Over the past two weeks, I noticed the owner (Anna) not around. When I asked, they mentioned that she sold the place! I'm shocked. Morena's pizza...you've never had anything so good in your life! Really! The pizza here is a perfect combination of flavors and textures that create a little party in your mouth. I also really enjoy that they offer Sicilian style pizza as an option. What other pizza place does that? But, Morena's offers more than just pizza. The pasta primavera is so good I have dreams about it. Pappardelle with fresh veggies that are never overcooked in a creamy dreamy sauce. The pasta options are endless with gnocci, various seafoods, and lasagna's. Not in the mood for pizza or pasta? Try the picatta, cacciatore, or marsala. Morena's also offers calzones, sandwiches, soups, and salads. The restaurant is located in a little strip mall with a liquor store nearby. Run over, grab your favorite bottle of wine, and then make yourself comfortable at one of the little tables in here. Or, order takeout and bring your food home! I have been coming here for years and it has always been a great take-out place. The food is home-style Italian, anything from pizza and calzone to pasta and parmigiana. Everything is reasonably priced and if you eat in house (there are about 8-10 small tables) you can bring your own beer/wine. There is a liquor store in the same plaza which is very convenient! The name is false advertising, this should read, Morena's everything good Italian!!! What can I say about Morena's; this place is so worth the drive! I have been eating here for well over 10 years; I have never had anything off the menu that wasn't absolutely amazing. They have one of the most over the top soup menu's you will see at any Italian restaurant. I would defiantly recommend trying their Straccatella soup, out of this world. I really don't know how to give this place enough credit, once again if you are looking for a place to eat a quick lunch, or take out, or just go up and order, and eat some amazing Italian, look no further. We love the pasta here! My favorite is linguine shrimp. I get the white sauce and it's so rich and delicious. My fiancé gets meatballs with gnocchi a lot and the sauce is great. It's very consistent! We get take out a lot since we live around the corner and it's always hot and fresh. I have always loved their pasta dishes, especially the chicken marsala. They add a little cream to it, and sauteed zucchini. We hadn't been there in at least 9 months, before Covid, and decided to give them a try. We ordered our usual chicken marsala. We used to pay about $13 dollars for a huge chicken marsala dinner, with pasta and breadsticks. The new owner has the chicken marsala at about $13.99. Pasta is $3.50 extra, so the pasta dinner from a sub shop was over $18. We thought well, let's give them a go. While the chicken was very tender and tasty, there was very little of it. There was absolutely no marsala wine in the dish. It was so disappointing. I even called the restaurant to tell them they forgot to add the marsala. The man answering the phone said "ok, I'll tell them." With prices so much higher, we don't think we'll be back except for maybe their pizza. read more

We've been going to Morena's since the early to mid 90's. I've NEVER been disappointed with a single item I've ordered!!! Their square sicilian pizza is to die for. It tastes just as good cold as it does hot and fresh. Our favorite is a Sicilian Pizza with extra garlic cooked slightly well done. We sometimes buy one on a friday night and dine on it through saturday. Their escarole soup is delicious and perfect on frigid winter night. Everything seems to be made from scratch and if you can't taste the difference,your taste buds must not be functioning. The staff is extremely friendly and personable. I've seen the same nice people working there for years and they always greet us with a smile. Also, this place is immaculate and one could eat off of their floor! Thanks Morena's !! Good food and pizza but everything is a bit overpriced since the portions are very small. My chicken parm sub was about 8 inches and had very little chicken in it. I expect more then 1 1/2 chicken cutlets for 8 dollars read more

This place is awesome. I love the chicken broccoli ziti alfredo with homemade pasta. The pizza is great both Sicilian and thin crust. The soup is also great for winter months and when I'm not feeling well. A friend brought it to me after surgery and it was so nice of him to introduce me to it. Tonight I got all the way home and dropped my chicken broccoli ziti all over my driveway. I was so bummed because I really wanted it for dinner. I found this place approximately 20 years ago when I was a young girl. I like their garden salad that is served with oil, vinegar and seasoning. I also enjoy their homemade bread sticks. The BEST thing about Morena's is their white pasta with broccoli. I still order it today when I make the trip over to Wakefield. It's even better than my own. read more

When we want Italian comfort food, Morena's is where we go. And, the number one thing we get? Stracciatella with extra bread sticks (A double order if someone is under the weather!). The staff is fast, friendly and familiar -- they've been there for years and it's nice to see the same faces every time. If I had to suggest improvements -- bigger place to accommodate all the customers, a bathroom that isn't accessible thru the kitchen and a regular cooler for drinks vs. a vending machine (remember to bring your quarters, people!). Stracciatella soup is our go-to dinner when we're not sure what we want. It's amazingly good homemade chicken soup with tiny pasta and an egg beat into it. Sounds funky but it's damn good and one order is filling. Don't let the price scare you! Also high on my list is their chicken parm. I've made my own chicken parm and I know the difference between frozen and fresh. Theirs is 100% fresh, every single time. Their sauce is homemade. You get yummy (sometimes warm!) breadsticks with your order. My husband loves their Sicilian pizza but I'm partial to their regular pizza. Good crust, and always cooked well. This place is a real find. It is part of a small strip mall in Wakefield. We have been ordering from here for many years and are never disappointed. My favorite meal is chicken masala (it's so good I ALWAYS order it!) The skinless chicken breast slices are thankfully not fried, but cooked in the delicious cream masala sauce that you just have to use the warm breadsticks, that come with the meal, to mop up the remaining sauce. The chicken is cooked with mushrooms and thinly sliced zucchini. I used to find zucchini over-rated, but this meal converted me! Morena's is a small place on Broadway Street next to the train station in Wakefield and just a couple of blocks from downtown. This is a great place for lunch or take out. The owner is a lovely lady that works the kitchen and the counter and her food is amazing! Delicious and with a homemade feel good taste. This is one of the best kept secrets in the North Shore, best Italian food in the Boston area imho. My favorites are the pasta fagioli and pasta lentil soups (great for a cool auttum day), as well as the chicken marsala which is really the best! Morena's is also known for its panini and the pizza, both the regular and the siclian which are made with their own sauce and your choice of toppings. Love this place. No longer BYOB, which sucks and is not their fault (thanks Wakefield), but I typically order to go anyway. Their soups are perfect, especially stracciatella. Salads are good too. If you like chicken salad, or Italian tuna, on your salad, try those. Their regular pizza is OK, but you should go for the zaza thing, that's where it's at pizza wise. Aaaand, the escarole hippie role calzone thing. Subs and pasta are great too. Lots of people think it's pricey for the small portion you get. The portions are smaller compared to your typical sub shop, but this isn't a typical sub shop so I think people need to re-evaluate. Bring cash if you want a drink from the machine! read more

Excellent pizza, I would recommend the Sicilian Pizza on a Friday night when you have some friends over. Delicious freshly made bread sticks compliment it very well. The owner and his son (& the super staff members) work tirelessly, but are always willing to chat to you and crack a joke - all this whilst multitasking on making pizza, answering the phone and running the till. A great hole in the wall place! You know this is a great family run place, when they shut down for a week or two over Christmas and you are left wondering where you'll get your substitute slice of pizza from, as you wait for them to reopen! read more

Morenas is the perfect place for a quick bite to eat. While I've had some of their meals and their pizza, my favorite items on the menu are the soups. The pasta figole is my favorite even though the broth is not traditional. I've also tried their minestrone and my Mom enjoys the Italian wedding soup. Their menu is reasonably priced and they never keep you waiting long. The only things that I would like to see change are the fact that they're not open on Sundays and that they would get rid of the beverage vending machine and replace it with a regular cooler. read more
