A MILLION OUT OF TEN, DO RECOMMEND!…read more We've been having some car issues for a few months, and unfortunately, we've been screwed over at other local shops that have a) lied to us about actual issues to try and get us to pay more, b) have had insane prices. Normally I take to Yelp for everything (duh), but I decided to post in a local Facebook mom's group about our recent issues in search of a mechanic that is tried, true, and reliable. River City Repair was suggested by another local mom, and from there it was less than a WEEK that we had our car up and running with no shady business done. Mark, the owner, actually owns two tow trucks and was able to come tow my vehicle for an incredibly affordable price to the shop. Not only that, but they called me their next business day before 9am with a diagnosis and price. From approving the fixes to the car being ready (and there was a laundry list) it took 48 hours.... 48 HOURS! They worked incredibly fast for the work that needed to be done. And for 8 total things that needed to be fixed (a couple that were major and made it so we couldn't drive the car), we were out the door for parts and labor for less than $2,500. My husband was dumbfounded at their honesty and affordability after a year of dealing with car issues/shady businesses between the two of us. We were ready to throw in the towel and scrap the car and just buy something new even though we reallllly didn't want to, so I am SO glad I posted on that page and was introduced to River City Repair. I met Mark's wife, Tana, over Facebook and she was the one who put all of the gears into motion to get us scheduled to even offering a one-time free diagnostic to help out a local fellow mom. Mark personally drove the truck to pick our car up and he was such a kind, personable guy - even down to showing our two year old truck-obsessed son a few things on the tow truck (and totally making his day). Mark made a comment about his clients becoming like family, and I can TOTALLY see why. They're such great, honest people and this is the epitome of a small local business being a pillar in their community. Hands down we have found our go-to shop. I think we can actually handle this! I am breathing much easier, and my shoulders are dropping. I didn't know that regulating one's nervous system could be done by an auto shop! O_O We reached out to RCR because of these positive reviews. They really help - write reviews, people! We are looking for a mechanic we can truly get behind and be loyal to. We also want to be able to wholeheartedly recommend to friends, family, and clients (I'm a mental health counselor and my clients are almost all struggling, too!). It is SUCH a thing, the treasure of finding an upstanding and authentic mechanic (and wife)! Once they evaluated the problem they called with an estimate they were able to get it fixed within 24hrs. They also made several calls to me informing me of the progress. I felt that they were very honest and never tried to up charge me for anything. Apex even topped off all of my fluids at no additional charge. I would highly recommend Apex Auto and I will be using them as my permanent mechanic.

As far as inadequate estimates, I brought my car in to have the brakes replaced for two front wheels (pads, rotors and calipers) estimated at just over $1000 - they informed me in the shop. I allowed them to do the job and when finished, final bill was over $1400. Wow, nice "estimate"! I have fired them for any further services and I only gave two stars because they seem highly trained and knowledgeable mechanics and got the job done quick (within couple of hours) but honesty and better communication regarding estimates or costs go a long way for happier customers. I took my 2500 duramax in here a few months ago to have new tires and rims placed on it. I asked if…read morethey were compatible to which they said yes. I get the tires replaced, they do an alignment and they pull my truck out, nearly an hour and a half longer than they told me it would be. Before I leave, I tell them that my TPMS isn't showing any readings. The guy tells me to drive it a few times and the sensors should restore. So I take his word and leave. Of course the sensors never restore and NOW I have an ABS error and a trailer break error as well as a shaking wheel when going above 50mph. So I call and make another appointment. They tell me that the ABS error and trailer brake error had nothing to do with them, but to bring it in and have it realigned. These errors have NEVER shown up until the moment they pulled it out of their garage for the first time. They look at it again and tell me that they reset the sensors and everything should be working fine, and that they've redone the alignment. Again, I leave the store without tire sensors working with the promise it will work after a few drives. Of course, the sensors never return but the alignment is better. I call once again and make another appointment. This time they tell me that the TPMS needs to be replaced, after I was told that everything was compatible on the first tire change. They tell me it's going to cost me another couple hundred to have the TPMs done. They did end up giving me a discount, so I had them install the TPMS anyway. As well as fixing the alignment for the THIRD time. Again, another 1.5 hours longer than they said. Finally, my TPMS works, my alignment is good, BUT my trailer brake system and ABS are still showing errors. I took it to another shop and it turns out they did break my sensors during install of the new tires and rims. WHICH THEY DENIED HAVING ANY PART OF. AVOID THIS SHOP AT ALL COSTS. They don't respect your time, they charge more than any shop in the area, and they deny when things are caused by them. I went in for a tire and rim replacement and ended up going in 3-4 times to have things redone. Take it to someone else. If you're a woman who drives a truck they'll treat you like you're incompetent. I've been told by other shops that they've stopped recommending this place because of their frequent unnecessary repairs, overcharging, and damaging vehicles.

After 2-3 hours of testing, the report says no leak is detected, and they "suspect" that "EVAP pump module has failed internally", so they need to replace my entire EVAP canister assembly with pump module =))), how absurd. And the whole thing cost $2k for a minor issue with code P0456. I called in and took my car home, while paying them $200 for diagnostic just to receive an unsure result. If this is a service you would want for your car in 2026 where there are so many better out there, please go ahead.

Otherwise, save your pocketbook and your time and look further to find an automotive repair shop that will do that. Timing is also an issue. Time and money. Everyone wants to save time and money. Businesses are in the business of making money or they cannot stay in business. A legitimate and on the level business owner also acknowledges that without transparency, and fair marketing and pricing, they might have an individual's business one time but they will not receive an individual's repeat business. Some businesses play the numbers game and believe that if they can entice thousands of individual's willing to take their business to them at least once and pay them for an estimate, they will stay in business. Unfortunately this new model business practice of getting a customer in the door, if only one time, is becoming the norm.
