I used to come here often and would hold business meals here. last few times was not very good. sorry to say today will be my last time here. ordered steak asked med well it was rare also ordered soups, they forgot the had corn as a dip de they forgot. my friend got steak Marcella was different really bland. my steak was stringy and had a strip of fat through it. I have no issue spending $$$$ on good food in fact my wife and I would bring her father and found $300 plus steaks drinks spots and dessert so that's not the issue. it all started to do downhill when they put in the "sports" bar. They seemed to forget their old clients who had money and would spend and went for the "hip" market. many if my friends now refuse to go there as it is a confused atmosphere and the menu changes a bit, dropped steaks and several dishes, cut the double burger to a single, same price and kind of dropped the quality in general. The staff is great but they can only work with what they have. I feel really sorry but maybe this post will motivate them to get back on track. before the bar it was a unique local place that had outstanding food now it's just like any other cookie cutter Italian bar. So sorry but I will not return and many of my friends I sent there agree. Who ever suggested the hip bar thing really did them a disservice. read more

Went on a Monday night. It's a nice family restaurant but... Unfortunately, our experience was ruined by a rude group of men, especially one loud-mouthed poser who constantly swore and went out of his way to draw attention to himself. What made it worse was that the poser seemed to be with his equally rude wife, who encouraged the behavior rather than calming it down. Their combined attitude was obnoxious and disruptive, making the environment uncomfortable for everyone around them. It's disappointing because no one goes out expecting to have their experience overshadowed by such immature and disrespectful conduct. Management should be more attentive to how behavior like this affects other guests. read more

I really wish I was better about leaving reviews. So with that being said, I have to give so much credit to the good folks over at Fusilli's in Reading. It was my first time there with some epic company and they were one of the few places open during yesterday's snow storm. They were all so personable, smiling, engaging, checked on me constantly and working their tails off despite being open during the storm. We got the arancini and cheesy garlic bread with some cocktails. That garlic bread was so insanely delicious. Everything was but it stood out. So, we have been to this location multiple times and have always loved it. Tonight was just awful! It was legit empty and we sat for 15 minutes then finally we were asked our drink order, we got an app that came with dipping sauce and two entrées or what we thought were entrées my daughter in fact got a child's meal and she does not even look like a child and I did not ask for a child's meal myself. I got a pasta dish with chicken and 90% of the chicken was overcooked and chewy. Then when we went to leave, our meals are packed fine, but our appetizer was packed with the truffle fries on top of the aïoli, instead of the aïoli being packed in a plastic ramekin, so the fries are trash you can't even reheat them. Again, I am a multiple visit customer and I probably will never be back. Very disappointed. read more

Love this restaurant, but unfortunately a regular bar customer consistently ruins the atmosphere. He is loud, refuses to sit, sulks if he doesn't get a specific corner spot, uses profanity, and makes inappropriate comments toward staff. At times he is accompanied by his wife, and when he is with his male friends the behavior becomes even more disruptive, making the bar especially uncomfortable for employees and other patrons. I'm not the only one--other guests have said they avoid the bar when he's present. Staff and management should not have to put up with this behavior. read more

Saturday night 8 pm bar is super quiet. 4 of us $250 and they were cleaning up pulling chairs from the bar sweeping and shut music off lights on bright at 9:15 and they close at 10. Will not go back, do not recommend. I've passed this place alot and the parking lot is always full....people must go for the bar. There was no hostess when we arrived and a dirty drinking cup on the stand. 6-7 minutes later a waitress came out and seated us. It was 10 minutes before we had anyone come over. Other tables that were sat after us had service. When she did come over she was super sweet, but didn't recite the specials like we heard with other tables. (Truth be told we had had more than enough time to look at the menu so we knew what we wanted). Nothing about the atmosphere was cohesive. mismatched salt/pepper shakers, plates, spots on flatware. The lights were super bright and then were turned down low. Bread was brought out with a bowl of sauce sitting on top of butter packets. Unfortunately I got a call for a family emergency and we had to ask for our food to go (after waiting for 20 min with an empty drink for our food). A woman came over, I assume the manager, didn't introduce herself (was wearing a t shirt) and asked "is there a problem" and while we were explaining we just had to leave, took our plates and never looked at us. My visit was with a group on Sunday night, 23rd February. The food was typical Italian - nothing to write home about. My issue was the furniture (specifically the tables) were in bad need of sanding and painting. Chipped and scratched tables harbor germs. That's no small fault these days. As the nigh went on the manager turned off the heat. It was a freezing cold night out and all of us asked them to turn on the heat which they did not do.. Mrs. StoneOLD and I really enjoyed our meal at Fusilli's Cucina. We both had Chicken Marsala with fresh Pappardelle Pasta. It was really delicious. The Marsala Sauce was pleasantly sweet, as it should be. It included the right amount of Prosciutto to balance the sweetness with saltiness and ample Fresh Mushrooms and Baby Spinach. The Pappardelle was al dente. A very well executed meal that we'll definitely be back for. The Service was a different story. Our Server was basically inattentive and MIA for the most part. I've seen other Reviewers mentioning Family Sized Salad and Bread. We never saw either and our Server wasn't around for us to ask. Could be that those items aren't offered with Lunch? Haven't been there since they remodeled, but have been there a lot in the past few years. I always sit in the bar, which I believe they dramatically increased the size of in their remodel. Great bartenders. They always have a new specialty martini, the bar tenders are always willing to get a little creative Their chicken marsala is one of my favorites in the greater Boston area. There are a few better, but not many. I get it almost every time I go. If I don't get that, I get pizza, which is also very good. I've had the chicken parm, also a good choice. My wife loves the chicken francese, it's one of her favorite dishes in the area as well. She usually gets that. The salad that comes with the dinners is outstanding. Desert - the limoncello cake is utterly amazing, so light, with tons of flavor. read more

First time visiting Fusillis. Had a small reunion with two old friends and decided to meet here. Beautiful night. Restaurant side was under construction but the bar side was open with sliding glass doors open to the space with some outside seating. Upon arrival, bartender was friendly and greeted us and said we could seat wherever we wanted. They had a good crowd as the night went on. Our server Kristen, was very friendly and attentive. She brought us a family style salad and fresh bread for starters. We did stay quite a while (catching up) but were never rushed. Food was great. We ordered Italian wedding soup, meatball appetizer, 4 cheese pizza and chicken saltimbocca with fresh fusilla pasta (small upcharge). We were all thrilled with the food (sorry no pics). Monday's they have a seafood special for dollar oysters, and shrimp cocktail...what's not to love about that? Fusillis has completely revamped! We are over the moon excited to have such a great establishment here in town. 3 strikes and you're out. Let me explain, and start off by saying I just moved to Reading and bought my home across from this restaurant and REALLY wanted to like them but 3 consecutive bad experiences has made that impossible. First visit we are denied a spot in the bar despite the fact that more than half the tables were vacant, so we left. Second trip we only came over for a couple drinks but showed up a half hour before closing so were refused any service. It doesn't take me but 10 minutes to whistle down a Guinness so this was obviously a bummer. Third visit was the straw that broke the camel's back. The wife and I showed up early for drinks and were allowed to sit at the bar (hooray!) but were immediately accosted by the female bartender about ordering food. We said maybe later but after ordering our second round were told we needed to order food if we were going to stay so I said I'd order a pizza in a bit (planning to bring home to the kid) and this obviously irritated the bartender. When we attempted to order a third (and final) round of drinks the bartender asked us directly if we planned on eating or not, and "reminded" us this was a restaurant. She was beyond rude and it was extremely embarrassing, as if she thought we were planning on skipping out on paying the tab. Needless to say we ordered the pizza and paid our tab and left. Before leaving she attempted to tell us she didn't mean to be rude, but all too little too late. I will never go back to this place and would not recommend it to anyone who wants to feel welcome in a new spot. Highly recommend the food here. Not the fanciest or most authentic, but we're local and love this spot when we're not looking for a heavy Italian meal from one of the other nearby Italian restaurants. You can get a chicken park sandwich, a nice salad, or split a few apps or a pizza (which is always great). The one thing I'll say that could use improvement is the bar menu. We often decide to go elsewhere if we're looking to have a few cocktails, as the drinks aren't very good. The bartenders will swear by the bar menu, but it's mostly overly sweetened/super boozy type drinks. Most of the bad reviews here are "They were closing soon", or "the bar was full", but I'd say 4 stars is a fair review all things considered! Would do a half extra star if I could! read more

Went for an early dinner last night and wasn't sure what to expect due to mixed reviews. Well we loved it! The menu has plenty of choices and they offer fresh pasta. I got the fresh fusilli with pomodoro sauce and breaded chicken cutlet. It was ginormous -- I am not exaggerating when I say that it was at least four servings in one deep dish bowl! The family style salad that comes with entrees was very good as well. Warm bread served with butter and a side of their warm marinara sauce was a nice addition to our meals as well. My entree was only $19.99 for fresh pasta and salad and a huge doggie bag -- a deal that can't be beat. Service was pleasant and excellent. Ambiance lovely as well.
