The main part of the house is very small but nice with little stocking of the beverage "amenities". First impression of the room was disappointing for several reasons but the main first impression was that it was not cleaned well nor do the owners care if it's cleaned well. The bathroom was the first real impression where a filthy shower mat hung on the towel rack, the hand towel had crust on it and a dried, unwashed blood stain on the comforter. iTrip, who is "managing" this place was very prompt about returning my emails UNTIL I responded to THEIR email asking about my stay. Crickets. I'll include photos. There are plenty of other gorgeous places to stay in Lincoln....don't give your money to Red Sleigh Inn.

Please read about the changes…read more We booked the Red Sleigh Inn seven months ago because we were planning a trip to the area and we love B&Bs and have stayed at many. What attracted us to this facility was its outstanding reputation. However, exactly one week (7/11/22) before we were supposed to arrive, we received an email that Red Sleigh was under new ownership and there were going to be changes. We could not cancel because it was less than 30 days. Here are the changes: 1. Nobody would be at the facility to greet you. Nope, no personal friendly greeting to welcome you like we were used to in the past. They sent you a passcode for the front door and your room. You have to call a property managing company if there is an issue. 2. You receive ONE set of towels per person for stay. We stayed three days and originally only got one washcloth, one hand towel, and one bath towel per person, until we complained and we each got a second set. 3. NO BREAKFAST ANYMORE!!! I guess they left off one B in B&B. They did give us a voucher of $20 a day for the Moon Cafe to get a small breakfast. I do not know if this service is going to continue. We got it because we booked before the change. The room was clean. There was a coffee station and candy station which were kept full by attendants who showed up daily to clean vacated rooms. If you like the AirBnB experience while sharing the facility with other couples, then by all means enjoy. We prefer the true B&B experience with the home cooked breakfast and somebody there to greet you.

Ed's house turned out to be the perfect place for this when my girlfriend and I stayed this past August. The property is beautiful, featuring 160 acres of White Mountain forest and trails. The jacuzzi, which overlooks the mountains in the backyard is the perfect retreat after a long days hike. The view of the mountains and stars from there is serene. During the day of our stay, my girlfriend and I trekked into the woods, found a spot nearby a creek and setup a fire. Ed is about 20 minutes from the town of Lincoln, where we visited to buy fresh milk (raw), ice cream, cheese and wine. Overall I felt very welcome in Ed's home and enjoyed experiencing his part of the world for a few days. I would gladly visit again!

The kitchen area and living room space were great, we cooked our dinner together and even watched a movie with the DVD player provided. The only downside to the cabin was that it was really cold in the living room area. We could feel the chilly air coming through the windows and ice was forming on the windows within the cabin. We bundled up and made the best of the cabin at night. But the freezing weather didn't damper our experience, we're definitely recommending the cabins to our friends and will be back in the summer! Owners Dan & Bill are the sweetest people, they are kind, attentive, and passionate about making their cottages feel like home (but wayyy better)! The entire property has a very magical feel to it. Each little cottage has its own character, and each is cleaned impeccably. You'll have all the things you need to have a wonderful time, don't worry because they've remembered every detail! It's quiet, and charming here, in the summer there is even a pool to take dip in. They provide firewood to have a warm, cozy fireplace. I promise if you stay here, you will be very happy you did. The Gibson House is a lovely bed and breakfast located near Dartmouth College. If you're in the…read morearea and want to stay close to the college but still feel like you're on vacation, this is the place to be. I stayed here several years ago, and apparently the management has changed since then. A quick glance at the website shows that the new staff has still maintained the four original rooms - Bamboo, Lilac, Taj and Day at the Beach - exactly as they were when I was there. The Gibson House was owned by a local artist when I stayed there, and those rooms reflect her vision and taste. The new rooms are the Rialto, the Peacock, La Hacienda and Le Petit Chateau. I'm curious as to where in the house these rooms are, but no matter! As with the original four, these rooms all reflect a different theme and atmosphere. The Rialto and Le Petit Chateau look very similar to me - at least from the pictures on their website - and I'd definitely be curious to return to the Gibson House one day and check out these new additions. Anyway, when I was there I stayed in the Bamboo Room, which I highly recommend. The lovely gold and white wallpaper lends an elegant, gracious atmosphere to the room, and the queen-sized bed, with its white linens and classy, lace-style white headboard, makes you feel as though you've been transported to a hotel in another era. There is also an equally-lovely daybed in this room, so a small family could conceivably stay quite comfortably in the Bamboo Room. The Bamboo Room's amenities include a gorgeous full bathroom, a very classy elegant gold radiator that lends charm, and several big windows that let in a great deal of sunshine. My only caveat when I was there was that the windows did not have shades - just lace curtains. At night when we turned on the bedside lamps, anyone walking outside could have seen into the room, as the Bamboo Room faces the road. But the flip side is that Gibson House is located in Haverhill, N.H., a quaint rural town, and you probably don't have to worry about tons of people walking around the streets at night. Also, when I stayed at the Gibson House there were no TVs in any of the guest rooms. According to the website, digital cable TV can now be brought to the rooms upon request. As we stayed here on an off weekend in early April, we were the only guests and were able to explore the other rooms at our leisure. The Lilac room is across the hall from the Bamboo room and is very pretty; Taj is definitely unique - you've got to love that adorable stuffed tiger, although I'm not sure I would choose that room for my stay; and Day at the Beach, which faces the expansive backyard, is simple and definitely good for families. You can contemplate the backyard from the large porch off of this room, which is great. The house as a whole is lovely. It's always been a gallery/artists' retreat in addition to a B&B, and that tradition apparently continues today. The breakfasts are hearty, and the grounds are beautiful. The views of the Connecticut River Valley are outstanding, the gardens are great in the spring, and the lily pond and fountain are lovely. It's a very quaint house, and provides a relaxing, get-away-from-it-all stay.

We arrived to a note with some basic info and informing us that they upgraded our room for free to the Connecticut room which was a very nice surprise as the upgraded room had a Jacuzzi tub. There were instructions to call the owner to let them know what time we wanted to eat breakfast, we accidentally asked for 10 minutes before they start serving and they did accommodate us. The Inn is very cute and cozy, we made use of some of the available brain teaser puzzles that evening. We were able to adjust the temperature of the room easily. The bed was very comfortable and had plenty of warm blankets. The hot water did take a little while to heat up, we started to worry that the water heater was broken but it if did heat up eventually. In the morning we went out to the breakfast area and the inn keeper told us to pick a table to sit, not exactly warm and welcoming but to the point. The breakfast was decent, the fresh fruit was very nice. The inn keepers didn't seem to be the most outgoing/friendly types but nice enough when we got to talking. There is a little driveway to the Inn which was convenient for dropping off all our stuff before parking in the little lot the next driveway up. Overall we had a great stay, and would recommend the Wilderness Inn for local stays, especially with Waterville Valley and Cannon Mountain so close by.

To put it simply: Business owners that blatantly disregard human life and hide behind their own "policies" as an excuse to pocket hard-earned money from their clientele, do not deserve anyone's patronage. If you are interested in the details of what happened, please feel free to read below: I was greatly looking forward to my stay for the upcoming weekend when I made my booking on Sunday, 7/9; however, devastating storms and unprecedented flash floods swept through most of New England the following day. Upon seeing the damage in my area and on the news, I immediately called the owners at the Wilderness Inn and expressed my concerns about traveling from New York + their location being so close to the Pemigewasset River. They assured me they had no damage, but I reiterated my growing unease given more bad weather was predicted for the weekend I was staying (with the worst of it Friday and Sunday, the days that I would be traveling 5-6 hours or more by car). They insisted everything would be fine, even though there is no way to guarantee safety in such dangerous and unpredictable circumstances like flash flooding. As I was getting ready to start my drive to NH on the morning of Friday, 7/14, my navigation app alerted me of flash flooding along multiple routes. I called the owners and kindly asked if they would be willing to work with me and offer a refund (I even offered to pay a cancellation fee), or allow me the opportunity to reschedule my stay for another weekend since it was a life-threatening weather event and even local authorities were advising against all non-essential travel. Unfortunately, I was met with a cold and callous response. Instead of showing any empathy toward my predicament, they dismissed my concerns and summarily denied my request for a refund or rebooking. They failed to grasp the severity of the weather conditions and continued to insist that it was safe to travel (it was not). After our call, I formally notified them via email that I would not be traveling due to the storms and gave them one last opportunity to reconsider their cancellation policy. Sadly, they went ahead and charged my credit card for the full amount, but not before belaboring that there was "no emergency" in NH (there was). In a time when compassion and understanding should prevail, the owners of the Wilderness Inn showed clear negligence, an alarming lack of responsibility and professionalism, and a shameful disregard for the safety and well-being of their guests. It is frustrating to witness such an abysmal level of customer service. I sincerely hope the owners reconsider their business practices and realize that customer satisfaction and safety should always be the utmost priority, especially in extreme weather events.

The proprietors are charming and gracious, and their dog is affectionate, though at times a little bit crazy. You may have to compete with the dog for space on some of the living room seating options, but this is just part of the charm of the McDinger B&B experience. During the summer, a previous poster's complaint of having to access the bathroom through the proprietors' bedroom is easily addressed by using the "South Hall Washroom" facilities. Just be careful not to lock yourself out of your room if you do so. During the summer months I am a fan of the greater privacy offered by the "South Hall Lounge" rooming option. This option provides guests with their own personal refrigerator and microwave, as well as the choice of three different beds. Hopefully these bedding options will be upgraded soon to better fit the sleeping needs of taller patrons. Sadly, this rooming arrangement is not available year-round due to seasonal infestations of unwanted teenagers. My only reason for not giving a rating of five stars is the uppity nature of the B&B's other patrons. Apparently opting for the less comfortable yet less obtrusive and more private "South Hall Lounge" option makes one a "drifter", whereas I would counter that it is a polite way to share the space and afford the proprietors a degree of privacy and relief from the grueling task of running such a wonderful (and wonderfully priced!) establishment. Furthermore, it is inevitable that one will be subjected to discourse on the brewing of over-priced coffee, articles in The New Yorker, and the latest doucheyness printed on a can of Six Point. If you are not well-versed in these subjects, then gatherings with other patrons may be awkward at times. However, the most impressive thing about our experience was the personal contact with Jody the Owner/Manager. She was accommodating, friendly and really a hands on manager as we saw her out shoveling the sidewalk Saturday during the snowstorm!!! The room was a little small - but sufficient. separate bins for trash (NH rule)- hot water - though sometimes you feel the heat is not sufficient in the room, but i guess its okay. Overall good stays and it's near Mt Washington.

The lodge had a common sitting area but no breakfast ... not even muffins or yogurt, etc. The room and bathroom was super clean and was stocked with nice towels and the upscale shampoo, conditioner and bath gel dispensers. Don't know the quality of the products. So overall great room... high priced at $409. I would not stay there again but appreciate the service offered by Danielle and the comfy bed.
