I had an excellent experience at M&G. I stopped in just casually before beginning my project to get an idea of their selection of floor tile and whether they could help with removal of the old floor and installation of the new. Visited twice more to pick out tile and they were helpful without hovering (my idea of perfect customer service). Once chosen and ordered, the tile took 10 days to come in, which worked out for me. TEERIBLE customer service. Buyers beware, do not do business here. Selected a rug in September and was provided with an estimate. When returning the sample, I was told someone would call me for scheduling the following week, since the owner Gary was not in. I never received a call from Gary, so went into the store when I was in the area. When I arrived at the store, Moriarty employees were not able to locate the estimate slip. Their paperwork is so disorganized, it's no wonder they haven't a clue who to call back or who is waiting for information. I was once again told that I would get a phone call to clarify. At this point I wanted to just order the rug and get it scheduled. WEEKS OF BACK AND FORTH, and when the rug order did come in my install date was rescheduled. Cancelled the install, picked up the rug and hired an installer from another rug company. AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. WASTE OF TIME. SAVE YOURSELF THE AGGRAVATION AND DO NOT SHOP AT MORIARTY. read more

Not only was the store's tile selection unparalleled when in comparison to the stores we had been previously, but the customer service we received was just impeccable. Being an interior design major as well as an associate of a high-end furniture retailer myself, I am fairly confident in my ability to detect insincere suggestions and uneducated design advice. Nate was knowledgeable, polite, sincere in his suggestions, and just had a delightful personality which made the entire process laid back and fun. I wouldn't go anywhere else! I just had vinyl tile installed in my kitchen. Dave did an outstanding job. I also carpeted my stairs, landing, and two rooms. I just had my new kitchen floor installed. When I first visited the store the salesman gave me a large sample of my choice to take home and to live with for a couple of days. I decided the first pattern was a little too light and returned it. I was given four more samples to choose from and told to take my time making a decision. However, I returned it the same day because by having four to pick from-- one was outstanding. The workmanship in the installation went beyond perfection. Dave and his son are not only perfectionists --they also left the area immaculate. Since this is the third floor replacement over the years I had something to compare it to. There is no comparison. Dave won. Dave was able to install the Vinyl in one piece even though the room is layed out like a jig saw puzzle. I couldn't be happier with my new floor. I am thrilled with my new floor and even more delighted to have done business with such a congenial group of people. You get what you pay for, and what you get here is worth paying more than you would for crap at a big box store. Don't get me wrong, they won't rip you off, but if you want a quality product properly (flawlessly) installed these are your guys. The experience in the showroom, featuring an incredibly huge selection was comfortable, casual and informative. I actually got steered in the right direction rather than just sold what they wanted to move. That is important to note too, they have an immense selection. Don't let the location in the plaza fool you. Excellent installation on my carpet, could not be happier. They will be hired again to do additional rooms in my home soon. read more

We recently had our entire second floor installed with vinyl wood flooring. We chose red oak, and we are absolutely delighted with our new flooring! The installation is flawless. Our entire experience with Moriarty & Gordon was exceptional from beginning to end. Nate was a great salesman with a lot of patience ( I had my very energetic 9 year old with me). There was no pressure, just a lot of great suggestions. Gary came for the measuring and he was wonderful as well. The installers were there when they said they would be there and we came home from vacation to a beautiful second floor. I love to support local businesses and that's easy to do when your local businesses are professional, reliable, and nice! We came here looking for backsplash at the recommendation of our neighbor who had hers done a few years ago. We showed them a couple pictures of our kitchen and they helped us pick a few designs and then encouraged us to take the samples home to see how they actually looked which was great. We ended up not loving the glass tile so we brought it back and discussed a few other ideas before taking home another sample board, which we ended up loving! Moriarty and Gordon took the info and passed it along to one of their subcontractors, Chuck Fiumara, who promptly contacted me and set up a time to come and do some measurements so that we could get an estimate. He was professional, prompt, and reasonably priced, so we went ahead and ordered the tile which arrived in less than a week and was picked up by Chuck right away. He was able to start the work in our kitchen after finishing another big job he was on and got it done in ONE day! It looks fabulous (see my pic) and like with the estimate, Chuck was very professional and prompt and worked hard all day so he could finish the work. I scheduled 2 different appointments with Moriarty & Gordon to do a flooring estimate at my store, Emporium 32. Both times they did not show up. The original meeting, which I scheduled with Cole, was for May 6. We had booked a time slot nearly 2 hours before our store typically opens because we wanted to work with M&G's schedule. The owner, David, was supposed to meet with us. Unfortunately, no one showed up or called. I finally called to investigate. Nate was very apologetic, saying David was away on a business trip and that I should have been called beforehand. He said that if anyone could make it out that day, that I would be called first, but just in case we booked another appointment for 5/15. As I had been up early and waiting for nearly two hours, I went out to finally get breakfast. Upon returning to my shop, I found an M&G business card stuck under my door with no note other than the name Gary circled on it. I called back again, and spoke to Gary. He was upset that I hadn't been there when he arrived, as he was told that someone called us and left a message the day before saying that David couldn't make it, and that he (Gary) would come by later after his earlier appointments as he was told we would be there all day. I told him that no, we had received no messages, that we were upset that we had been stood up, that I was told by Nate that if anyone could come by we would be called first, and that we were not "available all day". I own a retail store, and don't book other appointments during open hours, so as not to disrupt my customers. Gary, whom I was told is one of the owners, was unapologetic, and I felt that he was very rude to me, yelling at one point "I'm not going back there today!". We finished the conversation saying that we would both see eachother on the rebooked date of 5/15. I later checked my phone logs and found that I did have a missed call from an unknown number, which turned out to be M&G, but they left no message. Today is 5/15, and no one called or showed up again. I finally called to see what the status was and spoke to Nate again. Again, he was very apologetic, saying that an owner was sick and they were backed up and someone should have called. He was nothing but patient and understanding as I vented my frustration to him. Unfortunately, I will not be working with Moriarty & Gordon. Their flooring installation may be excellent, but their communication skills and customer service are not. read more

I used to buy all my remnants here, really awesome deal for $1 each. Then the tiny ones that I can't use for floor mats were $1 and the medium ones (outdooors) went up to $2 each. I was ok with it and went inside to pay. I struggled to carry my many remnants/ sample size and then went to use my credit card. They don't take credit for the remnants. Who carries cash? The man did not help me with my remnants as I walked up to pay. Who allows a female to struggle then does not offer to put them back when their policy of cash only is told once I get to the back of the shop? Lame. Never again. Ordered tile from them and took several hours to pick out all the tile for my bathroom. Finally finished and was told it would take 7-10 days to get the tile in confirmed by a call from Nate. A week later he calls and says bad news the tile is on back order until 2 months from now. Obviously this is an issue w contracting time schedule. I tried to pick out new tile and it was 500 dollars more and wouldn't even give me a 100 dollars off for putting me now 2 weeks behind schedule. When I asked for my money back I was told my accountant is not here so i can't. This was a lie...someone was hiding in the back and came out with an envelope of the money and rudely shoved it in our hand and was pissed off. It seems they dont mind giving customers a wild goose chase, but dont like it when it happens to them. I would shop elsewhere!!! read more

This place is more expensive than Home Despot, but the variety of product and high level of service they offer is worth it. Cole was a knowledgeable and low pressure sales rep who made sure a follow up order I had was filled at the same time as the main part of my order. I had carpeting installed in my basement. My appointment was scheduled for 9:00 to 9:30 AM on Saturday. The two gentlemen that installed it were punctual, professional and they did an excellent job! The entire experience with Moriarty & Gordon was nothing less than outstanding. Gary, Cole and Nate were all very professional and went out of their way to make sure we got what we wanted with absolutely no hassle! I dealt with cole on purchase of the tile. Very knowledgable guy. As far as the install far from impressed. Installed by there guy, Gary jr (which I believe posted the first review). 3-4 months after install of tile, grout started falling out of corners and around tub. Then waited over two months to get repaired "with caulking". I have tried contacting owner by phone and email and get no response. But after spending over $2,000 Im not impressed. got plenty of pictures read more

We purchased ceramic tile from Moriarty & Gordon for both of our bathroom remodels (in '04 and '08), but we had our own contractors do the work. When it came time to remodel the kitchen, I went back to them mainly because they're local and I was happy with the tile in the bathrooms. This time, though, I have been much more involved in the process, as we weren't sure at first what kind of flooring we wanted to install. Cole in particular has been fabulous to work with. Aside from being good with my two kids in tow, he had great suggestions, helped bring the samples out to my car, ordered more samples when I requested a product they didn't readily have samples for, and he has always called me to keep me up to date. We had M&G out to rip up the existing ceramic tile, and the guys were great and left no mess at all. Can't wait until the new floor is installed after the kitchen remodel is complete. read more
