What a unexpected hidden gem in town! INDIAN in OLD TAPPAN?!? I was very happy to see them on the way home from work one day and they had nice, dark interior that was very inviting. I took out a butter chicken ($19, Entree, 5/5) and it was sublime. That prompted me to order lunch special another day for my office and while it was slightly pricey, they allow you to choose different types of curry (can choose a mild curry or hot curry like vindaloo), protein, and they give you the almond milk(?) dessert. Tandoori Chicken ($19, Entree, 5/5) - I had a colleague who's NEVER had Indian food before, and he swore to his stomach that this was AMAZING. I had to agree - chicken was super moist, fragrant seasoning deeply penetrating yet not overly salty or spicy, and not greasy at all. I have to say it's one of the BEST Tandoori chicken I've had, and I had many. I do think the quantity is slightly lacking for the price, but their quality is definitely there. We need to support hidden gems like these that aim to create AUTHENTIC food that is true to its roots - so please go try them out ya'll and thank me later! read more

Came here for lunch and it took almost forever for things to arrive including tea, naan, and other. There was only one server at the time. Ordered a lamb saag and it was not creamy, it felt watery, and it was disappointing. The only thing that was good was the garlic naans instead of the main course. Quite disappointed. read more

The food is has been amazing every time and in my opinion, better than anything else I've had in NJ or NYC. This place was quite on a Sunday evening. Went for quick dinner and specially because I was craving samosa. The vegetable samosas were quite good. It was served hot with the chutney (dipping sauce). So I also ordered samosa chaat which was okay, nothing out of ordinary. I was mostly disappointed on the papdi chaat. It was crunchy but didn't come together. It lacked the tangy spices and the sauce mix. It didn't feel like authentic papdi chat. Also the chicken biryani was not really it. We stopped in at an odd hour on a weekend for early dinner (3:30) and were the only ones there except an uber eats driver that stopped in to pick up. But, based on the food alone you'd think it would be packed. So good. We had the samosas which were perfectly crispy, not heavy/oily at all, and had a really nice and well-rounded spiciness. Best I've had in years. The Channa masala was also perfect- light, flavorful, and perfectly complemented by the fragrant and unusually tasty jasmine rice. They had a couple of Indian beers which did the trick. The waiter was really friendly but also didn't hover. The place was open/spacious, very clean and modern. It's in an unassuming mini strip right before the train tracks and would be easy to miss or assume was just a takeout spot. They have a small parking lot in the back which is handy. My only warning is that it was absolutely freezing inside. Apparently it's common and the waiter noticed I stepped out to grab my hoodie and even acknowledged it tends to run cold for the kitchen or something along those lines. Samosa Chaat: never had but dang was this good. I think they chopped up the warm samosa and threw it in with fresh cut veggies, sauce and sauce. Whatever they did, fabulous. Lamb Curry Lunch: I LOVE lamb, and I judge them on this above all else. And this was DOPE. Spicy (I'm also pretty sure you can ask them to adjust but for me, the spice level was perfect), lamb cubes were juicy and tender, sauce was smashing, level of heat perfect. Notice the small details, small sprigs of fresh ginger on top... yup I took notice Moringa...if you were aiming to impress, you did LoL! Panner Box Lunch (creamy): very tasty, my wife's dish. This was her jam but I definitely "shared" a bite or two Mango Lassi: lastly, once upon a time an Indian friend of mine told me that the straw test dictated whether the mango Lassi was subpar or not... if the straw fell over then it's "meh", if it stood tall, then it's legit. Well, it passed the yes AND it was delicious, so win win. Staff was friendly, ambiance was quite nice. The finishes on the inside was something to admire. New Indian restaurant in Tappan, NY, opened 3 months ago we noticed it when we drove by earlier in the day so decided to try it out tonight! So very happy we did! The good is delicious! The service was very friendly and helpful! People sitting nearby were Vegans and the restaurant accommodated every request they made! Our order was amazing! Needs improvement for dine-in. It was very expensive, we waited a long time for our food considering we were one of three tables. They were very busy with to go orders. The order which the food comes out is important, the main came out first and then we had to wait for the naan / rice, our other dish didn't get fired until all that came out so by the time it arrived we were full and kind of took a few bites before wrapping it to go. We just stopped in for a quick lunch. The waitstaff was lovely. The food was delicious! Chicken Khorma, Vindaloo(our spiciest dish), and Channa Masala were all seasoned beautifully! What a find! The two of us celebrated my husband's birthday in this nicely appointed restaurant that served fresh, delicious fare. The appetizers. The samosa chaat was so well made with just the right amount of heat and adorable samosas. The honey chili cauliflower was crunchy, sweet and hot and fabulous. A must. So happy to have dined at Moringa Curry House. We had samosa chat, mango lassi, garlic and plain naan. Also: tandoori chicken, saag paneer, aloo gobi and Chana Masala: loved them all. The chicken byriani was a bit dry but the addition of tamarind sauce and raita fixed it right up. Rice pudding and gulab jamun sweetened our palates at the end. Ordered Lamb Bryani and Papadum. They were very good and authentic ( I grew up in Singapore, lots of Indian food!). Lamb was moist and tender and seasoned just right. They do not adorn the Bryani with unnecessary things like raisins and coconut shavings and the rice had perfect color and texture. The Papadum is home made and delicious. I have tried just about every Indian restaurant in rockland and I think this is honestly one of the best. The food is freshly made served steaming hot with just the right amount spices for the American palate. The ambiance is simple but elegant in an understated way. The dish ware is distinctive and unique. The selections are fairly priced given today's economy and the service is friendly and courteous. To start this off I will address the food. It was all very good. I had a chick pea thing and the mixed tandoori grill. All tasty and presented nicely. As they should be because those are the table stakes. If the food doesn't work it's definitely an uphill battle. But, it's a battle that can be won if the service and atmosphere is great. I've returned to more than one restaurant with great service and ok or less thank ok food if I believed the potential was there. If the food is just good and the rest of the experience is not so good I'm less likely to return. This might be that. I was the only person in the restaurant after the four top that was finishing when I got there left. The person on the floor hardly spoke to me. He took my order and disappeared. It was weird. I was in a restaurant by myself and he did not even attempt to engage with me. I ate quietly enjoyed my food but the lack of interest in me as a customer or the lack of excitement on his part as someone starting a new business was off putting.
