Today I worked with Dr. Kapil and Melissa and they really went above and beyond to take care of my cat. I was worried about how my cat seems to get distressed when his nails get too long and brought him in for a trim. Melissa escalated my concerns to Dr. Kapil and he went out of his way to talk to me about my concerns and assure me it likely wasn't due to any other issues. He then took a moment to share some solutions for me to better care for my cat myself. I found this particularly impressive because I've seen other veterinarians in the area nickel and dime pets so much that they actually harm them. Dr. Kapil did the opposite: he valued the health of my cat so much that he proposed a solution that might make the clinic a little less money short-term (as I might be trimming my cats nails at home). This is a better business strategy in my opinion because this veterinarian's honesty and trustworthiness (which they routinely demonstrate) has secured my loyalty and I will likely be taking my pets here for years to come. It means the world to me to be able to take my fur babies to a place I trust. I highly recommend Kenhaven.

I seem to come across vets of two extremes: the "anything at all costs" vet, and the hands off, "whatever" vet, and my experience with NAC is more of the former which can be a good and bad thing. When I was treating elderly diabetic cat he was able to diagnose our cat with diabetes within our first visit which was a RELIEF because it was something that I suspected but was brushed off by more than two other vets. Now here comes the tricky part- I felt pressure to treat my cat because "there are options" but I believe treatment differs on a cat by cat basis. We did our research and were aware of the possible outcomes for cats with diabetes. Diabetes treatment in cats is uncertain and from what I gathered would have just been uncertain torture for our cat. We had an old, irritable cat who HATED vets and would practically have a panic attack every time she was at the vet. Her sister from the same litter exhibited the exact same symptoms and had to be put down suddenly months before our diagnosis so from what we gathered her prospects where already grim. Monthly vet visits and shots just seem like hell for a cat that is even temperamental about being touched. We believed we had her best interest in heart and decided to put her down. We were able to follow through with our decision but not without a bit of a guilt trip. I understand vets have the training and experience that I do not as a cat owner, but when it comes to ethics it's not about passively nodding your head to the doctor and submitting. It's about looking out for your loved ones and making the hard decisions; I staunchly believe that quality of life trumps longevity. I will still seek treatment from NAC for my second cat and I believe they care about our pet(s), but I would like to highlight the need for pet owners to advocate for their pets when it comes to ethical decisions.

Somehow my dog was given a Gabapentin prescription which is a medication for seizures, anxiety, and…read more(maybe) pain. Gabapentin is not a drug approved by the FDA for dogs. An extremely common side effect of Gabapentin in a dog is confusion and wobbly walking. I took my dog to the Norbeck Animal Clinic because of these side effects, and the vet I got on that particular day was bad. That vet decided that the problem was a cognitive disorder and thought the Gabapentin would cure it (which is not what Gabapentin does). She also prescribed clindamycin for meningitis. Clindamycin is not recommended for meningitis (at least in humans), and she had no reason to say that it was meningitis except for the wobbly walk. (I do know that medical doctors never prescribe medications until they test for the disease.) After three weeks my dog was in really bad shape, and I was informed that the dog should be put down. Fortunately I was able to make enough sense of what the vet was trying to do, and I stopped giving my dog Gabapentin, and he had a total recovery in less than two days. There are so many vets in the Norbeck Animal Clinic. I don't know how informed all of the vets are, but I now wouldn't trust any of them. I feel very lucky that my dog survived Norbeck Animal Clinic.

Claire was incredibly responsive when I sent the initial interest email, and she sent our walker, Jules, out to meet us the next week. We knew it was true love when Jules walked in and said "That dog is a HYENA and hyenas are my favorite animal". Most people call her a tiger, but she is clearly a hyena. Jules has come to walk my pup three days a week for the past few months, and we couldn't be happier. Based on the photos Jules sends after every walk, it is very clear that Suki has a new best friend. Jules is quick to send an update after each walk, and is very responsive to communication in the Portal - even for unrelated tasks I forgot in the morning rush, like taking the blanket off the bed so Suki can't destroy it, as she is prone to do... Claire accepts my walk requests immediately, and the price is lower than anything else I was considering. We're so relieved to know Suki is taken care of and happy while we're at work. We love Baby Got Bark, and will be customers for many many years.

This was our first experience with Healthy Hounds and so far I'm not impressed and unsure I will go…read moreback. 1. I called ahead and schedule whatever is done my first visit. When I arrived there was no record and they didn't know I was coming. Ended up giving me a tour and when I asked if I could do the evaluation for my dog, they said they needed vaccine forms. Ok, fine, but would have been nice if they had told me that ahead of time. Not a big deal, but I took note of poor communication. 2. We work out the vaccine forms. Not sure what happened as Healthy Hound told me my dog wasn't up to date. Ok, so I call the vet and ask to get him updated. Vet says he IS up to date. Fine. Weird and a waste of my time, but fine. 3. Get the evaluation scheduled now the vaccines are sorted. They tell me I have to sign a form beforehand. Ok, done. When I arrive they tell me I have to do it again. Ok, no big deal but am noticing they just seem overall unorganized. My dog is dropped for the eval and I let them know he's a herding dog who loves to run and he does bark. They say no problem we have lots of dogs like that. Great. 4. They call kid way thru the eval and say my dog passed but "because he is a puppy can they give him breaks?" I ask what a break looks like and they are sort of vague and not making sense but something about protecting him from fights because he runs a lot and the other dogs get worked up. So I ask if he got into a fight? They say no, they caught it before it escalated. So I ask for clarification: what is the break they want to give him? They say they want to put him in a secluded room from 12-2. And upon my insistence, they finally admit this break is to give the other dogs a break from my dog. I know my dog is a lot of energy, so I get that, but the point of sending him is to have him USE the energy. I can crate him at home for free. So I'm already thinking this isn't a good fit. 5. I go pick up him up two hours earlier than I have to because I'm. It feeling this. I was required to put a credit card on file and assumed that would be how I would pay. Long story short, that's not the case and they wouldn't give me my dog. Now, I understand I have to pay. That's good biz but the poor communication just feels like a dealbreaker. They seem so unorganized. Caveat: from what I understand there was a system change and I suspect I have just fallen thru the cracks, it happens. But calling to tell me my high energy dog who I'm sending for him to be able to run and play needs to be secluded for two hours of a five hour session and how they tried to spin it like "he's a puppy he needs a break" feels like something we aren't going to recover from given this is my first impression. Super bummed. Really wanted this to work.

We are happy to say that the issue was resolved to our satisfaction. While it took some time, we are thankful that it was ultimately addressed in the manner that we had come to expect from our past positive experiences at Healthy Hounds. Despite this particular situation, Healthy Hounds is one of, if not the best, daycare/boarding facility in the area and it would have been very difficult to find another suitable alternative. --- REVIEW 10/28/2025: We've been loyal clients of Healthy Hounds for years, bringing our dogs for daycare, grooming, and boarding -- trusting them as a key part of our pets' well-being. They have long been accommodating of our dogs' special needs, including caring for our blind dog with neurological deficiencies and our senior dog's TPLO surgery restrictions. So imagine our surprise when our recent experience took a shocking turn. Our senior dog -- a regular, well-loved guest at the Rockville location -- was suddenly banned from all services because he is undergoing chemotherapy for mast cell cancer, a treatment he receives once every three weeks and may continue for life. This policy was never communicated, written, or enforced during the many months he has been receiving chemo. He has been boarded six times and attended daycare weekly since treatment began, with full transparency on our part. Not once were we told this was an issue. We're not upset that Healthy Hounds wants to protect dogs -- we're upset that they handled this situation poorly.

But to get the facts…read morestraight. 1) I contacted my sitter directly because the Pet Stop was not timely in in responding to our requests for a sitter, I would not have had to do this if she was professional enough to answer our calls or email in a timely manner and ran her business professionally. she was afraid of losing her commission that's all. 2) She never called the police on us, but when she refused to return my keys at the end I had to threaten to call the police to force her to return them, would you want someone to keep your keys that had just screamed at you? 3) I never raised my voice to her when discussing our problems. She began ranting and raving and screaming. Her communication skills are very poor and she needs to learn how to speak with paying clients. So once again with the abundance of qualified sitters in the area why even take a risk on the Pet Stop.

The owner came over to meet our pup before we started services for him and after each visit she leaves detailed notes about how his walks were. It is very nice to come home every night from work and see how he did throughout the day, especially when we he was so little and just getting accustomed to crate training and house training. Additionally, we left our pup over night with the Pet Stop one time thus far. They were awesome! He had a big fenced in yard to run and play in and the owners dogs provided great socialization and playtime for our pup. He was happy to see me when I picked him up, but you could really tell he made himself right at home. This made me feel so much better than boarding him in a crate overnight. Recently our little guy got into a bottle of Advil at home which required monitoring of him afterwards to watch for any overdose symptoms. Of course, we called Pet Stop to help us with this. The owner kept him at her house during the day so he was under constant supervision and was very attentive in letting me know how he was feeling. It gave us such a peace of mind knowing he was in such good hands. Our pup loves both the owner and the walker that comes to the house, I've been home on occassion when they have arrived and he is always absolutely ecstatic to see them, so I know they treat him well when I am away. The owner is also very flexible. We have work schedules that can sometimes change erratically and she has always been very accommodating to us. The prices are extremely reasonable as well for the upstanding service that you receive. I would totally recommend this company a million times over! I love my pets to death and I would not just let anyone care for them. The Pet Stop has my full trust and gratitude for the great service they provide their clients!
