Rudra doesn't advertise much but when speaking with staff they said food was all halal. The ambience and food here is great and relaxing. The food that really stood out for me and my friends were the chicken korma super creamy and tasty 9/10 and avocado chaat 9.5/10. Not a pleasant experience. Friday night early dinner around 5 pm. Placed our order of chicken tikka masala and chicken with saag and alo paratha. Waited over 45 minutes for the food to arrive and then only the entrees arrived, placed on the table and we were left to wonder if the rice would arrive and what about the bread we ordered. Waited another 10 minutes to get our waitress attention. She was very nice and apologetic about the lack of attention as someone else was helping her. About the food, no flavor in alo pratha no seasoning, the chicken in both dishes were dry as cardboard and hard as rock. Will not come back ever. read more

Took me long enough to write a review about this place. Fantastic place and has become my go-to spot for getting Indian food. Sitting in Teaneck across the street from the CVS is this place. Parking is a little tricky, with only limited street parking nearby, but most people just park in the big CVS lot and walk over. I usually opt for takeout as Indian food is one of the few cuisines in my opinion that doesn't lose as much vs dine-in although dine-in quality is great too. My go to items are the mutter paneer and the garlic naan. Both are consistently excellent, only wish they gave more paneer in the curry! They can also make the food quite spicy if you prefer the heat like I do. The samosas are also a great appetizer and the shell is cooked perfectly crispy. I need to try out more of the menu at some point! If dining in, seating is somewhat small but I've never had issues getting a table. Service is always fantastic too as the guys running the place have always been nice. If you order take-out the time estimates they give are not always accurate so just be mindful of that when ordering. read more

Finally... We found the best Indian cuisine in NJ! Having read several positive reviews for Rudra we decided to check them out and good news, they are legit. Easily the best Indian restaurant in NJ (IMHO), among the top three in the greater NYC metro and among the top 10 I've ever tasted. Let's start with the food... The cuts of chicken are trimmed and cooked to perfection. The curry sauce was thick and had just the right amount of spice (I ordered medium). The Saag is also thick and spicy. Before the curry, we had Samosas and were very impressed. The crust with light and flaky an the amount of potatoes inside is quite generous. Among the best I've ever tasted. Portions were very generous too and that says something about the owners. So many restaurants have reduced the portions and it's very noticeable. My wife and I both walked out of Rudra with full stomachs and enough leftovers for another meal. The atmosphere inside is very tasteful and the service is very kind. A little about my love of Indian cuisine. I was first introduced to Indian food by a British co-worker of Indian descent in Lieceater, England, known for their curry. I've also dined at three Michelin rated Indian restaurants (1 in London, 2 in Manhattan), and in my opinion, Rudra's food is nearly as good and at 1/3rd the price. My wife and I have spent 12 years trying to find a solid, goto Indian restaurant and until now had only found two, both in Manhattan, both a bit pricey. We are so thrilled to find Rudra and will be returning soon and often! read more

If you are apprehensive about trying or eating Indian food again as I personally know, a lot of people had a bad experience with it. You will forever be changed. If you dine at Rudra the food is excellent. It will make you a lover of Indian food. Just try it once you will not be disappointed the shrimp and crab is excellent especially the grilled paneer with the onions and pepper. lovely little indian spot, with street parking outside. great service. make sure to make reservations because it fills up! prices are modest and servings are big. Overall i liked my dishes, but feel the flavor was a tad bland and they have a light hand with heat. the garlic nan is a must get. we also tried the paneer and chicken stuffed naan. i liked these because of their uniqueness, but i think they need the paneer to be melted more. my malai kofta was incredibly smooth and sweet. my only complaint was that they only put 3 or 4 malai balls in there. there was too much sauce to malai. i think there should be more, maybe throw in some veggies. read more

I have been looking for a good Indian restaurant near Teaneck and this one delivered! I have food allergies (gluten, dairy) and it is sometimes hard to find places with delicious food that I am able to eat. Our waiter Apurba was wonderful and knowledgable about allergies and the menu. They have an entire section of the menu on the back which lists multiple items marked as Vegan and/or Gluten free. My sister and I ordered Shrimp Goa Curry - which they prepared with non dairy milk for me and it was DELICIOUS. The sauce was amazing and I actually took home the leftovers to pour over other things! We also tried the Baigan Bharta (vegan eggplant dish) and the Dal Makhni (black lentils). My sister got the assorted tandoori breads also, and I got an order of mango chutney, Everything was prepared well and delicious and the service was great. Apurba was attentive and very sweet. Parking may be tough but we went on a Wednesday night so were able to park right in front. I ended up finishing all of my leftovers as portions are generous. Give it a try! read more

Searched for an Indian restaurant around Paramus area and got this hidden gem . Had good reviews in google/yelp and surely wanted to try this . Went on a weekday/ and hence no buffet . It was just Ala-carte . They had lunch specials and it was great . Price was ok. About 15-20$ for lunch special .. It just took very long for the food to come :.. appx about 30-40 mins wait time . But it was worth the wait . The food was delicious and sumptuous . They gave rice, naan, dhal, spinach with whatever you order (say chicken , veg, goat meal) .. naan was really well made and soft/crispy. Curry was exquisite.. they had 4-5 pieces of meat in it . Fish curry was also good .it's of space inside to sit and eat . I think it is BYO. Parking is a little crazy but there is a large parking lot on opposite side of road .. customer service could be better and wish they can reduce the wait times . Tamarind was good, Mint chutney was flat and muddy no mint taste and no heat. Ordered pakoras, and Crab and shrimp curry as appetizers. Pakoras where ok. Crab and shrimp where a little too fishy for my taste, and my friend was done after 3 bites. Ordered Sag Tikka and Butter Chicken for mains butter chicken was good as was the Sag except for the chicken pieces tasted like they had been in the fridge for a couple of days. I really wanted this place to be better as the space was nice and the waitstaff was attentive and polite. They didn't charge me for the Crab and Shrimp. Maybe I caught them on a bad day. read more

Honestly the service was terrible. I'd give them honestly 0/5 stars because of the service. It was so slow to make food and what seemed like the owner was clearly racist. He favored Caucasian customers for a higher tip and ignored my table despite asking for water 3 times. He passed by us and didn't listen to us. Because of the service I wouldn't come back. Delicious, authentic Indian food. My boyfriend and I were so surprised to find this hole in the wall restaurant! I live in town and I was so surprised to find a great Indian spot nearby. The staff are very friendly and service is excellent. The setting is intimate and quiet. Lots of street parking in front and across the street. It's also BYOB so don't forget to bring some booze to pair with your meal. The food was absolutely delicious. We tried the cauliflower appetizer recommended by the owner, it was very good and had the perfect amount of spice. As our entrees my boyfriend ordered the Chicken Makhani and I got the Malai Kofta. They came with rice and we also got some garlic naan. I'm getting hungry again as I'm writing this. All in all, everything was perfect and it really exceeded our expectations. We noticed most people order for pickup/take out. We like to try as many new places as we can but have come back to Rudra several times since finding them in 2021 Shrimp & Crab Meat - cooked in a silky tomato sauce, served on a bed of garlic bread - this was so good I could have had this as an entrée! Chicken Tikka Saag - I didn't understand the added "Tikka" in the dish name until I got my order, the saag sauce is put over Tikka chicken. This was ok but I prefer the chicken cooked in the saag. Mixed Grill Platter - Shrimp, Chicken Tikka, Chicken Seekh & Lamb Seekh - hubby loved it, it was ok for me, lamb was too gamey... Came here the other night when looking for some good Indian restaurants in the area on Yelp and decided to stop in after seeing the great reviews and pics of their food! Their chicken tikka masala was AMAZING! Full of flavor, generous portion size and perfect level of spice to it. The chicken biryani was ok....we took most of it home and it held up very well and made for a delicious left over the next day. Staff is friendly and ambience is quite nice.
