It was an 80+ degree afternoon and Morgan's is a great place to find a table outside or near the open doors where we sat. Service is great. If you want to keep an eye on a sports game, this is the place. We ordered the queso dip (ok not fantastic), hamburger w/ cheese (ok), brisket sandwich (too much sauce but good enough). Party for 1 on 10/7/2025 went wonderful! It was a Tuesday evening and I was seated right away. I made it time for Happy Hour and therefore order the Berry Fresca. This drink was refreshing and was provided in a mason jar which I loved. I ordered the BBQ Pulled Chicken sandwich along with the collard greens and potatoe salad as my sides. My food came out in a timely manner and I was also provided with extra sauce on the side. The food was absolutely delicious and satisfying. I ordered a glass of Sparkling Rose Wine which was also refreshing. I managed to save room for dessert; Molten Cake with Vanilla ice cream. Let me start by saying that I'm surprised that this place isn't more highly rated. I guess if you're a true BBQ connoisseur (in my mind I'm saying "snob") maybe Morgans isn't absolutely top-tier, but for my amateur purposes, I think it's great. We've been here twice for Restaurant Week lunch (most recently last month), and it is a terrific deal -- three courses (all large portions) for $30. You really can't beat that. The first time I got BBQ -- awesome. This time I got the chicken, which was absolutely fine, but next time I'll go back to the BBQ since you can get chicken so many other places. Well aware that New York isn't the epicenter for quality BBQ, unless you want to take out a PPP loan to eat at Hometown, but that still doesn't make this establishment an acceptable practice. The one redeeming quality I found was that my brisket was on the table maybe 30 seconds after I ordered. You'd be amazed to know the heatlamp it was chilling under didn't quite leave this meat fall apart (pause). Reminded me of Spongebob and Big P drying out at the Shell City gift shop. I've had McRibs more tender. I've had McRibs more flavorful. One time for McRibs, just a grown man playing in a little league sport. I went for restaurant week 2/10/26 to catch the $30 meal and I wasn't disappointed. My whole objective was to try the brisket tacos and I was almost denied the tacos because the dinner menu was the only one available. But regardless the staff was able to accommodate me and still make the tacos. I went during happy hour so I also got a Texas two step that was half priced. The sweet tea was definitely sweet and it hid the alcohol well enough to sneak up on you. I got the lunch menu 3 course meal and I ordered the naked wings sauced half BBQ and half buffalo, the brisket tacos and a chocolate chip cookie in a skillet pan topped with a little vanilla ice cream. Morgans BBQ sauce is amazing, not too tangy not too sweet. Just right. So it made the wings and the brisket tacos even better. The brisket tacos were packed with brisket with a little Pico de gallo for spice. The added BBQ and Mexican flavors made me wonder why it's not a thing already. Can't describe how flavorful the tacos were. They were just amazing. The cookie ended the meal nicely. It was slightly crunchy on top but soft and gooey in the middle. Overall the whole meal was a 9 or 10. My only gripe is the brisket tacos are not available on the regular menu. If management reads this, please add those brisket tacos at least for happy hour, I promise you'll make a killing. It has to be apart of the menu not only for restaurant week. I'll preface by saying I've had great BBQ in Memphis, TN, Kansas City, MO and Austin, TX and haven't found much that compares in NYC. This is the exact reason that I'm a fan of Morgan's and they also fan other positives such as: 1) Their brisket is delicious and they sell it in lean vs fatty cuts. I usually get the fatty brisket because it's more moist. 2) Their sides are all so tasty and flavorful. My go-to sides are Old School Mac & Collard Greens. I seldom get their other types of Mac but I'm glad they offer them because they are good as well if you want something different. 3) The rustic decor is perfect for their cuisine. It's casual enough for me to feel comfortable eating with my hands. 4) The service is good and friendly. The food comes out pretty fast. 5) They offer Beef Ribs which are slab style but oh so tender. Order early because it often sells out. 6) I have had their Key Lime Pie which was good and zesty but I want to try more of their desserts like the Fried Oreos. First off our server was fantastic, as were many of the staff. They would have to be given the substandard quality of the food. I will preface this by saying my wife ordered the ribs and they were good -- standard, properly prepared, and juicy. However, I ordered the brisket cheesesteak. When I received the order in no time at all, that was the first red flag. First of all, the bread was stale. I could not tell if it was lightly toasted or just stale. The cheese sauce was a flood of cheese whiz, clearly there to disguise how overdone, old, lacking in freshness, and rubbery the brisket was. Common sense would say that for this sandwich you would take fresh brisket and chop it up. What became apparent after tasting it was one of two things -- either the sandwich brisket is leftovers from the day before, or it is prepped at the start of the day and left to toughen over the course of the day. Either way, it was shocking how bad it was and completely unbecoming of the standards you expect from an establishment that prices this sandwich at twenty three dollars, the most expensive option on the sandwich menu. Morgan's is definitely one of the best BBQ spots I've been to since moving away from Texas. That said, I have only one complaint. The banana bread pudding was not to my taste. Good barbecue can be extremely difficult to find in New York City--especially in Brooklyn--but trust this Southerner: Morgan's Barbecue is a place that comes close to satisfying those cravings. I love they have such a simple menu with so much variation. It's very reminiscent of my upbringing going to the neighborhood 'pig joint.' If I'm just moderately hungry, I get the pulled pork sandwich with fries. But the last two times I went, one visit just yesterday, I was starving. So The Holy Trinity Platter (brisket, pork ribs, house-smoked sausage, and cornbread), all perfectly cooked to perfection, was calling my name. Whatever my degree of hunger is, though, I always get the mac and cheese. That's never optional. Morgan's is sort of a hybrid. It has a sports bar feel, with flat screens around the main bar, but it also has that down-home feel that is familiar and comforting. It has never been too busy when I have gone, although I will say I've never gone on game days, so that may be a different experience altogether. But whether inside or outside on a nice day, I have never had a bad experience. And I also have to shoutout the drinks! You can satisfy all your bourbon and whiskey needs as their selections seems endless. The cocktails are great, as well. On my last visit, I nearly OD'ed on the Texas Two-Step (bourbon, sweet tea, lemon). I lost count how many I had, but be forewarned, they're dangerous. I got the fried chicken sandwich, wings, cornbread, and fries. The fried chicken sandwich was okay but too oily and that's mostly what you tasted -- I found myself enjoying the lettuce and tomato a lot to offset how oily the chicken was. Fries were good - probably the best item. Cornbread was good but a little dry, the butter helped a lot but the base was still too dry / overcooked. Wings had good flavor but they seemed to be baked which I don't enjoy texture-wise. To be fair this is a bbq spot and I don't eat pork -- hopefully their pork bbq is better. It doesn't look too appealing from outside, especially being a focal point in the area. I feel a renovation inside would give the place more of a pop. The food was pretty good. I enjoyed the mac & cheese, I felt it was made to perfection. I love the crisp they made on top. The drinks I feel were a bit on the bitter side, but from the looks it was appealing. I went here with a large group a while back. The service was alright and so was the food. As it's not possible to get 1/4 pound of meat and I frankly did not want to pay $26 for half a pound of brisket, I went begrudgingly with the Holy Trinity with brisket, pork ribs, house smoked sausage, and slices of cornbread which was $41 which unfortunately doesn't come with sides so I went with the coleslaw which is rather absurdly priced at $8. The platter was large of course but it better be for the price. The brisket which I chose fatty of course was alright. The fat was rendered down well but I couldn't taste the smoke that much. The color was nice so I'm curious whether they're using liquid smoke or something to make it look nice. Nicely tender but just alright. The ribs were on the dry end and could have used a bit more flavor with the barbecue sauce almost being necessary. The sausage was actually pretty good not being dry like some other reviews but again it was a single sausage. The cornbread had a good texture while the coleslaw was bland and watery. There was also a pickle on the bottom which was fine. Another person had the mac and cheese which they enjoyed. Overall I found the food pretty mediocre. The prices are very high and the quality just isn't that good with the majority of the meat being dry. For higher end BBQ, Fette Sau is just better and the brisket was worse than Mighty Quinn's which really isn't saying much and the side was terrible. I had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich (see pictures) and the Bacon Mac n' Cheese. The Bacon Mac n' Cheese was a delight. It was piping hot and super cheesy--just like I like it. The cheese oozed, stringy and delicious. It was perfectly cooked and well balance between burnt, hot and tasty, completely made the way I truly enjoy a Mac n Cheese (to my taste). It had been a while since I ate it this way. It was a truly delicious. The BBQ Pulled Pork was tasty and I was able to add all the bbq of my liking. It was very tasty. The bun was soft too. Yummy. Grand opening, grand closing. Been meaning to try this place for a while now and now that I have I can honestly say it wasn't worth it. Ordered pickup and when I arrived to pickup the staff wasn't friendly at all plus it was damn near empty in there on a Saturday afternoon. That should've told me to abort mission lol. Ok so let's jump into the food, I ordered a lot cause remember I've been wanting to try this place for years. I got fatty brisket, pulled pork, half rack of each kind of ribs. The meats are what they are, brisket is tender but lacks flavor. Bbq sauce helps with that. Pulled pork, same thing. The naked ribs are ok, but again the glazed are more flavorful. It's almost as if they don't season their meats before putting them in the smoker, assuming they use one. The one star I did give was due to the tenderness of the meat so they weren't a complete lost cause. Now for the sides. Lord have mercy. None of the sides I got were worth a damn. The collards had no seasoning, mac and cheese was literally just that, macaroni with a "cheese sauce" and cheese on top. No type of seasoning. The simmered pinto beans were ok but not what I was expecting. I was expecting baked beans and ended up with beans from chipotle. The cornbread was an absolute joke. Dense, chewy and lacking flavor. I wouldn't wish this cornbread on anyone. NYC is not known for its bbq and with places like this I can see why. Surprised they're still in business if I'm being completely honest.
