My 1990 Ford 150 wouldn't start so I had it towed to Moose's. Fairly quickly, they diagnosed a broken fuel tank switch that kept the fuel from either tank from getting to the engine. In no time at all I was back to pick up my pick up and everything runs fantastic. This is the third time I've had my truck in their shop and three times I've been pleased with their communication, timeliness and the final cost of the repairs. I waited a month before posting this to see how the repair on my Toyota held up. Perfectly. Faced with a very expensive repair, I found a suggested and well-proven method that reduced the estimated repair time significantly (as in from 20 hours to 3 or 4!) I talked with the folks at Moose's and they were agreeable to at least try the alternate method. Long story short, they did, it worked, they found and replaced another potential source of problems. The end result was a great running vehicle and a repair bill that was reduced by thousands of dollars. Mr. Raymond "Moose" Weatherford is a shotty evil Businessman, who will reap what he sows, and I will tell you why. My dad, who literally JUST lost his wife, brought her car in for repairs on warranted parts. (I am posting this on behalf of my dad as he is "old school" and does not do computers and I want everyone to know about MOOSE and how they practice business. When I use the word MOOSE I mean Moose Auto Tech and any of it's employee's. When I use Moose I mean the person known as Raymond "Moose" Weatherford. Upon retrieval of the vehicle my dad asked twice for paperwork and was denied with the response being they were short staffed and couldn't provide it. My dad left MOOSE and noticed a crack in the windshield, he immediately turned around to ask MOOSE what happened to his windshield. My dad went into MOOSE and asked what had happened to his windshield, there was a crack that was not there when he dropped it off. One of the employees directed my dad to Moose's office. My dad asked what happened to my windshield, there is a crack that was no there when I dropped it off. Moose replied with well there was already a chip and it was really cold last night. Basically insinuating that there was a frost that then caused the chip to spiderweb out. First it was NOT cold enough to freeze. Second there is no web effect, that usually occurs when a chip freezes then cracks in this manner. The lead technician, Steve, even admitted that he didn't notice the crack until he test drove the car, after the repairs were made. They test drove the car before the repairs were made. Steve didn't notice the crack then because there was no crack. Then Moose tells my dad that he has a guy that does glass and would give him a deal on the windshield. My dad got an uneasy feeling like he was trying to be swindled and knew that Moose was not going to take responsibility for what occurred in his shop just by his demeanor, body language. It is usually BEST PRACTICE when people drop off vehicles to note existing damage so situations like this don't occur. It is usually BEST PRACTICE to have a means to protect your business, not this day. My dad didn't think too much of it because he has been going here for years and has never had a problem, now he wishes he would've insisted on some type of paperwork when he dropped the car off and when he picked it up. Moose's response and reaction was very disappointing coming from a business person. When I called to speak to him on the phone he tried to give me the same story about the cold but then I told him that I know it takes a real freeze to crack a chip in a windshield, then he redacted and said he never said that. He explained to me that they normally don't give paperwork on warranted items. OK?... I asked him if a patron requests paperwork do you provide it, he said usually not on warranted parts but he would create paperwork for it. That was not offered to my dad and he asked for paperwork twice. Then Moose admitted that Steve, his lead technician informed him that the crack was not there before. So I then asked him about his lead technician Steve. Steve even admits there was no crack in the windshield, he must be lying then? Moose said he was not responsible for it. Moose said he was not responsible for it even if the crack happened when his technician test drove it. There was already a chip in the window. Moose then hung up on me. Correct there was a CHIP, not a crack. Even after the LEAD TECHNICIAN admitted to no crack before Moose still denied responsibility. This person, because I cannot call him a man. A man, especially business man would be accountable and responsible for what occurs in his place of business. NOT Moose. Moose did try to call back and talk to my dad, why? Moose stated he wasn't responsible. Moose is a BULLY and my dad had no desire to get on phone to be bullied and talked to how this business person talked to me. And I have no doubts that his business is already suffering which is why he is trying to pull shady moves on GOOD people. And his business will continue to suffer because of his tactics. There is NO HONOR and NO INTEGRITY at this place I have no doubts that he will be out of business within 1 year. Not worth the time or the money for court but I will, every opportunity I get, tell anyone I can about MOOSE Auto Tech. I am now going to write the Better business Bureau. read more

My car was leaking oil all over the place, so I brought it to the Moose auto tech on December 1st to have it fixed. I received a call from the Moose telling me that my oil cap was broken and my under belly needed to be replaced. When i went to pick up my car, the mechanic said what they had done to the car, which was replaced, the oil cap and the under belly, and that I was good to go. The mechanic also explained that they washed off as much oil as they could off of my engine and that the rest would burn off. I folded up my invoice and stuck it in my glove box, thinking that my car was fixed. 1 1/2 months later, my check engine light came on, which was January 22, 2023. I proceeded to check my oil because i could smell something burning under the hood of the car but the oil was completly gone out of my cars engine so I ran over to a auto store so that i could grab 2 quarts of oil to put into my car. At this point, my check engine light was still on, so i took the car back to Moses the very next day, January 23, 2023, so that they could fix it. As I'm trying to tell the mechanic what was going on with my car he cuts me off and proceeded to start arguing with me and telling me that I was told to get the engine power washed and brought back to get it checked. I told him no, I wasn't, and what he told me when I originally brought it in, which was I was good to go, and the rest of the oil will burn off. The guy said to me" well I don't know what you want me to tell you cause you were told to get the car engine power washed and bring it back but you didn't, good luck" and hung up on me. I arrived with my vehicle at Moose, and his whole attitude changed to a more positive one. Later that morning, I received a call from moose stating that my oil filter housing needed to be replaced. I then looked at my original invoice from December 1st and read that they knew that the oil housing filter needed to be replaced but only charged me for an oil cap and under belly and didn't replace the oil housing filter. Moose insisted on arguing that he told me to get it power washed and brought back. So i ended up getting an invoice from Moose so that I could take it to another auto shop so it could get fixed correctly. I received a call from the other auto shop saying that when they spoke to Moose, they asked him where did you get the part from for my car, and Moose told him from the dealer. The other auto shop told him that he was lying because that particular part from the dealer is way more than i was quoted, and they don't make aluminum oil housing filters. Moose then hung up on the other auto shop when asked again, "Where did you get this part from?" The auto shop said that they think he's getting the part from Amazon, yes folks you heard right AMAZON and not the dealership. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE BECAUSE YOU'LL JUST BE RETURNING AGAIN FOR THE SAME THING BECAUSE THEIR PARTS ARE COMING FROM AMAZON, WHY IS THIS PLACE STILL IN BUSINESS ANYWAYS? We had a great experience here! My husband's car refused to start and started smoking after work one day so we had it towed over to Moose's. In general we like to support locally owned businesses, and this just happened to work out well since it is so close to JBLM. My husband was able to speak with the owner directly and his car was fixed quickly and at a very reasonable price. We appreciated the communication we received about his car and what it needed to get back on the road. The quote we received was accurate and that's always helpful when trying to budget for a repair. Moose's is great because I really don't know enough about automotive to be skeptical at the mechanic, and they didn't abuse that trust. My first time coming to them and the staff treated me with respect, and were way honest. The owner's son has his Boy Scout patches on the wall, and he still honors those values. Seems like their ethics game is strong in the shop. I thought I had an electrical grounding issue, and they really could've spent all day tearing apart my car and racking up the hourly rate, but in 30 minutes they found the problem. Exceptional service by honest people. I went in and made an appointment to have my air conditioner's Freon looked into. Somehow between last summer and this spring it went out. They were able to fit me in the very next week in the morning after another appointment I had. The waiting area is pretty cozy. I grew up in car shops due to my dad's business and I can honestly say, Moose's has one of the best waiting areas. Leather couch and seat along with a window bar with barstools for additional seating. There's also a Keurig for coffee and tea. I noticed there's at least one shop dog -a very cute pug -that they keep in the back, but somehow snuck his way into the waiting room. I spoke with Daniel for most of my appointment. He made sure to give me constant updates on what was going on with my vehicle. We found out that the Freon was out, because there was a huge leak. I wasn't thrilled about spending the extra money, but these things happen and when I bought my car, I also tacked on a 3-year warranty, which was still good. Daniel was able to get my warranty out of the glove box to look over to see if the work I needed would be covered. Moose took the time to call the company directly, which was great, because I hate making those kind of calls and trying to figure that stuff out. Out of the approximately $1100 of work needed, my warranty covered over $700. I expected to have to make another appointment and come back, but their supplier had the parts on hand and I was reassured that they could do the work that day. Not only did they get started on the work that day, but they completed it an hour before they closed! What I was quoted was what I paid. Everyone at Moose's was friendly, helpful, honest, and accommodating. These people are very honest and do great work. My air conditioner is working great and I've had zero problems since they fixed it about two months ago. I had decided to try Moose's when I was looking for a new place nearby the house I bought so as not to be driving all around town. I wanted someone nearby and trustworthy. I found them on Yelp and decided to give them a try. I had read other comments that said they treated the military community well and I believe they do based on the number of service men and women I saw come and go while I was there. Moose's auto tech worked on my truck while I was in Lakewood over 3 years ago. I was IMPRESSED by the fast, highly satisfactory job they did and the estimate was exactly what I was charged (that's rare!). No surprises! Sadly, I live in Seattle now, but when I have a costly repair estimate here, I call Moose and drive the hour or more to Lakewood. Moose ALWAYS beats the price. But price isn't the real reason I make the drive. I've NEVER had a problem with any work or parts from Moose's and I trust him to get it right! His work and his word are both A1. It's a great place to get an oil change. The place is clean with a lot of vintage items. It's almost like walking into a museum. The people are kind, never forget to say how was your day. They charge $76 for full synthetic, but it's a great price to keep your car maintain for a long time and they get the job done pretty well. In addition they also send you a car performance report at 0 cost!!! I recommend this place to all my friends and strangers here too. I'm never going to any other sketchy place ever again. read more

I had an appointment to get a lift kit installed on my truck they said oh no problem just bring it in before we install it so we can look at it made the appointment ordered the parts got the parts the day before install called them to verify my install and they said they would not be willing to do it after I had already paid for the equipment didn't even give me a chance to bring it by to take a look at it before they installed it. I needed to have my car inspected because I was selling it and a potential buyer who lives in the area wanted to buy it as long as it had no major issues that would require expensive repairs. The potential buyer was only going to be home on the weekend and so I needed to find an auto shop in the area that could inspect the car during the weekend. Most auto shops are closed on weekends, and the few that are open are usually booked at least a week in advance. So when I was searching for auto shops that were open on weekends and found Moose's, I immediately called them (it was Friday afternoon) to see if there was any possible way they could squeeze me in on Saturday. To my surprise, they said no problem! I got on the road a little later than I had planned and on the drive over I accidentally took the wrong exit off I5 and didn't realize it until I had driven like 20 miles in the wrong direction (no, I was not drunk, just a little distracted). By the time I got there I was an hour late for my appointment. I fully expected them to say I would have to come back on Monday, but they were still able to squeeze me in! About an hour later they had completed the inspection and gave me a rundown of what they found and approximately how much it would cost to have repaired. And the price they charged me for the inspection was more than reasonable. I would definitely recommend them, whether you need to get in on a Saturday with very short notice or otherwise. read more

How can I express how much I love these folks? They have rescued me many times over the past decade when my car wouldn't start, and yesterday was no exception. I am so lucky I was in Tillicum when my battery decided to die without warning. They came quickly and jump started the car with no expectation I would come to their shop for service but of course I did. Two and a half hours later, the battery was charged, tested, confirmed dead and replaced, and as usual, I was barely charged for their labor. I can't recommend them highly enough. They have gone out of their way more than once to save me money when I've had to buy parts. I've been bringing my car here for a couple of years. Every time I bring my car here they find some reason to charge me at least a couple hundred dollars, and yet my car seems to drive worse after them fixing whatever they say is the problem. So a while ago my car started making a screeching sound. I brought it here and they changed a bunch of belts and charged me $300. A month later my car was screeching even louder than it was before. I took it back to them for an oil change and to see if they would address the fact that my car was screeching even louder than it was before I brought it there. They didn't even mention it. So my coworker suggests I take it to his mechanic. Turns out that the reason it was screeching so loud was because whoever changed the belts the last time moose so called "fixed" my car didn't tighten the bolts causing the water pump belt to be loose causing my power steering to not work and making the screeching sound. I will never bring my car to this place again. I'm glad I finally found an honest, trustworthy mechanic because moose auto tech is completely taking advantage of women and those poor soldiers that don't know any better and bring there cars here for the convenience and proximity to the military bases. read more

I brought my Nissan Altima in and the day after they fixed it, a hose that was not fastened correctly came off while I was driving on 512 and all of the oil came out of my engine filling my car with smoke. Moose's automotive came and towed it, and fixed it and then CHARGED ME for towing. I paid half and then had another mechanic look into what had happened. My new mechanic discovered that Mooses used the wrong spark plugs for my vehicle and I had to have all the work redone. Then Moose called AND DEMANDED I Pay the remainder of the TOWING. I refused. Moose's is a den of dishonest shysters. Took my old truck there and asked them to just find the leak in my A/C system, as I had other work to do on the A/C system before repairing it. When I picked my truck up later they said they had found the leak and recharged the system, which they charged me for. I had not wanted the system charged. A day later all the A/C refrigerant leaked out; they had not, in fact, fixed the leak. I had to use my truck for work and could not leave it there again. We'll start with the fact that my husband is not easy on vehicles at all....so it was no surprise to me when our brakes started grinding...metal on metal. We hadn't even had the vehicle for a year! He had already murdered the brakes. I then started a quest to find a mechanic that was both good at his job and affordable for our military budget. I read reviews here on Yelp and google...and still could not find anything that gave me that warm feeling of "THAT's my mechanic". I called around and encountered people that didn't even seem like they knew anything about cars....and people who's prices were OUTRAGEOUS!!!! I finally told my husband of my frustrations and he says "we'll just take it to Moose's". WHAT? Seriously? I was so upset that he had already chosen our mechanic without discussing it with me...since surprisingly enough..I know more about cars than he does. Apparently he had been taking military vehicles to them all summer. I was hesitant to trust his pick, but we took our dear Fluffy there anyways. Not only were they awesome mechanics, but they are cool people....the owner has the most adorable little fleet of pugs....AND they have great prices! For those soldiers out there...they also offer a military discount....which makes their already affordable prices THAT much better. After going to Firestone & the Honda dealership... I decided to shop around because I was told that the repairs on my car would cost me $1300 for a serpentine belt, 2 tires and front brakes. I checked about 5 other small businesses before I decided to go with Moose's. By the way... He gives military discount! So I paid $60 less than the estimate he gave me!!! I spoke to Moose on the phone before I went in. He put together an estimate, saved it, until I could come in. I finally go in a week later, and he has his guys do a full inspection on the car. He treats me very well. Didn't talk to me condescendingly because I'm a woman, and didn't try to sell me something I didn't need. After the inspection was done on my car, he went over the priorities of what should be fixed immediately. My front brakes were GONE. He also told me the serpentine belt was worn, but did tell me that if I couldn't get it done right away, I still had maybe a month before it got to a point where it became unsafe. I was told by Firestone and Honda that it would snap at anytime and I should get all the work done that day. They also discovered my rear brakes were bad, which Honda & Firestone never mentioned. So I appreciated the thoroughness of the work do e at Moose's. I got my front brakes and serpentine belt done that day. It only took 2 hours for everything. So I was pleased I wasn't stuck there past lunch. I will also add that Moose is very kind individual who takes care of the people in his community. I witnessed him tell one of his guys to give the customer after me, who was homeless and slept in her car, a ride to the laundromat while she waited for a diagnostic on her car, and they picked her back up. You don't see kindness like that anymore. Moose also got me the best estimates on tires. I will be back to get rear brakes and tires from him. I highly recommend his shop! read more

I havent been to Moose's in a while. Which is a great thing! With that being said. Let me share a story with you, this comes from one of my many good experiences with Moose's auto tech. A while after they did some awesome work to one of my cars. (fixed everything that i took it in for and was running like new) a week later I had some other issue's that were unrelated. Moose had all his mechanics stop what they were doing to diagnose the issue's troubling my car. They spent about an hour of their time with my car. they found a few things, and fixed the all of the issue's to include what I wanted them to diagnose in the first place. So after they found all this stuff, which was like small issue's easily fixed. Not only did they fix them on the spot. But Moose, when I asked how much the damage would is. (the bill) He said there was no charge. I was a bit shocked considering they fixed a bunch of small issue's, gave up shop time. But yeah he wasnt worried about it. In conclusion. Moose's Auto tech is always my first choice for motor work that i dont feel like doing. He is a very smart individual and his crew as as equally smart and competent at what they do as he is. I will always take my vehicles to his shop because i know i will never be taking it back for the samething issue because they couldnt fix it the first time. If you are going there you should feel confident that you will leave with your car in 100% working order. Took my car here just to get their estimate and they came back telling me my entire transmission was shot, clutch, drive differential, something about a Covid-19 ventilation system, and that my "radio sounds rough" LOFL! I was warned by my Portland mechanic that my water pump was leaking, and it needed to be replaced... 2.5 years ago. I delayed making the change and then one day I was driving back from Seattle when it finally gave out near Tacoma. Luckily, I knew what was wrong, pulled over, and shut the engine off right away. I didn't know anything about Tacoma mechanics. I followed the advice from my tow truck driver, who recommended Moose's Tillicum Auto Tech. I am very glad I brought my car to this shop. The guys found out that I was stranded and paying for a hotel room. They had the water pump replaced with a higher quality part than what was in the car previously. They also replaced the timing belt and, at my request, replaced the cabin air filter and performed a full tune up that was also due. All the work was finished in a one day and at a great price. It is now several months later. My girlfriend and I made it home safely, and the car has been running fantastic ever since. I get better gas mileage, and the engine sounds great. The work is warrantied through a NAPA network of mechanics for a year. I really like this idea. After this experience, I would gladly recommend Moose's shop. Trustworthy, awesome people. read more
