffir lime leaf and even less lemongrass which gave me some hope when I first stirred the bowl, but it was not nearly enough to flavor the dish. My companion had something that sounded like Pad Kaprow based on the ingredients but had a very generic english name. Indeed, when it was delivered, it looked like Pad Kaprow but turned out to be a pretty average one. Very thin brown sauce. We suspect there was no kaprow basil in it and instead with Thai or maybe even regular basil. Granted, they didn't call it kaprow, possibly with good reason. Lastly, the check came at the end with fortune cookies. Hmmm. Overall, seemed like someone took Chinese food and tried to make it Thai. It didn't really work at all. The only plus to some might be the pretty generous serving size. For me, I'd rather have less but better food. If I lived in town (I don't), I would give the place another shot (try another dish) but if you are traveling through and want authentic Thai, I don't think I would take a chance. read more

Verrrrry good Thai food. Menu had lots of selections. We had the Pad Thai with peanut sauce and Mango Curry. Seasoned well. Then for dessert we tried the sticky rice with coconut ice cream drizzled with honey. Awesome! So glad we have this new option in town. read more

Seeing Thai food in the UP is surprising enough, but really GOOD Thai food in the UP?? I thought that would be impossible! This was better than a lot of the Thai places I have eaten at in Chicago-and we are snobby picky eaters in Chicago! I had the peanut curry with tofu, but also tried some of the panang curry and some kind of fried rice and all three were delicious. Also had the appetizer plate with multiple apps on it (can't remember what it was called) and it was great. Also, the servers are all really nice! I am so thankful there is a Thai restaurant in Iron Mountain. This place is really about as good as it gets for any city. They recently added Pho dishes to the menu, and they are to die for. So we stopped in here about 6:30 on a Sunday night and the place was empty which is totally a shame based on the food we had. The staff was great. Our waitress, Sarah, took great care of us. The menu is extensive but not crazy. The veggies in our food were freshly cut and the portions were good. $22 for a good dinner for two. We had a dish that was rated at 2 out of 4 on their spice scale and it had a good level of heat. Looking forward to trying a curry next time we are back in town. 4 stars read more
