When I think of gems I think of the neighborhood eateries I depend on for consistency in service, ambience and food. KG now sits alongside Hilltop Tavern as my go to for this area. The welcoming interior with its long bar, soft lighting and a menu that offers creative comfort options, one knows this will be an experience to savor. I chose the backyard patio to dine in a beautiful sunny spring day. There were numerous delicious options to choose from: shrimp or lamb burger, lemon ricotta pancakes, grilled cheese, soup and salads. I asked David, my server, what I should eat. "The breakfast gnocchi is a must". I ordered that and wow, what a delicious dish. My dish arrived and loved the presentation: two Sunnyside eggs covering the gnocchi, bacon bites, black kale in a squash sauce. It looked and tasted amazing. I ordered a side of toast to sop up the sauce. I highly recommend this dish. It hit the spot before my pre- Brooklyn Botanic Garden visit. There is a daily Happy Hour Monday through Thursday from 4-6 pm, brunch all day and there are special events. I will be back with a bigger appetite to try that shrimp burger and soup. Every time I visit my bestie in Park Slope, I have to stop here. The servers are always so welcoming, attentive, and genuinely friendly, which makes the experience even better every time I come. The food is absolutely delicious. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but I tried their "Smokey" wine (not to be confused with the Smokey Bloody Mary), and it was sooo good -- light, refreshing, and unique. Over the years I've had the Eggs Benedict, Country Toast, the Basic B, arugula salad, and several of their meat dishes, and everything has consistently been flavorful and satisfying. I honestly wish I lived closer because I would come here all the time. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the family-style seating since some guests can be a bit loud or inconsiderate, but I really love the picnic tables in the back. To be perfectly frank, I wanted to give 3 stars since this was a fairly ordinary brunch without any frills. But the flavors were solid enough that I couldn't justify going below 4 stars - so here we are, rounded up. I ordered the pesto toast with eggs, and I did really enjoy the rich pesto sauce. I'm glad I didn't go for the ricotta pancakes, which I sampled - the cream on top was very promising, but the flavors were on the more neutral side. Tried takeout from here recently and the highlights were the salmon and brussels! The fish was so crispy and had a yummy tomato-based sauce, the french lentils it came with weren't my favorite especially when it said it'd have a side of pilaf online. The brussels were perfectly cooked and had a delicious sauce. I've had the lamb burger from here as well and the toppings were a tad sweet for me even though it was still good and well cooked, it felt like a kale cranberry goat cheese salad on top of an otherwise delicious patty. Excellent service, great food from a wide variety of backgrounds, and both indoor and outdoor seating including a back patio. The lemon ricotta blueberry pancakes were calling our name so we split them 3 ways as an appetizer. It was a great way to start, which we followed with Brussels sprouts (crisply fried and not at all greasy). Afterwards, my friend and I split the gnocchi bolognese and my mother got the eggs with avocado served on toast. We were surprised when her meal came out as a toast but it tasted delicious and the eggs were super fresh. The gnocchi was incredibly light and perfect to share; the bolognese sauce was the perfect ratio of vegetables to meat. The waiters changed silverware between courses, gave us recommendations, sat us in the backyard upon asking. Back in Park Slope Brooklyn first time in two years. Stopped in for lunch today, a beef burger and cider. So glad some great dishes are still on menu and better still, consistently outstanding. Yesterday ate breakfast gnocchi, unbelievable with bacon pieces and real jammy fried eggs on top. I mean a real filler perfect for a four hour museum crawl. Lasted till dinner after that breakfast. Not sure why it's called Krupa Grocery. Oh, I see. The online description says the storefront used to be a grocery. Now it's a chill little cafe/ bar in Park Slope with very nice menu. There are two tables for outdoor seating. As my daughter and I were about to walk by on a sunny Sunday, we decided to stop for a snack. We peeked inside and a server led us back outside to be seated. She also took our order of Mahi Mahi Ceviche and Farro Quinoa Salad. I ordered a Kyoto ice coffee which very good but strong. My daughter ordered a virgin Blood Orange Arnold Palmer which was delicious. The food arrived quickly. The ceviche was super fresh. The salad was beautiful, colorful and tasted even better than it looked. I'm not sure when I'll be by this way again. On the advice of our friends who live near Prospect Park, we had a delicious dinner at Krupa Grocery. Before writing my review, I read many of the other 5 STAR reviews to confirm what we experienced, that Krupa Grocery is indeed a fabulous restaurant. Sadly we live in one of the other boroughs but we can always hop on the subway and return, which we definitely will do! We shared their yellow gazpacho and then shared their ricotta gnocchi, the crispy Brussel sprouts and the warm beet salad. The dinner was absolutely delicious and we celebrated our dinner by sharing one of their desserts: Brown Sugar Pot De Creme served with their homemade biscotti! Was looking for a place for brunch on a late Sunday morning. Read the reviews and chose Krupa, glad I did. Went with my partner, place wasn't as busy as I'd thought it be for 11:30 brunch. Bar seating was open, a table for 2 would've taken 10-15 mins, so we chose the bar. We ordered the chicken liver pate and shishito peppers to start, the pate came with 4 delicious slices of sourdough, along with some pickles and pickled peppers, was really delicious. The shishito peppers were nothing out of the ordinary but just as expected. My partner ordered the breakfast gnocchi, and I ordered the smash lamb burger, with baby potatoes. I loved my burger, it was juicy, and the cheese they put in there was the perfect compliment. The potato's were very tasty as well. The breakfast gnocchi was good, but I wouldn't order that again, the gnocchi was cooked perfectly, but with the egg its's a one note texture. The Krupa margarita was good, but my partners Bloody Mary was DELICIOUS! I'm definitely coming back to try the lemon ricotta pancakes and to get the burger again. Service was great, always there when we asked for something, inside was a cool modern old bar vibe. I had a delicious lunch today at Krupa Grocery. The food and service were spot on (thank you Kaitlin and Armando) ~ even the manager (owner?), Tom, came by our table to be sure everything exceeded our expectations! This tastefully decorated restaurant is comfortable and features a beautiful backyard as well as tables and a bar. We began with two refreshing Arnold Palmers, then split orders of chicken liver pate deviled eggs and and risotto balls. Both were fresh and bursting with flavor. My buddy then had a shrimp burger and I the angus beef burger accompanies with their salt and vinegar & curry fingerlings (potatoes). My one minor suggestion would be to ask for the burger with a bit less of the sauce because as delicious as it was, it tended to mask the exceptional quality of the burger itself. For dessert we made room for their s'more pie that was decadently good and went well with their delicious brewed coffee that I had or the cappuccino my buddy went with. Great neighborhood spot! Made a same-day reservation for dinner on a Friday and had a lovely meal. Started with the Pineapple Express cocktail, then tried the blistered shishitos, double stack lamb burger with fried fingerlings, and heirloom cherry tomatoes and stracciatella. Burger and heirlooms were the highlights, but everything was tasty. We were provided with menus and placed our orders. Krupa has a diverse selection of cocktails, appetizers , entrées, etc. In additon to getting the Krupa House-Made Chicken Nuggets as an appetizer, the following was ordered : Isolation Old Fashioned Cocktail - American Bourbon w/ Angostura Orange Bitters. Miss Ya Margarita - Pueblo Viejo Blanco Tequila, Cambier + Lime. Westchester Cocktail -Applejack Whiskey, Lemon, Luxardo Cherry, Cranberry Bitters. It didn't occur to me that Krupa Grocery is a Windsor Terrace/Park Slope institution until a few years ago, when I met my friend for dinner here and she was out of breath after lugging her bag of groceries 1.5 miles from the Park Slope Food Co-op post-shift. But alas, being such a beloved neighborhood spot means that there's usually a wait here. Luckily I lived right across the street at the time and we headed back to my apartment so my friend could stash her perishables in my fridge and I could force feed her some of the first batch of my homemade kombucha. Friendship! There's truly something on the menu for everyone. (C'mon, vegan chicken fried tofu? I want to order that and I'm not technically vegan.) Which means that Krupa Grocery definitely isn't a hidden gem. It's not a huge place, so I'd recommend being mindful about when you drop by: if it works with your schedule, try swinging by after 2 PM on a weekend. Note that they rotate the menu here for the sake of variety. If it catches your fancy and the stars align, get the chicken sausage sandwich! It is, admittedly, a tad messy to eat, so I'll take that back if you're coming here with someone you're trying to impress before they're forced to put up with your authentic self. read more

My son searched for a spot that had outside seating, because of my autoimmune condition, and also great reviews. He couldn't have chosen better. We were led through the restaurant to a heated patio filled with picnic style tables. Only one other table was occupied. Perfect! The brunch menu was filled with appetizing selections. My choice of the Italian Olive & Pistachio Chicken Sausage with beluga lentils, celery root puree, orange & fennel salad, and house-made sausage was absolute perfect. Every day would not be too often to order this dish. My son, a vegetarian, chose the Tiny Arugula Salad with pickled garlic vinaigrette, the Blistered Shishitos with applewood smoked salt & the Ahi Tuna Crudo with pickled fennel, charred scallion vinaigrette, Calabrian oil & fennel pollen. I have to admit that I snuck some of the Shishitos and they were fabulous. My Grandson chose the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with sour cherry mascarpone, pineapple upside down compote, sliced almond, maple syrup along with the Nueske Bacon. He only ate one pancake so we took the other home. I had it for breakfast the next day with no syrup or topping. It was fabulous. The pancake had a fluffy texture & very slight sweet taste, which I love. This, also, I could eat every day. Service was amazing! I had forgotten to take my reusable metal straws, which I need. The restaurant didn't offer straws. My son slipped out to go to a deli next door for a straw. But after seeing my difficulty with the iced tea glass, without my knowing, the server also went next door to get a straw for me. Now that is wonderful service! The pancakes were so fluffy and delightful, especially with the caramelized apples and candied pecans. I tend to get tired of sweet brunch items about halfway through, so I was glad to take intermittent breaks and dig into the lamb burger. Couldn't have pegged it as lamb, but the patty was very tender and perfectly cooked, and I'm a sucker for anything with tomato jam. Not a fan of chicken liver pate so I didn't try that, but my friend loved this unique and funky take, especially the combo of the pate and pickled egg. Instead, mouth watering takes on familiar comfort foods dominate the menu, and are executed with aplomb. The same few dishes appear on pretty much every table because everyone knows what's good for them. My friend and I had a hard time limiting how much food we ordered, because we felt like we could eat ourselves into oblivion with dishes like the Cod Croquettes, Risotto Balls, and Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. We decided on this day what we couldn't live without were the Breakfast Gnocchi, Panko Crusted Shrimp Burger, and the Quiche with Lox and Creme Fraiche. The shrimp burger was the most delicious of our choices, with a little bit of zest from the relish to offset the crispy, fried flavor of the burger and a healthy kick that came from the spicy chive aioli. This alone would be worth going out of your way for. I'd make the same argument for the gnocchi, which was extraordinarily tender and rich in the best way. If I could go back in time I'd skip the quiche and order the lemon ricotta pancakes instead. Even at 11am we had to wait 15-20 minutes for a table, so this place is far from being a hidden gem.
