Dear Darryl, THANK YOU! I have to preface that we did not stay here, so you're probably thinking why the 5-star review? Well, that's because hospitality at this fabulous inn does not extend solely to guests, but also to visitors, even the kind who pop in unannounced. My mother-in-law spent many summers in Meredith as a child in the 1960's! Her great aunt owned the house at the time. She told us stories of running around the wrap-around porch and falling down the stairs and breaking a toe (). Darryl took time to welcome us and allow us a tour as well as time to relive her memories. The beautiful wrap around porch still exists, now with an incredible porch added to enjoy the incredible view. The inn is absolutely beautiful. Darryl then went so far as to offer us WONDERFUL pumpkin muffins made that morning and they were DELICIOUS! This was our first visit to Meredith-- we were in town for a wedding. But let me tell you, we plan to return and hope to stay at the beautiful Ballard House Inn and see Darrell again! Thank you, Darryl, for your kindness and hospitality! read more

Canceled the reservation we made on their direct booking site and did not give us any notice or communication. We have a reservation confirmation and that our reservation deposit was accepted on our credit card. We found that later a credit was posted to our credit card from the Ballard House. We called and spoke with Samantha, who answers their phone, but she could not give us any reason, whether another room was open, or who to speak to about this. She said an email was sent, but we received nothing from them (nothing in our spam box ). BEWARE. You may arrive and have no place to stay because they arbitrarily canceled a reservation they accepted. Very poor business practice read more

We stayed here for the weekend due to it's nearby location to Lake Winnipesaukee and a Gilford concert we were attending. This inn is historical being originally built in 1784. It was also named the best historic inn in New Hampshire and an editor's pick for the Lake Winnipesaukee area by Yankee Magazine. We would agree. The inn is beautiful, well maintained and offers many amenities. The innkeepers are very friendly and accommodating. The homemade breakfasts were delicious. Highly recommended, we will stay here again the next time we visit the Lake area. read more

The inn was a wonderful place to stay. Our plans changed at the last minute due to the illness of our traveling companions, and Bernadette was very accommodating when we changed our travel dates. The inn is historic and very interesting. The back porch has a gorgeous view of the mountains, and we ate their breakfast out there when it was not raining. It was a beautiful setting. The breakfasts were fabulous, and they were very accommodating to dietary needs. The rooms are very nice. For 2 of our 3 nights there, we stayed in a suite which was fabulous. The staff are all very nice and take great care of the guests. The highlight of our stay was meeting Bernadette the inn keeper. She is super nice, very interesting, and takes a great interest in her guests. She knows everything about the area and had great suggestions for tourist sites, restaurants, and anything else you would like to know about. She has a book of menus for her favorite restaurants, and a book documenting the history of the house. read more

In full disclosure, I will say right up front that Feza is an old college buddy of mine. But, I hadn't seen him in 25 years so it was like meeting him all over again! When we found ourselves desperately looking for a leaf-peeping getaway up in New Hampshire during the pandemic, we knew right where to go. We knew Fez would run an outstanding establishment, that he'd be on board with all of the CDC requirements, and that he would expect no less from his guests. All of the above is true, but our stay exceeded our expectations in every way. The Inn itself is a beautiful historic building in a picturesque setting. It has a huge wrap around porch with rockers and benches just begging you to sit and stay a while while enjoying the gorgeous view. Each of the 10 or so rooms is uniquely charming with comfortable beds and private baths. I believe one has an exterior entrance but the rest are accessed through the main house. There's a fireplace in the communal living room to keep you toasty while relaxing on the comfy couches, if that's your thing. Everything was spotless and well attended. For the outdoor enthusiast, you're in a great location. Meredith NH is nestled between Lake Winnipesaukee and Squam Lake right in the heart of the White Mountains. There's hiking, skiing, antiquing, shopping, eating...all right outside your door or within a stone's throw. And besides being a charming host, Feza is a great resource of local information - both dinners and the hikes we did were at his recommendation and all were spot on. Exactly the getaway we needed. Fez puts on his chef hat for the breakfast at the Ballard House - and each day brought a great array of homemade breakfast goodies. He even kindly cooked something special for our extremely picky, whiney, pain in the ass companion (friend of the friend we were traveling with) when we just wanted to boot her out the door. We're hoping to make our weekend getaway an annual thing. It is just so beautiful up there and Fez is so welcoming. It was fun for me to catch up with an old college friend - but even if he isn't yours, you'll feel like he is after a visit to Ballard House. read more

What an absolute gem of a place. The owner was so kind and accommodating and helpful and had great recommendations for us. We loved every second of our stay. Being able to sit on the back deck and take in the beautiful New Hampshire sunset was amazing. Breakfast the next morning was impeccable. She also has the cutest gift shop on property. My wife and I had the pleasure of staying here for a long weekend. Bernadette, the host, was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere was always happy and inviting. Each morning she had a homemade breakfast prepared. She even made fresh biscuits for me on the second morning. There is a complimentary beverage bar with sodas, water, beer, wine, coffee, and cocoa. The bedrooms were spacious each with it's own bathroom. The views from the wraparound porch are out of this world. The next time that we travel to New Hampshire, we will definitely stay at the Ballard House. read more

I am going to give this B&B the highest possible rating I could think of. First, the negatives: NONE, ZILCH, NADA, ZERO. Seriously, there is nothing bad to say. Nothing! The positives: reasonable pricing. Location-location-location, mini fridge in the common area has plenty of complimentary beverages, complete with an ice maker. Rooms are both old and modern in the same breath. The charm of a 200+ year old building is captured while providing modern conveniences. Clean, VERY clean. Spotless actually. We arrived on Harley's during Bike Week and were provided complimentary access to parking in the garage. But the best, and I mean the best feature of this property is the host, Bernadette. In the morning she makes you feel as if you are one of her relatives visiting her. The breakfasts that she puts together and the attentative personal service during breakfast is second to none. I can't stress this feature enough! I'm still wishing for some more fresh baked mango muffins and some apple bake with local (from around the corner) maple syrup on the table. To summarize my review: after one night of staying there, we asked Bernadette to book us again for next year. Done! read more

I want to thank the owners of this place again for hosting my fiancé and I. My fiancé just had hip surgery so we originally booked the suite on the third floor thinking we could make it up there with crutches. It was not as expected. Bernadette and her husband were extremely nice enough to accommodate us and switched our room for the room on the first floor. Her husband even helped my fiancée up some stairs by himself! Very thankful for that. The place is extremely clean and the breakfast they made accommodated our dietary restrictions as well. Extremely nice folks and a great place to stay! If I could give these guys 20/20 I would! Definitely staying here again! read more

My favorite B&B in the history of EVER! Lynn and Brian, the innkeepers are absolutely amazing. After the initial introductions, we were invited to enjoy wine, beer, and snacks set up in one of the two living areas. Next we met "Newton" a 160 pound gentle, sweet Golden Retriever who presides happily over the B&B. The c. 1784 home is quite large and completely restored with new and comfortable furnishings, bath amenities, flat screen tvs and fireplaces in each bedroom. Lynn provided menus for us to review for dinner and when we selected her favorite restaurant, she called to talk to the owner who happily accommodated us. Before dinner, our group hung out sipping beer and wine on the large back deck with "Newton". In the morning Hubby and I were out on the deck with coffee by 9 a.m. enjoying the gorgeous view and our new friend, "Newton". (Can you tell we fell in love with this guy?) Breakfast was delicious with cinnamon baked apples, banana pancakes, bacon, juice and coffee. Brian learned I was gluten free and thoughtfully made me the most perfect gluten free banana pancakes I've ever tasted. I've secretly made plans to return for a longer stay. read more

We had the pleasure of celebrating our 28th wedding anniversary at the Ballard House Inn. The place is beautiful and immaculate! Feza is an amazing host. We had never stayed at a BnB before and were nervous but quickly made to feel at home. The freshly baked cookies each afternoon were a nice touch. This is THE Bed and Breakfast to stay in Meredith or the Center Harbor area! Very close to Meredith City Center and a stones throw to Center Harbor. Do yourself a favor and stay here. We stayed at the Inn on multiple trips while looking for a house in the area this past fall/winter, and we will definitely be recommending it to our visitors now that we live here. Bernadette and her staff were super kind and friendly, we enjoyed visiting with them. The breakfast was awesome! And so generous that we were taking to-go boxes to eat as we explored. Our rooms were clean and cute, and it was also fun to just relax and play games with our kids in the common room. Bernadette even scraped our car off for us when it snowed! We had a last minute weekend get away at the Ballard House Inn and our experience was fantastic. Fez was very accommodating and put us up in one of the upstairs Suites. Highly recommend upgrading to the suite as it comes with a beautiful view and plenty of space. The main downstairs entry way, dining area and rooms are in excellent condition and kept clean and up to date. The bathrooms come fully stocked and downstairs there is a fridge with beverages (soft drinks, beer, wine) and coffee and tea available. Breakfast is fantastic and Fez is an excellent chef. Just as an example, one morning we had cranberry olive oil bunt cake, fruit, home made quiche and sausage while the next morning we had chocolate chip muffins, home made chocolate bread french toast and canadian bacon. So good! Fez is also incredibly knowledgeable about places to go and restaurants to eat at. He helped us make reservations and set us up to enjoy our first snow shoeing experience. We are looking forward to going back and can't recommend the Ballard House Inn highly enough!. read more

What a delicious find! We serendipitously stumbled upon this lovely historic B&B, owned and operated by gracious hosts (new owners since May 2012) Brian and Lynn. Great history - Annalee Dolls used to be manufactured in their barns. Sadly, we only had one night booked - just my 6 year old son and I, but can't wait to return as a family to stay in one of the two room suites. The premises are immaculately well kept, clean and well appointed. Spectacular views, close to Gunstock, shopping and restaurants. And their enormous golden Retriever, Newton, is gentle, sweet and quiet. Brian and Lynn clearly love their work and make the house welcoming and fun. So happy to have found this place. My husband and I stayed here at the Ballard House Inn while we were on our 15th Anniversary trip. We had never been to the east coast before and were very excited to experience everything. We had never stayed at a B&B before either so it was a new experience for us. Feza and family were AMAZING hosts! We felt like we were at home and they always made sure we had everything we needed. The view was breathtaking from the back porch on the swing. Breakfast each morning was delicious and even went out of their way to make something I could eat since I can not eat wheat. We stayed for just one night, but I hope to go back in warmer weather and for a longer stay! The inn is beautifully situated - just sitting at the table for breakfast and looking at the mountains was relaxing. Lynn and Brian were wonderful hosts and their love of the inn and its history is apparent throughout. Stay here! Our first B & B experience was outstanding. The Ballard House Inn had a fine mix of regional flavor and modern convenience. Our room had an electric fire place and a great view of the lake (same as the back porch picture on here). Brian and Lynn are informative, will make suggestions for things to do in the area and have a wealth of knowledge on which restaurants are the best. They'll even call in reservations for you. Even though there are nice restaurants in the are (like Tavern 27), our favorite meal was a breakfast of theirs. Both were gourmet! Don't let the dog steer you way, he's friendly and calm. Great porch to sit on and quite property. Nice touches of free beer, wine, soda and snacks all day and night. If we ever come back to NH, we're coming here again. read more

My wife and I had the pleasure last week of staying at the Ballard House Inn. We had a wonderful time. The place is a beautifully restored 1784 home...and immaculate. Our room was very comfortable. You can always pick up some fresh baked cookies or a beverage downstairs and enjoy the common rooms. Owner Fez is very attentive, always checking on your needs and ready to make a dinner reservation or help you enjoy your stay with all the local info you need. The best part of the inn is breakfast. Gorgeous inn with breathtaking views right outside the quaint center of Meredith! We were greeted by the owner Fez who couldn't have been nicer. We stayed in a two room suite with private bath. It was so clean, comfortable and appropriately decorated. We woke to the smell of homemade blueberry pancakes and bacon, that were delicious by the way. The price is right and includes breakfast, wine, beer, soft drinks and coffee. We loved it and will definately be back! read more
