My favorite place to go for breakfast in Port Charlotte. Everything from the specials in the morning, from the pancakes to the Hash is great. I had tried everything and I think it is the best breakfast spot in the area. Great service and great prices. And by the way the waitress are good singers and occasionally you will catch a song. Went to this establishment twice for breakfast and lunch within a one month time frame. I whole heartedly support small local businesses. Especially breakfast cafés. Unfortunately I did not get that vibe from this business. Breakfast was on a Sunday and they were severely understaffed. I wasn't expecting expedited service but they were a tad overwhelmed. It was maybe 3-4 employees working. Breakfast was okay, we asked for water and was never provided the beverage so we ate our food with no drinks for a good while. The time I went for lunch, it was brutal. Sat at a booth and waited 17 minutes for a server to approach us. Once we finally got our drinks and ordered we had a subpar burger and tuna salad sandwich. It seems there was only three females working and you really couldn't tell who was line cook or wait staff. Everyone was doing something different. At the end of the day, I support small business. But don't go out of your way to try this place. read more

Very disappointed in food, service and atmosphere. One hour, from, ordering omlet and bowl, to delievery to table, only missing egg in the bowl. Great view of kitchen through open door, lots of microwaving and questionable food handling. Not sure anyone theres knows of food certs, or maybe Charlotte County dont require it. Menu is typical, cuisine breakfast, hot plates, hot and cold sandwiches all prepared well and tasty. For the most part the ambience is moderate, the staff is professional and pleasant offering the diner a relaxing morning or lunching experience. Give it a try, I'm sure you will agree. Waited 45 minutes for a Togo order, which were 3 eggs over easy, Turkey bacon, and 3 tomato slices. By the time I received my food it was cold. Morgan's is a hidden gem in Port Charlotte. It was recommended by a friend, and did not disappoint! We were lucky enough to get a table outside this morning. The food was just delicious and fresh. I had scrambled eggs (real eggs) and crispy bacon. I added home fries, which were wonderful. I requested the addition of onions, which were soft and almost caramelized. My mother had a cheese and mushroom 2-egg omelet with bacon and toast. The coffee was refilled without us asking. The owner is on site and came out to check on our meal. The waitress we had was so nice and friendly. She was attentive without hovering. We will definitely come again! Strongly recommended for breakfast. Pricing is in line with other restaurants that we have been to recently. With tax, our breakfast was $28. read more

Nice atmosphere but not impressed with the food or service. My wife got eggs benedict. Eggs were really runny. I got a very flat omelte,asked to have mushroom and onions in it. They came out on top of my homefries. I told the waiter he said oh, ill have to yell at her,meaning the cook as he walked past us as he went to the restroom. The waiter was nice but he never came to ask how things are or to even ask if I wanted more coffee as he walked around serving others more. For a bottomless cup of coffee I only got 1 cup. Attempted to eat here today and boy what a disappointment. We called before arriving to see if there was a wait since Bob Evans was short staffed and long waits. Morgan's confirmed there was no wait. We arrive were sat outside. One of the girls there (not a server) brought us our drinks. She then said Morgan would come take our orders but "whenever she got a chance" (lady's words). No problem we understand businesses are short staffed. We are patient and polite. But this was too much. We literally waited for 20 minutes possibly more. Morgan made eye contact with us a number of times and still didn't go out. I went in and said we were ready to order, she said she would be out in a few minutes. We waited another 10 minutes. She took orders of everyone inside who came after us, made eye contact with us again and STILL didn't go outside. There was no point in having the girl bring us our drinks when she could've taken our orders. This business lacks organization and professionalism. We walked out and ate somewhere else where we literally ordered and ate under 30 minutes. NEVER EVER will we go there. read more

Mike and I went back to Morgan's Cafe for breakfast. This time I had the fiesta omelette with hash browns and toast. It's delicious! Loaded with taco meat (lots of nicely seasoned meat), jalapeños and cheddar cheese. It's a big omelette with big flavors! The hash browns were crispy and delicious. Mike had the schoolhouse pancake. Only one this time. It's load with chocolate chips, blueberries and pecans and topped with strawberries and whipped cream. As Mike says... best pancake he ever had. I kept seeing this little cafe in School House Square called Morgan's Cafe and finally decided to try it this morning. What a welcome surprise this place is like a hidden gem. We got the Classic Eggs Benedict and I couldn't have been more surprised. It was one of the best I have had in a long time. I also had grits which really needs to be cooked correctly as well, and they did not disappoint. My son had the same with hash browns and a pancake. I of course tasted it all, the hash browns were perfect and the pancake was so fluffy. If you are in the area, check it out. I'll have to come back for lunch sometime. DISGUSTING. Do not bother to eat here. The place is filthy, poorly run, and unorganized with incompetent management and staff. Ordered a very simple breakfast - one pancake with blueberries. Brought out a regular pancake and after 30 minutes still no correct pancake. To make matters worse, one of the employees was audibly ill in the restroom and was so loud that the whole place could hear her vomiting. We paid our check and left never to return. read more

If you planning to eat there, please read the following. My first time visiting since the new ownership was Monday, Aug 22nd at 9AM. I sat at the counter. Wait staff was attentive and brought me coffee right away. When I asked for some milk, she brought me a metal container. The milk curdled and she immediately apologized and brought me a fresh cup and another container. My counter seat provided me a chance to see the line cook working and prep process. The manager and wait staff were supporting the cook by preparing toast, drinks and adding several grapes to garnish the plates. What really caught my attention was the way the cook picked up the pancake she had place on the plate and reposition it, twice. The manager added the grapes to the plate and it was on its way. The line cook kept wiping her sweaty forehead by pinching the front of her tee shirt WITH THE SAME FINGERS SHE USED TO TOUCH THE PANCAKES. I immediately thought of the consequences of contamination as a result of unprotected touching of food. E coli and Hepatitis. I carefully watched the way my plate was prepared. Again, the cook moved the sausage patties on my plate USING THE SAME FINGERS. I also watched the wait staff helpers and manger prepare toast for a takeaway order placing them in plastic baggies. The wait staffer that prepare my toast did so by holding the bread WITH HER FINGERS while spreading butter on them. Holding my toast in her hands, she rotated to place them on my plate (already served to me) but was stopped by the manager and told to put them on a separate plate. AT NO TIME DID ANY OF THEM WEAR GLOVES WHEN HANDLING THE GRAPES OR THE COOKED FOOD BEING SERVED. I did a quick look around to the walls to see if there was any Food Handlers Certificates. NONE. I left the toast and patties untouched on the plate and no one asked WHY. I recommend you steer clear of Morgan's Cafe. read more
