    Smokey old fashion

We're staying at the Andaz in Maui so we where excited to go to Morimoto's. We didn't have reservations but they were nice enough to accommodate us. We sat outside and saw the beautiful sunset. I had a smoky old fashion to start with which was amazing. My husband had the omakase which he enjoyed. I tasted some of it and I liked the carpaccio the best. It was quite a bit of food for $200. The dishes were good but disappointed with the chef sushi nigiri- wasn't anything special. I had the ishi yak buri bop which was quite good but then I was starving by the time my husband got his entree. Overall, kind of pricy but delicious.

My husband and I decided to end our Maui trip with a bang and chose Morimoto Maui for dinner on our last night at the Andaz. Chef Morimoto is our favorite Iron Chef, and we had a lovely dining experience at his Las Vegas restaurant many years ago. What makes his Maui location stand out, though, is the menu, which blends traditional Japanese cuisine with creative Western and Hawaiian influences. For our appetizer, we ordered one of their menu specials, a King Salmon roll that came with asparagus and a surprising addition of fried pickle. I could have done without the latter because it made the roll overly salty, but the King salmon itself was incredibly fresh and buttery, which helped balance out the unusual pairing. For our main dishes, we ordered the Chilean sea bass and the 16‑ounce Wagyu ribeye. The fish was cooked perfectly and featured a delicious black bean sauce that complemented its flavor and the accompanying vegetables nicely. The ribeye was also well‑seasoned and tender, although for its hefty price and wagyu label, we were expecting it to truly stand out. For dessert, we went with their ube Basque cheesecake, which was generously sized and perfect for those who prefer things "not too sweet". The restaurant offers an upscale yet relaxed ambiance with its oceanfront setting, which is especially memorable at sunset. It is the perfect spot to celebrate a special occasion or end a trip to the beautiful island of Maui on a high note.

My husband and I went to Maui for our honeymoon an this was our one dinner splurge of the trip. My husband's favorite iron chef is Morimoto. I have actually never eaten at any food network chefs restaurants so we were both really excited! I didn't take too many photos because I wanted to be very present. The restaurant was at our resort which was nice. We got a table next to the pool and the bar. It was very intimate as there wasn't very many tables nearby. All the food was AMAZING 1. Wagyu Beef Carpaccio. It was super flavorful and the portion was pretty good for the price. 2. Sticky Ribs - WOW! This had to be my favorite out of the dishes we got. The ribs were so tender. The meat literally feel off the bone when you picked it up. When we're in public, I have to be able to use a fork with my ribs 3. Surf and Turf - gah I haven't had lobster in forever and I deffinitly missed it. It was all seasoned so well and a nice sized portion to be able to share. Even though everything was very good, I could of just ordered a few more orders of the sticky ribs. Trust me, if you dine here, you have to order it!!!

Morimoto was so good we went twice in our week long trip! It's located in the Andaz, and is a beautiful restaurant with sunset views if you time it right. I highly recommend making a reservation, as we still had a short wait with ours. Both visits we experienced excellent service. The servers were attentive and knowledgeable about the menu to make great recommendations. The duck fried rice and chef's choice combination sushi were highlights for us. Highly recommend if you're in Wailea!

We chose this place to celebrate our recent anniversary, but I shouldve read the Yelp reviews first. Food was subpar. For this price point, the "Chefs Choice" nigiri in my opinion should NOT have egg as one of the 10 pieces. Felt like a filler. Ambiance was ehh. There were random people walking thru the restaurant using it as a short cut to get to where they were going. It was annoying and no one did anything about it. Not the hosts, not the servers. This place is definitely running on its name, I do not recomend this place!

Morimoto Maui is a definite 5 star experience, located inside the Andaz Hotel. We loved every moment of our dining experience. The service was impeccable. Our server was on it, and checked in quite frequently to ensure everything was brought out in a timely fashion. The food was divine. Fresh seafood, with impeccable flavors! I couldn't give a favorite but I've attached photos for ideas! There is also a kids menu which was just perfect for our littles and we truly appreciated that. The ambiance is spot on. Ocean views, pool views, and if you're lucky you'll see the Hawaiian dances in the Andaz Garden. Just lovely. Will we be back, definitely. This experience has us wanting to try other Morimoto eateries as well! Cheers to perfection Yelpers! Xx

10 star location for sure I sat outside at the bar overlooking the ocean. Nestled behind the Andez Maui a 5 star hotel. If you're looking for a place to go with beautiful views go here. The service was very attentive, the bartender was slightly gruff but it was at the end of the day. I have an amazing glass of wine albeit expensive.

I love Morimoto always have. This visit was one of the best. Sometimes it can feel like a food mill. Napa comes to mind but the diver in Maui was perfect. The waitress was super bubbly, funny, and a pleasure to chat with. She sounded exactly like Margaret Cho which was a trip. The pace of food delivery was excellent and each dish got better than the last. The location is really nice too, out at the Andaz pool. Morimoto is a must for us when vacationing in Wailea.

We are big fans of iron chef and so we wanted to try Morimoto while we are in Hawaii. Waygu beef carpaccio --thinly sliced Waygu beef in a citrus sauce . Local fish carpaccio-- love the fish texture and the citrus sauce. Ishi yaki buri nap -- so good with yellow tail slight seared. Server mixes it and told us that morimoto won his first competition with this dish. Kushi yaki -- lobster, pork belly, Waygu burger, and chicken Chef's selection of sashimi -- amazing presentation This place is amazing and the dishes are so unusual and delicious!

We LOVED our experience here. Morimoto is located at the lowest pool level of the Andaz with complementary valet. The Andaz is a beautiful 5 star resort. The vibes and atmosphere were great. As many reviewers mentioned their sticky ribs is MUST. I also loved their sea bass and the clam miso soup. I thought the miso soup was delicious and stood out from many other miso soups I've had! We also got the makimoto sashimi which comes with 5 pieces all garnished differently and it was delicious. So fresh and the flavors meshed well. I would definitely come again!

However, it's massive as it spans more than 13,000 square feet with both indoor and outdoor seating with views of the Pacific Ocean. We made reservations online for our special occasion with requests to be outside for the sunset. The yellowtail jalapeño ($42) had good spice. The tiradito nobu style ($41) was a Peruvian-inspired sashimi with red snapper and I liked the dehydrated soy salt and yuzu. The crispy rice spicy tuna ($40) was deconstructed where we soaked the rice in soy sauce (per the server's recommendation) then scooped with tuna, but it wasn't really spicy and we tasted way too much soy sauce. The white fish sashimi dry miso ($42) has always been one of my favorites and I loved the crispy garlic. The tai sweet shiso ($42) is a Maui-specific dish with red snapper and we loved the umami bombs of the dried mushrooms; this one was probably my favorite of the cold dishes. The salmon avocado roll ($18) was standard. The bluefin toro sashimi ($26 each) fell apart in my mouth and just melted. The black cod miso ($65) was cooked well and was my favorite of all the hot dishes. The sea bass dry miso ($68) was tender and also cooked well. The ribeye truffle butter with crispy onions ($105) was a little tough but I loved the truffle butter and the crispy onions. This is usually my favorite hot dish but not this time. For drinks I had the rum connection ($25) which is another Maui-specific item but tasted a little watered down. The staff was super friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and offered great recommendations. We ordered the Unagi Roll, which was rich and flavorful. The Hamachi Roll was also excellent, fresh, clean-tasting white fish. The wasabi served with both rolls was impressively potent. We also tried the Pork Chow Fun. The noodles had a great smoky flavor and really hit the spot. Our favorite dish was the Fish of the Day, which happened to be Shutome. We ordered it blackened, and it was fantastic--something we'd definitely order again. Don't sleep on Isana. It's an excellent happy hour spot and well worth a visit.
