Officially found my go to when craving authentic Indian food! Waiters were very attentive and were quick refilling our water without asking. Hate when I'm thirsty and dying to make eye contact with a waiter for more water. Awkward much? lol Nice spacious area with very dimmed lights and even had a pianist playing, very soothing music. Menus are on a tablet which makes things a tad easier to know exactly what each dish looks like BUT my god those lights were bright. I wish I remembered the name of everything we ordered. I've had better Indian food at another place in Teaneck but overall we had a nice dinner. Two chicken entrees were described as having different sauces but they tasted exactly the same. I suggest passing up the chicken Pot stickers app, they were nothing special. The eggplant chat appetizer was good but not what the menu described. The garlic naan and butter naan were both good. Amazing food experience we had! We went on a Friday evening and enjoyed the music and live piano performances! Such performances definitely elevate the experience. In starters, we ordered zucchini chaat and dry paneer chill. The zucchini chaat was delicious!!! I would visit this place just to have this again. Main course we ordered egg fried rice, Hakka noodles and chilli paneer Manchurian. Everything was outstanding! After a long time, we found a good place serving amazing Indo Chinese food in NJ. The fried rice and Hakka noodles did transport us back to Indian street side food experience. The service was quick and amazing. What a great find! Parking was a tad hard to find, but they're well worth it. I was surprised how tasty all the dishes were- my favorite was the lamb vindaloo- it had a kick! The portion sizes were generous and the owner came to speak to us for a bit- super friendly guy! The menus are electronic which made it easy to view all the dishes as they also had a video preview of what to expect. Great spot and the prices were fair. TAKEOUT/PICK-UP REVIEW: Our team of four at work splurged on a holiday lunch from Turmeric in Ridgewood. We placed a pick-up order to bring back to the office. It was easy to order online and the estimated wait time for pick up was relatively short for a Friday. All the food was delicious! Here is what we ordered for family-style sharing: - zucchini chaat (my coworker's rec that was my favorite appetizer) - butter naan (these are HUGE pieces!) - chicken samosa (samosa come with green and brown chutneys) - vegetable samosa (the veggie ones have a nice kick to them) - chicken korma (our group's favorite entree) - butter chicken (my order as I rarely get to have non-veg Indian: I enjoyed it) - chicken tikka (we ordered mild for the group; next time, I would get medium spice) - rack of lamb masala (a chef special; I really liked this dish - it had 3 pieces of lamb on the bone in a rich, flavorful sauce *drool*) All the entrees came with basmati rice. One of the rice containers had garlic and saffron; this was so good (I could have eaten just this as my meal). Everything was packed securely with no spillage and was clearly marked, which is very helpful when ordering for a large group. Can't say enough great things about Turmeric Indian Bistro. Great place for big parties. The atmosphere is on the dim side to create that romantic ambiance. However, I usually come here with a larger crowd and usually take the larger table in the back. Usually when we go it's quiet and we're usually the louder crowd. 6 kids and all. They don't mind and they still provide amazing amazing service. They don't mind how long we stay and never try to rush us out. Love that feeling. The food...man it is so good. We normally get the butter chicken for the kids, chicken korma for my wife and I and a bunch of garlic naan. By far the best in the area. Anyone that says otherwise I'd say they don't know good Indian food. I believe they have live music during Friday nights or Saturday. Double check on that. While the food at Turmeric was bearable Indian cuisine, speaking from a native Indian, the service at this restaurant was an absolute abomination. The containers were tightly sealed so there were no spills in the bag it was delivered in. I've been to this place twice now, it's a SURE sleeper. The outside of the place is wildly deceiving with it's mundane brick exterior squeezed right against the outskirts of the hustle and bustle of the town. Two benefits of this, first, you can usually find parking near here! And 2ndly, it's your very own hidden gem (that I'm now screaming about at the top of my lungs!). When you get inside, it's calling for an extravagant date night. Candle lit room, with dynamic sections and even live piano playing on weekends (call for exact days). The atmosphere is very romantic, spacious, and progressive. It's also very accommodating for large groups. Outside of it's sleeper date-night vibes, the food is fantastic. The wait staff both times, provided us with exceptional explanations on food items we were unsure of and recommendations when prompted. I did wish they were a little more tentative to the table outside of just the ordering process and it was a bit of a wait (when no one was really at the restaurant) to get the check and pay. However, we weren't in a rush so it wasn't a big deal. All in all, mega Ridgewood sleeper that everyone should give it a go. It's beautiful, and tasty! read more

Some members in our party were Jain (no onion, no garlic, no potato), and they were able to accommodate with a couple of options: paneer pakora, paneer kadai and paneer makhani. They had a live pianist who even played a Bollywood song (upon request)! We tried their chilli garlic naan, cheese naan, and rosemary naan and all three were a hit. I also tried the mint mojito, which was great, not overly sweet. Our server was really nice, and made sure we were taken care of! They even gave us a little sweet box for the holidays, which was a nice touch. We'll definitely be back here again! read more

We got chicken korma, dal makhani, & chili garlic naan. Chicken korma 3/5- it wasn't the best korma I've had. The chicken was good, not dry & not a lot of fatty bits or gristle. The sauce could've been more flavorful. Dal makhani 5/5- OMG this was so good! I've never had it before & just wanted to try something new. It's rich & really flavorful. I'll definitely come back for this. Chili garlic naan 4/5- the naan was as big as everyone said, the size of a pizza. I think we'll stick to garlic naan. I'm not sure if it was the chili flake but there was a sandy crunch that I didn't like. I really was looking for a place that would offer a contactless pickup. In my online order notes I asked about calling when I get there & seeing if they would bring our order outside. When I arrived I called, we were parked directly in front of the restaurant & asked if they minded bringing out our order & the person on the phone said they were very busy & our order would be ready in 5 min but they can't promise to bring it out. I called back & stood in front of the restaurant & they brought it out, so I was thankful they did that but at the same time the restaurant didn't look packed & stepping outside for 10 sec doesn't seem like a huge imposition. Had an amazing experience tonight here. We were met with great service and a live singer who was amazing. The ambiance and decor here is beautiful. I absolutely love coming here. We ordered many dishes, apps: crispy chicken and baby corn, zucchini chaat, garlic shrimp. Mango lassis were delicious! Entrees we had veggie fried rice and Hakka noodles, fish curry, shrimp curry and mushroom peas curry. For dessert we had gulab jamun, ras malai and jalebi ice cream. All of the food was great. Located in the lively heart of Ridgewood, this restaurant has indoor and outdoor dining with BYOB! Liquor store located around the corner, more on that in another review. Usually, we get it to go, and the quality does not suffer. We've had tikka masala, korma, chic peas, dal, naan, roti, others things I don't even know the name of. Everything is sooooo delicious. This is a new Indian spot that just opened in Ridgewood replacing a location that's hosted multiple places. The newly designed inside is nice as well. I called the place and ordered their Maharaja Non-Veg Meal which was $12.95 which for the size of the meal was a great deal. They plan on offering other meal deals for lunch which is a good idea. The dish came with the following: Chicken seekh kebab, chicken tikka masala, dal bukhara, rice, naan and salad The seekh kebabs here are outstanding and it was the best thing. Very juicy. Chicken tikka masala had a good tomato flavor and was not super sweet while the dal bukhara has a great spicy kick. The naan is a bit different, more flat by comparison but it was good and not saturated with ghee. The salad/rice were what was expected. Good new place with nice staff. Will order again. Hope they do well but there hasn't been many restaurants in this building specifically that has done well. read more

I ate here today at the Food Court at South Shore Plaza. The food was AMAZING!!! I got the samosa chaat and the spinach and cheese naan. OMG unbelievable!! and the prices are so reasonable for the quality of food. I'd you like Indian food you will not regret going here!! Best deal and best food I've eaten in a while. I'm not kidding! My new favorite Indian place. I am so picky and have been seraching for a great place since the pandemic to replace the one I used to go to in NYC. I've visited twice for in house dinner and twice for takeout. They do not disappoint and a must try if you're in the neighborhood or even if 20mins away. Vegetable samosa - OMG so fresh and light. always leaves me wanting more. Entrees: Thali - very filling and flavor with every bite. it's one of my favorite dishes Salmon in Tikka Masala sauce with Basmati rice- wow - wow - wow! - I've never had salmon at an Indian restaurant and this was AMAZING!! A must try dish! Naan - served with both dishes were so fresh and delicious. I couldn't finish my meal because of it and I wanted to more. Amazing ! Just had delivery and it was very good! Unfortunately, we needed to spend $100 min in order to get the delivery. But luckily for us we were forced to try more of their delicious appetizers! Appetizer: VEGETABLE SAMOSA - so good! There is 3 in an order but you'll have left overs!! 1 is big enough to share :) MIXED VEG PAKORA - very tasty and still crispy even though it was carry out 25mins away! GOBI MANCHURIAN (V) - tasty but not so crispy most likely bc it's covered in the amazing sauce! Def still recommend but in house would be better. DAHI PURI - MUST HAVE! It is not something I would recommend for carry out only bc it's traditionally yogurt/mango/&potato is supposed to be filled in crispy puri cups. However I must say this is sooooo flavorful I mixed it into my curry to cool it down a bit! BUTTER GARLIC SHRIMP - FAVORITE!! Super juicy and buttery & garlicky delicious! So tasty and refreshing! We had the cauliflower app which had the perfect amount of spice and shared plain naan, and a few other dishes. There was nothing that was lacking or disappointing. The initial look of the restaurant is beautifully decorated with Rajasthani style umbrellas, accompanied by heaters and outdoor table. We went around Sunday noon, got seated right away. The interior is also gorgeous, with statues in every corner and paintings on the wall. For starter they give complementary, Mango Colada and Papar (hard taco). Their menu is quite large, with plenty appetizer and entrees, all divided in vegetarian and non-vegetarians sections. We ordered a handful of dishes. Tofu Pakora - Fried layer with soft tofu inside, was disappointing it didn't come with any sauce Goan Shrimp Curry - Sweet and creamy, loved the curry sauce Chicken Bhuna - was pretty basic, won't order it next time Bhindi Masala - Delightful Egg Curry - 4 eggs, lovely taste created with tomatoes Chicken Biryani - Soft fluffy rice, comes with Raita Butter Naan - the highlight, we were amazed they make naan THIN, unlike most places where it's really thick and heavy.
